Port flipped no longer can get fills - sad day......
Spaness2012 replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A port flip is a pretty easy fix........I would have run out of that surgeon's office in a hurry! Go find a new doctor's office or take the bull by the horns and ask him why it can't be flipped back? -
banded 4/30/13
Spaness2012 replied to Bk Latin gent's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! I had to walk every 30 mins or so for several days after my surgery. I also flapped my arms around and around to move the gas. This lasted more than about 10 days for me. Keep moving. It will pass. -
Amen!

NERVES KICKING IN!!
Spaness2012 replied to ANewMe428's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A bit of anxiety is normal but as everyone said above.....we all come out on the other side wondering why we were so worried. Keep your thoughts positive and try not to freak yourself out! Good luck! -
All the low hanging fruit is gone...

Thank you for the reminder! I needed that today! -
I am pretty sure some fluid came out of my band during port replacement....I feel like I am in bandster hell again. Thank goodness for my doctor's appt this Fri!

I went in for my kink repair yesterday. It turned into a full port and tubing replacement. Once in the site, the doc noticed that the "kink" wasn't bad enough to cause the Fluid to not be taken out as easily as he would like. He blamed the port and replaced both. This surgery wasn't as "big" as the installation of the band iteself. I am feeling ok today other than port site discomfort. As discouraged as I was about having to "repair" something, I am so glad the issue was caught early and repaired quickly so that I can continue my weight loss journey. I could have gotten really upset and discouraged about this but I didn't. I had a very positive attitude and fully understood that sometimes these things happen. I hoped it wouldn't happen to me...but honestly....it is fine. Why not me? I still have some fill in (doc said just as much as I did before port replacement) but I feel a little less tight. No worries there either, I go in for a follow up in a week and if I need a fill I am sure I will get one. Thank you all for all the well wishes. I am sharing this info just to be informative....not to be negative. I am one that like's having ALL the info and potential problems laid out for me. Perhaps if someone else has to go through this....please know that it really is no big deal. Of all the potential problems.....this is a blessing. Happy Friday!

Awesome work!! This is a great start. Adopting some of these habits now will help you so much after your banded!! Good for you! -
Just when I am getting frustrated with myself I have a day like today where multiple people raved about how good I looked! I needed that!

I have always struggled with the instant gratification thing as well! I had to rethink the way I "think" about exercise. I list all the benefits of exercise, other than weight loss (i.e, sleep better, better mood, clothes fit better, regulates blood sugar, helps keep my skin from getting too saggy....). I exercise for all the reasons listed. I am not religious about it....but I am getting there. I always enjoy your posts.....this really transforms the way we think about everything. I just had a conversation with my inner 2 year old that wants everything RIGHT NOW! She seems to be a little quiet this week. Today I am the adult.

Anyone not requering pre-op diet?
Spaness2012 replied to lolarose13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a pretty strict pre-op diet. All clear liquids and protein shakes for 2 weeks. It was brutal but my doc said my liver looked amazing (wink). -
Protein is a great habit to get into. After banding the protein will help keep your muscles strong and toned. I have trouble getting all my water in as well (bathroom opportunities). Not sure what your doc's rules are but learning to live without soda was something I practiced during my 6 month pre-op as well. I can't even remember the last time I drank anything carbonated. The weather looks beautiful there....keep active...be good to yourself!

Not silly at all. All things thin people take for granted. These are big deals to us. Keep your dreams close......

Congrats on your decision. Good luck on your journey!

Very clever and what a nice ex husband you have. A very thoughtful gift! -
I'm going to have to get the kink in my tubing fixed afterall. I went in for my second fill today and they could get the fill IN...just not out. I had the same problem during my first fill and they put me under flouroscopy and saw where it looked like the tubing was kinked. Today the doc said he wants to fix it. Maybe as early as this Thursday! I will let you know how it goes. I asked the doc if it was something I did to myself or didn't do...and he said NO...that sometimes your body heals and the tubing just moves. Received 1cc in the band today.

My band baby moves a bit too. That "baby kicking" feeling is something I have felt as well. Not sure what it is....it is a little alarming but my doc says it's normal. Well normal for banded people I suppose. Good luck with your fill. It will help some with the hunger. The fill is the easy part...lol. Just remember to eat slow and chew well. Good luck!
