Hi All, I think I have introduced myself before - possibly when I got my surgery date in Feb 13. Now I'm 3 weeks from beginning my pre op diet and 5 weeks from the big day! Super excited and annoyed my husband terribly with my counting down the days haha Have just finished puréeing bean/lentil and vegetable Soup for purée phase which starts at day 3-5 after op. Most of what I've read had people on liquids for a few weeks first? I'm having surgery at QE11 with Dr Justin Greenslade. Yay! Oh and I've been stalking this thread for ages haha but nowhere near read all 4500 posts! Lol Donna xo

What to do with the negAtive nellies and Nay sayers

I have had my Mum try to talk me out of it because she was uninformed and just scared really. I explained the surgery and made her somewhat more comfortable with the idea. Annoyingly however, I have had a few people ask if I will be able to stick with the eating plan afterwards. That basically makes me feel like they doubt me even before I've had the surgery. I try not to let them get me down but it's difficult! -
Acrylic Nails / Surgery?
Dons2.0 replied to MemphisChik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a scary one for me! Over 10 years ago now my sister was having surgery and wasn't told about removing her acrylic nails and she actually suffered a brain injury during her op (not wls just the camera down the throat) because the oxygen in her blood reading wasn't showing an issue occurring. I'm sure it's super rare that problems happen but they DO happen! I would urge you to remove everything as its not worth the risk - however minute that may be! Xo -
That's so amazing! I would love to hear how you did it? What you are eating and how much time at the gym etc? I bet you feel and look fantastic!

Hi All, Just wanted to say a quick hello to my fellow Aussies and others interested in this thread! I'm Donna, 29 from the Gold Coast. I have been considering the sleeve for nearly a year now and finally have all my ducks in a row and a surgery date in Sept! I had some super released early for this operation but only had enough to go into a public hospital as a private patient. My surgeon is Dr Justin Greenslade and he works out of Greenslopes and also the QE2 for patients like me. I have the lengthy wait because he only has certain days available through QE2 I believe, but with about 5 months to wait and saving me thousands (and I mean about $10000!) I can't complain and I've heard wonderful things about him and his work! I am currently around 140kg and 174 cm (so I have always been lucky with height) this is the heaviest I have been and have struggled with my weight since about year 8. My goal weight would be about 75-80kg for my height. Would love to hear from anyone with stats similar to mine that have already been sleeved, what is your goal etc and how is the journey going so far?? I am mainly doing this as I have PCOS and a lot of the side effects that having this brings - infertility mainly. I want to be healthy when my husband and I start a family and for people to know I'm actually pregnant! Not just overweight! I want children so badly and am also embarrassed to see an infertility specialist at my current weight. They are likely to tell me my weight is an issue ( I know this already) and I would be in a high risk category if I was to get pregnant now. All my closest friends are having or just had babies and I'm green with envy! I know I still have to wait after the op and I'm making the best decision for me and hopefully healthy babies in the future! I'm hoping to lose maybe 10-15kg before surgery by cutting out things I know aren't good for me and trying different Protein recipes and shakes so I'm in the know when the time comes maybe even throw some dreaded exercise in there to get me started lol Anyway enough about me! Would love to make some friends on here to share the journey. Hugs, Donna

My surgery date isn't until 17th Sept and I'm super impatient haha If it helps I've heard many people say that after day 3 pre op diet it gets much easier! So fingers crossed for you that it is! Good luck ladies and look forward to hearing your success stories! Xo

Hi All, Let me begin by saying this site and everyone that is open and honest about their experiences have been so helpful in my journey and decision to be sleeved! I am a 28 year old female from Australia and am currently 138kg (303.6 lbs). I have struggled with my weight since I was a child and have tried every diet known to man! But nothing has stuck unfortunately. So after much thought and discussion with my husband I believe the sleeve is my best choice. I have had depression and anxiety for about 10 years now and one of my phobias is being somewhere or with people and having an accident (not that it's actually happened, but it's been close before!)- TMI - sudden nervous bowel issues. So the thought that there is any chance of getting dumping syndrome absolutely terrifies me! I know that this can happen if you eat something naughty after sleeved (I have read this on this site) but I am scared I could be one of those people that may get it without reason. Can dumping be controlled? Eg. Anti- diarrhea tablets? This is the only thing that worries me about WLS. Any advise or comments would be great!
