I know this is an older post, but I'm going through the same thing as you with the food, and I'm so worried about not losing, or stretching the tummy out. How have you made out with this? How much have you continued to lose? I'm only 5 weeks post-op. Any info is appreciated!! -
30% Of Body Weight - Gone!

I was going to buy wanton wrappers today, and they are high in carbs. That is the one thing they said to me after this, and the slow weight loss, is that there are too many carbs. So if everyone is eating wontons, how are they making it, and isn't it not healthy? Just wondering, if they work and you still can lose weight I'm all for it...I had them in my hands, but didn't do it!!

30% Of Body Weight - Gone!

I think that's awesome. I am 5 wks post-op today. I went last week and got weighed in, and I had only lost 3 pds in 3 weeks, but the first week I lost 15, then they said I had 2 1/2 pounds of Fluid, and was down from 48% body fat to 46, only 2 points lost there. One more week has gone by and I have only lost 1 more pound, but I must say I have lost inches. Did anyone else start out slow like this? I just started to exercise, because a week after the surgery, everytime I would walk I was getting winded, and that didn't happen before the surgery. So I started out at 240, and I'm at 221 right now. I don't eat much and am trying to keep my carbs down, and Protein up, but I can't seem to find a Protein Drink low in carbs, I bought pure Protein Bars, thinking they were a good source, but then the carbs were high. The NP at the Dr's office said they should be over 5 carbs each. HELP, I don't want to blow this. I want the weight to come off, and I want to succeed. I see all these people with such great success stories, and I want to be one of them. Any low carb, high protein ideas, please let me know. Also, just so you all know, I was also sick with a bad summer cold, and was in the hospital after surgery two weeks later, because of the shortness of breath, and they did an EKG on me and that read different on one of the lines then it did prior to surgery. I have to have a stress test, and a Echo done. I'm just now getting to where I'm feeling better. I have been super tired, and my Vita D was low, protein was low, and Iron. Have any of you had a rough time since your surgery. Any info will help, and any encouragement is more then welcome. One other thing...can the stomach really stretch back out,and could that happen right away? I'm already freaking out if I get a spoonful too much...UGh.... -
Ok, I'm only five weeks out today and have lost only 21 lbs is that bad or what?

P.S. My menu they gave me told me to have 1 scrambled egg and 1/4 cup of cream of wheat...can't eat more then one egg, and the nurse told me that I should only be eating a 1/2 and egg, my question, is why do they say one egg and you say 1/2. I almost feel like food is gross. My mind and eyes are so hungry, but my mouth and stomach says NO WAY!! I just hope I'm on the right track.

I went to my 4 week post -op yesterday. I was telling my Dr. how the day before I had eaten scrambled eggs with mushrooms. I was in so much pain, and for the first time wanted to puke, but couldn't. He said when you scramble eggs in oil, that it makes them more rubbery, and it causes them to get stuck. He said, "why didn't you call me?" I said, what would you have done, he said it you use meat tenderiser and Water that it will clear the belly out. I told him I took the papaya enzyme and that helped, but it took a while. So be careful when you eat your eggs, that you make sure you chew them well. I had only lost 3 lbs after my first one week post-op visit. She said I was eating too much, and I also had 2 1/2 pounds of Fluid. I thought how the heck am I eating too much, I hardly have anything. My protein level was low, my Iron, and my Vitamin D. I told her about the Protein Bars, pure protein with 20 grams, and she said you have to make sure that it's low in carbs. It had 16 carbs per bar, along with my whey Protein Drink 8 grams of carbs and 26 protein, which I add another scoop of total soy with 13 grams of protein and 17 grams of carbs...she said the carbs should be kept at 5 grams. Sheesh, they say you feel better with more protein, but if you add more, then you're adding more carbs. Does anyone know which is the best high protein and low carb drink? I spent a lot of money on all this for nothing!?!? I also wanted to state that I have lost a total of 19.6 pounds in 4 weeks, and 2 1/2 was water...I thought that was good, how much should we lose a month? My head is spinning with thoughts of doubt and anxiety, worring if I'll stretch my stomach, and be back at square one!! Any info would be appreciated....thanks...

Ive Failed At My Pre Op Liquid Diet
guitar819 replied to skinnycupcake13's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
We only had to do a 4 day liquid, and I only did three of that, I did just fine, and I lost 5 lbs in those three days. Yes, it is important for the liver to not be swollen, because they don't want to nick any of the organs. You should be fine, in fact I drank that one day I should of been on it, but it was my last hurrah. I'm fine, survived it, and everything went fine...Good luck to you!! Oh by the time you get this, you will be home from your surgery. I hope it all goes well for you!! -

Also, I am not losing weight...why? It also seems like I"m able to put more away while eating. I don't want to get back into old routines....It's not like a lot, but today I ate a little more then what I have been. Is this normal? And, will I ever lose weight??
