Is anyone just tired all the time?
Spaness2012 replied to chas1112's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am sure alot of us have this fear in the beginning. As long as you stick to your docs plan, follow the rules, and believe you can do this....then you will. I promise! -
Slightly uncomfortable question about....

Adding the fiber (Metamucil) will also help the "runs" if you have been getting that too. For me..it was all trial and error. It's a nuisance but I seem to have "leveled out" now. I find that adding some Beans to your diet helps as well. -

Yes...4 to 6 weeks for me as well. The lethargy made me a bit nervous during this time but like clockwork...once I hit 5 weeks...I had mad energy. Be good to yourself......give your body some time to heal. -
Fresh out of Surgery!

Welcome to the other side! My gas lasted about 5 days or so but then I still got lingering shoulder gas for a few weeks after that. Walking and a heating pad helps. Rest up...be patient with your recovery.....be good to yourself! -
Slightly uncomfortable question about....
Spaness2012 replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is normal in the beginning as we are all eating WAY cleaner than we did before. Pain killers and surgey "alone" can make it worse. I had to add some Fiber (Metamucil) in my diet pretty much everyday for a few weeks. I also used Miralax once a week as it is less aggressive than other laxatives. Once I started eating solids, drinking my Water, and moving more (walking, etc.), it rectified (no pun intended) itself. Feel better soon! -
How Much Do You Weigh Yourself?
Spaness2012 replied to sunnysweety's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ballooned up to 251 for many reasons but one was because I didn't know or guage how out of control it was really getting. I didn't know because I never stepped on the scale. I won't ever balloon out of control again without knowing and seeing it. For me, I step on the scale every morning. It doesn't consume me but I need to know what is going on with myself. It's accountability for me. Good luck on your journey! -
Nice work!!

Oh my! I am sorry for your ordeal but happy that you are getting the "newer version". Feel better soon! -
So glad your feeling better! What an awful few days for you!

Lap band risks seem like 100% failure in my research

The only thing I would add is that I too feel like this is the best tool I could have given myself! If you took the stats just from the responses here....well thats 100% success. I don't argue with success. -
T'was the night before surgery......

Love your enthusiasm! You'll do great! Congrats on your new journey! -
Yes...all very normal. As you can read here......it's not all easy....but worth it. Good luck!
-
Maybe visit with the doc again and see about getting a fill. You can do this!
-
We all have felt nervous and anxious! It's normal. I promise you will be fine. Take the time to heal and follow postop directions. You will do great! Good luck!

Do you have access to a nutritionist at your surgery center? It's time to go back to basics. Sit down with both of them...tell them your struggles, your fears, your daily food intake, etc. Maybe the doc can give you an xray just to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. They will try and get you back on track if your honest and want to get this back on track. Another wls is only going to exasperate your efforts. Good luck!

It did get much better for me after about 5 weeks or so but every once in awhile....I will still get some trapped gas in my shoulder (I never had that before). So there is some adjustment. A heating pad works it out usually...but sometimes it can last several days. Feel better.

I really needed to get up and walk right after surgery. Make sure you pull over and walk out some gas pain if and when you need to. Get everything moving. Good luck!
-
Great post! It IS a family lifestyle change. And only good things come from the adjustments we make. Congrats on your new lifestyle!

Alot of us have been where you are. Post op recovery goes on for weeks. Your body is in survival mode and alot of us see little or no weight loss in those first few weeks. Some even gain as their bodies go into starvation mode. This process is all about patience......having patience for me, was the hardest part. Hang in there...

Yay congrats!! Take this time to really wrap your head around the changes you will need to make i.e., chewing slow, eating small bites, etc. Practicing this really made a difference for me after surgery.

Not sick at all. I see no reason why you couldn't go back to work after a fill. It was honestly the easiest part of the process for me. Congrats on your weight loss! I am 7 pounds away from being in Onderland and this is a small weight loss goal for me too. I can't wait!!

Incredible!! Thanks for sharing your pics! -
Even though I have already made a lifetime committment to this process. A wedding I will be attending in August is a good short term motivator! Bring on a hot dress!

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am certain we all felt this way before making the decision. Good luck!
