My anesthesiologist put me at complete ease when he said I put my life at greater risk getting in my car every morning than having something happen during this surgery. It will be fine. I was super nervous too. You will get through it.......it will be great. Congrats on your decision! -
On "thin purees", next step....
Spaness2012 replied to feb27bandwoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe more of a question for your nutritionist but I would imagine it would be things like mashed potato's, refried beans, yogurt (without thinning with milk), etc. -
I got my first fill today! It wasn't painful at all and I received 3.4cc's in my 10cc band. The doc was able to get to my port easily and the fill went in perfectly. The potential problem arouse when he tried to take the saline out to test the tubing and the Fluid had trouble coming out. He put me under fluoroscopy to make sure things were where they were supposed to be and everything looked fine except for a portion of the tubing that took an abrupt hook to the left (possibly kinked). I tried not to panic. He assured me that alot of times these things rectify themselves and wants to see me back in a month. The good news. I lost weight and got a fill!! On liquids for the next several days and hope to feel well with solids! Please send your good thoughts and energy my way to motivate the tubing to unkink itself! I am trying not to worry about it right now.

Did anyone have a problem with pop/soda?
Spaness2012 replied to leannel90's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I felt the same way! Before pre-op I thought I would have a harder time giving it up. Honestly, I don't even think about it anymore! Hoping the transition will be easier than you thought. -
There is always hope! Congrats on your decision! They didn't promise me it would be easy...just worth it. So far...they were right.

Spaness2012 replied to aufan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay you!! Welcome to the other side. Give yourself plenty of time to heal! I look forward to hearing about all your success! -
Bandster Hell is ......well hell! Really focus on getting protein in. This helps me alot! I know it seems intolerable....but give it some time. Try and thwart your attention to something else. Sometimes if I am obsessing about food...things feel bleak. Try and keep busy. But eat your protein!

Thank you! Luckily I am on liquids for a few days so I am happy about that (ironic isn't it?). I am nervous about going back to solids with the new fill but I will follow the chewing and small bite rules and certainly will hope fpr the best! -

Is It Always Going To Feel Like I'm Dying?
Spaness2012 replied to Shelleymb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better...I promise. Please call your doc though if something doesn't feel right. -
Thank you for all your posts. They do help "early bandsters" like me. I am in awe of your progress!

What to realistically expect?
Spaness2012 replied to jackj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all previous posts! Please know that everyone is different. If you are expecting rapid weight loss in a short period of time....you may be disappointed. We all work very hard to get the weight off. Just like anyone that is NOT banded. The band will help along the way but compliance is crucial! For me, PATIENCE, has been an attribute that I constantly have to work on. Looking back, my expectations may have been unrealistic. Now that I know....I just follow the rules as best as I can, I call the doctor if I am concerned about things, and I keep on keeping on. Best of luck to you! -
Eating too few calories= slow weight loss?
Spaness2012 replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I have been more active the last 2 weeks, I too up'd my calories to 1200. I am seeing a difference in loss now. Sounds like there is something to that! Congrats on all your hard work. -
I love this! Thanks for sharing. Congrats on all your hard work!!

Today I realized that I need to be proud of what I have accomplished "to-date". Not to be branded successful at goal. There are so many daily accomplishments I can be proud of today!
