Love this!! Thanks for sharing. At the end of the day...it is only US who will fully accept and change the things we really already know about ourselves! xoxxo

Fatigue and three hour naps...
Spaness2012 replied to cat whisperer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this is normal. I was very fatigued for about 10 days post op. Your body is recovering....sleep is the perfect remedy for that. Be nice to yourself. -
My breaking point! And yours?
Spaness2012 replied to Newme32's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My rock bottom was when I couldn't fit in a rollercoaster with my 11 year old. I had to get off the ride. I was mortified and so was he (he wouldn't ride if I couldn't go). I knew right then and there......that was IT for me. I no longer could ignore it. -

Soon & scared! Advice, comfort?
Spaness2012 replied to ElleGene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a deep breath! We all had some pre-surgery anxiety but are here to post about our banded lives. The neck and shoulder pain will be from gas that they pump your stomach with to get to your organs. Although the gas is uncomfortable....there are things you can do to ease the trapped gas feeling. I am sure they will go over all this at your pre-op appt. Recovery is quicker than you think. I felt worlds better after each day and pretty much 100% at Day 7. Hopefully your apnea clears up after some weight loss. I have read this a lot here on the forum with very little weight loss. Good luck! -
Diet and expectations
Spaness2012 replied to jmerrick04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The fills do not hurt. They may even numb the area before they do it. I had a bit of anxiety for nothing. It really is easy peasy. -
What are your docs instruction after a fill? Mine strictly order liquids for 2 days right after a fill. I am sure eating anything right now (I got a fill today as well) would NOT be a good idea. Hope you feel better soon...maybe trying some liquids for a day may help.
-
Woo hoo! Got a fill today and I hope this takes me out of my second round of Bandster Hell!
-
There is nothing worse than "bandster hell"...except going through it again! Looking forward to my fill on Monday. Port replacement surgery totally pushed me back to white knuckling it!
-
4 weeks....but that is stretching it for me sometimes.....
-
This is a very, very hard time. I completely agree. The only way out is through it. I just told myself that THIS is temporary. A small, small part of the journey. I only took it one day at a time.....and soon....I was over it and banded. Good luck!
-
Dearest Mark..........I cannot add much more to what the others are saying but it's all true. As bad and miserable as you feel right now, things do get better, I promise. If I could reach out and hug you...I would. Be kind to yourself during these rough weeks and have some patience. Come here often as it does help! xoxox
-
I am sorry you are so frustrated. I certainly would be too. I agree with all the above and just want to add...maybe it's time to start moving? Exercise can really help get your metabolism going to burn the fat and calories. Good luck!
-
I know it's hard! I am in need of a fill myself and it have been shipped back to "bandster hell" after port replacement surgery. Be patient with yourself. Keep moving and drinking lots of water. We will be filled soon and that will take the edge off.
-
My doc always advises me to stay on liquids for a few days to get the swelling down. Reflux is never a good sign. Perhaps do the liquid thing over the weekend and call the doc on Monday if things persist. Good luck!

For me, accepting that I would have to put in some work to see the weight come off was discouraging. But once I accepted this fact and trusted that the "tool" I received would work....if I did....then it made things less confusing. With that said....maybe it's time to ask to have the Dr check the band to make sure there is no leaking and everything looks fine. Once you know everything is ok....then you can reevaluate what your doing and start losing. Good luck!

You are recognizing recent eating behaivor's not conducive to your new lifestyle.....success! You are in "Onderland"...success (I am still having trouble getting there and I am 1 pound away)! You have lost 56 pounds in 11 months.....success! Stop thinking about your progress as slow or failing and think about all the successes in your life...including the small NSV's. Our attitude's play a huge part in this. I find 2 things everyday that I pat myself on the back for. This could be taking a walk (yay me) or logging my food for the day (whatever the calories are...I have logged it). These are all successes for me!

How did you determine your goal?
Spaness2012 replied to TheDuchess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly...I set pretty low standard goals at my first Dr consultant. I told him that if I could lose 50 pounds and keep it off...I would consider the procedure and my efforts a success. Obviously keeping it off its a lifetime commitment but that 50 pounds came and went. I am now looking to a normal BMI which will take another 50 pounds or so. This will take work on my part. Bringing that effort everyday and being super patient with myself and the band. -
I love this idea too!

Question About Post-Op Band
Spaness2012 replied to NLR1984's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If one is on a liquid diet before and after....this also speeds up the weight loss in the beginning. Bandster Hell is real and it is all YOU making better choices, eating less, and watching calories in/out. We get out of it what we put in. The upside is...once you receive a few fills and adapt to the lifestyle...the white knuckling starts to subside. It takes time...have patience. This was the hardest part for me....the patience! Good luck! -
