I'm only 3 weeks post-op, and returning to my favorite restaurant is the last thing on my mind. I want to avoid those places for as long as I can, because I know that the fast food and the ordering in is what got me where I am today. My first few days of mushies my fiance talked me into stopping at KFC so I could have some mashed potatoes and mac and cheese (why I agreed to such a crazy dinner is beyond me!). I felt awful afterwards, not really physically terrible, but I was so upset with myself that I let myself go back there so fast. I worked so hard with the liquid diet for 5 weeks, and to just go crazy and eat KFC that fast! I told myself that day that I will not go back to another fast food or restaurant until a few fills, it is way to tempting to overeat (besides the fact that it's terrible for you).

I can completely understand where you're coming from, I just left the liquid stage. I was two weeks full liquids post op and I was so sick of it! It really is true what they say though when they say this has to be a lifestyle change, because I too am a very picky eater. It's just the kind of thing you have to get used to right now, and just remember it's only temporary. I ate a lot of jello and tomato soup during the end of my liquid, just for something different, and I do not like either one of those things very much! Even now, I'm on soft foods, and I'm eating chicken salad. Which normally, I never would have considered eating because the texture creeps me out, but I'm doing it because it's part of the process and I know it's only temporary. And actually, I'm starting to really like this chicken salad! Good luck!

Does anyone know when the sani strips are supposed to fall off the incisions? I could have sworn the nurse said they would fall off in 7-14 days. It's been 10 days now and they seem like they're still really glued onto my body lol.

You read my mind tonight! I'm going through the same feelings right now. My fiancé got Chinese food for dinner and I was so mad I threw a box across the room because I was so upset I couldn't have any! I've never acted that way before, it's like I snapped! Stay strong and know you're not alone! It will get better for us and be worth it in the end

I was told no hard demanding workouts for 6 weeks. Easy cardio and small weights are fine (don't lift more than 20 pounds the first six weeks also). I know every doctor is different though, it seems like mine is super cautious which is fine with me!

An I drink alcohol 11 days post op. I wanted to have a glass of wine and I read all of my books and handouts and I don't even see anything about alcohol!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I promise I know they're empty calories and lead to eating junk food lol. I've drank alcohol before, I know the down falls, but a glass of wine every once in awhile is all I need I'll ask my dr at my appointment Tuesday! Thanks!

Thanks for the replies! I like the alcohol wipe suggestion, I forgot I used to use that all the time to get permanent marker off of my hands! I won't have an issue getting it into my incisions by accident because my sani strips are still on. It's been 9 days sinch surgery...I wonder if that's an issue that they haven't fallen off yet. They told me not to pull them off, so I've just been ignoring it but not that I think about it...the book said they would stay on for about 7 days. Hmmm...

I had my surgery last Monday, 6/18, and I can't get the marker off of my stomach haha! I still have my surgeons initials and my incisions numbered. Any tips or tricks to get this off without having to scrub extremely hard? (still a little tender!)

That's too funny that the first couple say 9 days because I was going to say the same thing. I'm actually 9 days today and I feel pretty great! I slept through the entire night without waking up from pain and I got out of bed without pain. I knew it was going to be a great day at that point! So far, I would definately say day 9 for me is a great day!

I was banded 6/18/12 and am also all of a sudden so hungry it hurts lol. I did full liquids three weeks before and now two weeks after, and I've handled it fine really until today. My stomach was growling so hard all day that it hurt (also my first day back to work). Usually one drink before work and two at work could hold me over real well before I got home! I dont know what it was about today, I had to run down to the corner store and buy a bunch of soup so I could drink the broth lol. I'll be more prepared tomorrow that's for sure!

I Feel a little on my own about this subject and possibly misguided. I was banded last Monday the 18th and had to do three weeks liquid diet before. Ok, I get that part, even though from what I've been reading, that seems like a lot longer than most other people. So originally I was told one week liquid after surgery, that I also get. On the day of surgery though, i was then told no mushie foods until my post op appointment which is July 3, over two weeks after surgery. At first I was just like ok, two more weeks of liquids, I survived three what's two more. Now it's the end of week one and I feel like I could scream I'm so tired of carnation instant breakfast and strained cream soups! Does this seem right to everyone? I feel like I should call the doctors to make sure I'm understanding it all correctly!!!

Well I do feel so much better to hear its normal! Everyone else I asked around here who had it done didn't remember having to have to do it that long, main reason I felt like I misunderstood or something! So I appreciate all of the responses! Of course I'll be sticking with my dr orders, a little easier now though now that I know I'm not alone in the long waiting period after surgery!!

I'm 6 days post op, feeling better each day I have some port pain, and a sore abdomen. Other than that, today I'm feeling great! It will get better each day and definitely be worth it in the end.

I felt horrible the second day too. Today's the third day for me and it's getting better! Stat string, it will get better!

I Feel like I've been posting a lot lately lol! Had my surgery yesterday morning and got my period yesterday, 10 days early. Anyone else experience this or know if this is something to be concerned about?

Had my surgery this morning also, was doing great until tonight. Gas pains getting worse, doing a lot of walking and breathing exercise, has x strips, and it's not helping yet. When people are saying they stay ahead of the pain, are you taking more pain medicine than the recommended 4 hours?

Thanks for the replies! I'll try and walk more, I bet that will help. Courtney's mom, did you have trouble getting the gas out the first day? I think what my issue is I'm afraid to try push it out because of my sore abdomen, tmi I'm sorry!

I'm twelve hours post op and having issues getting the gas out. I know this is a big problem for most, but I could really use some advice. I've taken 4 gas x strips so far and not much help. Is this something that doesn't get better the first day? Or should I stop being so impatient and just left the gas x do it's magic? Lol

I have my surgery at 730 tomorrow morning and I can't believe I forgot to ask if my birth control pills are ok to take after the band!!! I know most things they want chewable, but dies anyone know if tiny birth control pills are ok? Especially the day of surgery? I'll ask in the morning when I'm there, but I'd like to ease my racing mind tonight as I lay in bed lol!

Yikes! They really should go over how it's not as effective! I heard that once but not from them, must have been on a website. I'll have to look into switching to something else after ASAP! Thanks for the replies!

Yes definately call! When I called a week after being submitted, she got back to me and said it was lucky she called and checked with the insurance because they said they never got it!! She told them they needed to put a rush on it right away, I still didn't hear back for 4 more days. When I did hear back, I learned they had known for 3 days but were moving to a new office and were not able to call AHHH! Lol, don't they know we're waiting on pins and needles! They say not to call, but if I would not have called who knows how long it would have taken to hear back!

My surgery is tomorrow finally!! I'm really nervous and excited. I couldn't find gas x strips like everyone recommends. I found chewable gas x though, anyone know if these work well also?
