Hi LUV2teach2, Thanks for your input. I had a very small fill. So far, so good, but I haven't tried "real food" yet. Lost 6 lbs. on the liquid and mushies. Tomorrow, Easter, I am going to try Ham and mashed potatoes. But, I find I have to eat very, very little to lose weight. I am 68 and not tooo active. I have also had hip replacement. But I am going to try the treadmill soon. But, you are right, what works for one, doesn't work for another. Nice talking to you. I sure hope this little fill works. And good luck to you.:cool2: Hi to everyone. Nanavivian Banded - March 2007 By Dr. Jones - Beth Israel:smile2: -

Hi SherryW, I haven't posted in ages due to health problems in the family. I am having a problem gaining weight. I am soooo surprised you had a second surgery. Good luck!! I see Dr. Jones and June next Wed. I can't keep food down with a fill but without I gain. I hope they have a solution. Maybe if I can check in here more often, I can get my momentum back. Hi to everyone. I still haven't learned how to make a chart. Nanavivian Banded March 2007 with Dr. Jones, BIDMC Had lost 53 Gained back 10 -
Hi Dez, Congratulations and Good luck. I cannot believe it is time. I bet you can't wait. I know the last few weeks are tough. And hello to all of the other who met at the Burlington Mall and the newbies. Nothing much new with me. Weight loss is very slow because of hip replacement surgery but I am comfortable. No complaints. Just checking in. Nanavivian:smile: Surgery date 3/7/07 Highest Weight 213 Weight, Time of Surgery 207 Present Weight 157

Hi Sherry and everyone, I am so sorry that I could not make it to the get together on Sat.. I had even gone to RI so that I would be closer. But the weather got to me. And, I tried to get onto our Lapband forum from there to pm you, but couldn't even find it. It is difficult to get to if it is not on your favorites. I am also going to Florida for the month of March if you should plan another one. But I would love to come once spring comes and I am back. It sounds like it did some good for those who went. Good luck to all. I will talk to you in April. Nanavivian -
Hi Mona Patti, I just got an unfill on Friday and they gave me a pamphlet that applies for a fill and for an unfill. It says liquids for three days, then mushies for three days, they try solid foods. I don't know if it is different with different doctors. Didn't your doctor give you a schedule of what to do? Good luck. Keep an eye on the reflux and or spitting up. I have to watch overeating now, Sherry, when I go to solid foods. Nanavivian:confused_smile:

Hi Sherry, I have only had two fills. 1cc in May and 1 1/2 cc's in July. But ever since the July one I have felt like I couldn't eat solid food. I had been grinding meat, and still sometimes had trouble with that. Much of anything else was coming up. So I was mostly on liquids and healthy soups. But even that was giving me heartburn. I felt it had gotten worse with the hip surgery so I was afraid something was disturbed during that surgery. But the doctor I saw on Friday thought I would have been vomiting even liquids if it had been disturbed or slipped. I cannot tell yet because I am on liquids only, but I at least have had no indigestion and feel more comfortable. I will know better when I start real food. And, by the way, I am glad about the response you are getting for the get together. I really hope I can make it. I am getting ready to go to Florida. Do you want us to bring lapband friendly food? Talk to you again. Hi to everyone. Nanavivian Highest Weight 216 Weight at time of Surgery 207 Weight at BIDMC on FRI 155 (Sure wish I knew how to do a Scale):thumbup:

Hi Sherry, I finally called June who referred me to an attending doctor who wanted to see me right away. I went into Boston this morning and she removed half of the fills that I had in there. I had 2 1/2 cc's in there and she removed a lot of it. This should help. They will check me just before I go to Florida. Or sooner if I am still having a problem. That should do it but I am on liquids for now and can't tell yet. I am glad that I decided to call. Nanavivian

 Hi Sherry, Thanks. I had forgotten the small dish idea. Also, I have been pretty immobile since the hip replacement surgery, just doing the therapy they recommend. The doctor doesn't even want me to walk because I still walk with a limp, so the weight loss is so slow. But I will be able to do more soon. And, I will start with smaller portions. Thanks for the advise. I think that might have been it. Nanavivian:rolleyes2: Highest Weight 216 Weight at surgery 207 Weight today 155

Hi Sherry, I probaby do take an extra "not needed" bite or two. I was brought up to finish everything on my plate. And old habits die hard. Even though I think I take small portions, I should try taking smaller portions. And see how that goes. I think my eyes are literally bigger than my stomach now. And the weight loss is VERY slow!!. Thanks. Nanavivian:wink2: Date of surgery 3/7/07 Highest Weight 213 Weight at surgery 207 Weight today 157

Hi All, I haven't been on in a long while. I have had hip replacement surgery. But I am doing well. I would love to try to make it Sherry. I am going to BICMC the end of Feb. and could use some great info soon. I have been pb'ing a lot since my surgery. It seems to be slowing down now, but I am anxious to talk to June and Dr. Jones about it. Other than that I am thrilled with the surgery. I will keep an eye on this site for further info and when I know for sure, can I e-mail you, Sherry? Hi to all the ones who met at the Burlington Mall, and welcome to the newbies. Hi Linda, I am 66 and I was banded March 6 of '07 at Beth Israel by Dr. Jones. I have no complaints about having this done at my age. BIDMC was great and so was Dr. Jones. I was in the hospital 2 nights instead of 1 only because of a slight temp (unknown reason). But everything went fine. I have lost 50 lbs and I have had 2 fills. I think the fills give me a little too much restriction for a while. I can't keep too much food down for a few weeks after a fill. The weight loss is slower with lapband than with gastric bypass but I like it better. The port caused some discomfort after surgery and the gas was unreal. Those are the only things that should hold you from going back to work. I am retired so I can't say how long it takes to go back to work. I am sure you will do great. And, unless your blood pressure is out of sight you will. They will take good care of you. Being on this sight you will find a lot of support. Good luck. Nanavivian:) -
Hi all the old regulars and the newbies, Congratulations to dezadoo!! What a surprize. I have been without my computer for a while now. I am not going to bother to have it fixed - just going to wait until I can get a new one. I am going to be "out of commission" for a while. Having a Hip Replacement Surgery. So, if you get together between now and Christmas, I won't be able to make it. The surgery is scheduled for Nov. 7th (except that I better recover from a sinus infection first, or they won't do it). I am still doing fine band-wise. Lost about 47 lbs. :clap2: since March. I get into a plateau now and then and cannot lose for a few weeks. :help: That is where I am right now. I will check in again via the library's computer to see how everyone is doing. Nanavivian:)

Hi everyone, I was wondering where the group was, too. I am doing very well. After my second fill, still had problems with a lot of pb'ing, but it seems to be easing now. I haven't had too much to say, going into Boston to see June next week, lost 44 so far since March, so I am pleased but I wish it went faster. Talk to after seeing June. Nana

Hi everyone, Sorry I have been MIA for so long. Computer has been down. Just got it fixed. I am doing well. Just got a fill from Dr. Jones last Wed. He said I am doing well. Wish it was a little faster. I have been checking on your possible get together. If it works out I would like to come. I am sorry for the problems I read about, Sherry W I hope the acid reflux problem resolves and dezadoo, the fertility thing - Good luck - and rainbow congrats on both the smoking and the good mamogram - that is wonderful, but I am so sorry if your band has slipped. Keep us informed. dezadoo, I mentioned that my son and daughter-in-law were also doing the fertility thing. Well, it has been put on hold. They got a call from an adoption agency they have worked with who has a little boy that is good for them!!!! It would be great if this could work out but that has up and down sides too. We'll see. I have a question, How long does the losing hair thing last? And, it DOES grow back, right? :phanvan June gave me a vitamin which I started taking. I just passed the fourth month. Good to read about everybody. Nana Date of Surgery - March 6, 2007, Beth Israel Highest Weight Ever - 213 Weight at time of Surgery - 207 Current Weight - 168

Having trouble not overeating at nite
nanavivian replied to missym's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi - I was starting to feel that way just before I got my first fill. When are you due for a check-up? Your doctor may suggest a fill. But then you will have to be VERY careful about eating s l o w l y. I am having some trouble with pb'ing. It seems even though I try to eat slowly, I cannot keep some meals down. Maybe I cannot get used to eating such small amounts! Good Luck!! Nanavivian Banded March 6, 2007 by Dr. Jones at Beth Israel Hosp. Hi dezadoo, Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the advice. I timed myself tonight. I took half an hour to have a little ground roast beef with gravy and a salad. I am really trying to slow down. I think you are right because I can eat the same thing one time that won't go down another time. I wish you luck with the fertility thing. My son and daughter-in-law are going through that right now. It is a roller coaster but we are hopeful. I have another question to all . Do you all still have to crush your pills? This is a tough part of the plan. I take a lot so I taste them even though I mix them with soft food. For the most part I am doing really well. But the pb'ing has me leary about eating out. I'll try really, really slowing down. Hi all, I am back from Texas and glad to be on Lapband. Just before I left, Dr. Jones gave me just a small fill, about 1/2 cc so I wouldn't be un- comfortable while away and my weight loss was going good. But I have been having trouble keeping things down. Sometimes the same thing I ate yesterday, won't stay down today. Too dry?? Eating too fast?? Eating too much?? I can't decide. It happens about 3 times a week. Too often for me. What do you think? Then, when I got back, I had to go to an orthopedic doctor for my hip. He THINKS he saw an artery closing, so I had to go for an MRI, which will show if he is right. If he is right, it will mean a hip replacement and he said not to overdo the walking. Everything is harder but I am still thrilled with the weight loss!! And looking forward to more. I will also consider a get together. Talk to you when I know more. Nana

Hi All, Sherri, How did it go with your son today? Hi All, I went to Dr. Jones. They have me down for a 31 lb. loss (from my highest weight), but I go by the weight at time of surgery, so I count 22 lbs. They gave me a very small fill because of going to Texas. They didn't want me to have trouble and be so far away. They gave me only 1cc. This was today. So far, not too much different. We'll see when I try just liquid tomorrow. If you don't find the get together works out for the 5th, maybe I can make it when I get back. That will be after the 17th. I got my computer hooked up earlier than I thought. I am glad to keep in touch. On Sun. I go to RI to stay with my cousin who will take me to the airport on Mon. I forgot hubby was working on Mon. I am excited. I haven't seen my grandchildren in 2 yrs. But I am glad I got some sort of fill. I don't want to overdo!! Talk to you later. Nanavivian -

Hi everyone, This is my last chance with a computer until after your get together of May 5th, so I am going to have to say no to that. My computer is disconnected because of having our hardwood floors redone, I don't know when I will get it redone, so I cannot even read your posts. I am sorry to miss this one, then I am going to Texas for ten days. So, that is it for now. In between I am hoping to get a fill on my next visit to Dr. Jones:mad: . Talk to you later. Nana -

Hi Levi27, In case you haven't kept up with the other thread, I don't post very often because I cannot use my own computer and have to wait until I visit in RI. Good to hear from you and I see your great weight loss!! Congrats!! I finally was banded on March 6th at Beth Israel, Dr. Jones. I am doing very well. I have lost 19 lbs, but I hope to have a fill my next visit to get a little more restriction. I felt like it took forever to get it done. I was the last one in the group from the get together. I am glad I got to see one of your posts. I figured out how to do the ticker but I cannot for the life of me transfer it to posts:phanvan Nana -

Hi All, I am finally at a computer again. I am doing good. I will be going to see Dr. Jones the beginning of May. I am guessing I will get a fill. A little nervous about it but I would welcome a litte more restriction. I have added some to the food intake. I have only lost 19 lbs since March 6th. The doctor's office counts more because they take my highest weight but I count from when I went into the hospital. Anyway, I am going along just fine. On a get together, I have made plans to go to Texas May 7 - 17th. I have a son, his wife, and two grandchildren there. But, I could get together before that. Is it still May 5th? I will have access to a computer for a few days this time. Talk to you again. Nana -

Hi cheri52, I am nanavivian, I was just banded March 6th after waiting a long time because of some health issues. By the way, I cannot post very often because I have to use someone else's computer to post but I wanted to join in on an idea about your concern about being banded. First of all because of being from the Cape also, Dennis to be exact, and because I was just done. I was a little hungry during the three weeks on liquids and now that I am on soft foods (mushies) I was a little nauseas (spelling?) but my stomach must be adjusting, I am better today. So, with a few problems, we get through day by day. BUT, I know I could not loose the weight on my own so this is the way for me. You just have to give it a lot of thought and see what is right for you. I hope this helps. I know you are scheduled soon. Good luck. Nana -

Hi all, I finally got back to RI. That is where I have to come in order to post. Now that I am banded that is so frustrating. I keep up with you by reading all the time, however. I am doing really good. I started mushies about four days ago and yesterday I started feeling sick to my stomach. Normal?? Or am I eating too fast? I thought I would call June and ask but I haven't yet. Also, John, I think I am about a week later than you, I was done March 6th, and just recently I am feeling a pain on my left side. Not at the port which is still sore.:cry Has your pain gone away? When you answer, I won't be in RI to answer you, what a shame. Also, I wanted to say I would like to get together again. I usually am available because I am retired. I hope you can come up with a day when most of you are available. Also, I am waiting to hear where, because I am so chicken about driving. I made it OK to the last place in Burlington Mall, if that was OK. I just feel bad at the problems with weight loss etc. but I still like to read how you are doing. Keep up the good work!! I will post when I can. Nana
