Any Massachusetts Sleevers?
JazzyJ replied to starr1202's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 10/9/12 and am down 61 pounds. Live in Chelmsford. -
my doctor said at my 3 week post op appointment I could ride and go easy. Unfortunately, between the doctors appointment and when I could ride I hurt my knee. Can't wait to get back on though-down 60 pounds since the last time I rode so it will feel completely different!

I had two this weekend-I flew on Friday night and not only could I buckle the seatbelt, I had to significantly tighten it. And there was room in the seat. I used to be squeezed in and had to hide that the seatbelt wouldn't fasten because I did not want to ask for an extension... I went shopping today and bought myself some new workout clothes-in the "ladies" section, not the plus size. I was sleeved on October 9 and have lost 58 pounds. I am happy with my loss today, but am in a stall so it was great to have some other signs that I am making progress!
-
I don't know if this helps but I was sleeved on October 9 and have lost 58. I haven't lost anything for a month and have actually bounced up a pound. I go to the doctor on Thursday and am scared what he is going to say. This is my second stall, but what I learned with the last one is that when I stalled, everything seemed to tighten up and my clothes got big. That is what is happening now-the pants that I bought in January are now huge. I know it is scary-but maybe your body is just taking a timeout to catch up with the huge loss you have had so far. Be honest with your eating and your fluids (I know I haven't been tracking and need to!) and it will come off. I am starting to freak out a bit so I am writing this as much to encourage myself as I am you!!

I was taking one of the Bariatric chewables preop and was fine, but it made me gag post op. I have no problem with Flintstones chewables-and my nut actually recommended them. Much less expensive too!

I was sleeved on October 9, and had been in a stall for just about a month-like the scales would NOT move. Happy to say that I have broken the stall with a 3.4 pound loss this morning, for a total of 47.7! Most importantly, my blood pressure is down significantly and I have so many non-sleeve victories. My husband actually complimented my butt last night! To be coming out of the holidays at the same weight was a blessing, but to now have a loss is just great!

Thank goodness for this board-I was beginning to think that this was it and I wasn't going to lose any more. Very easy to slip into old thought/eating patterns! I do notice that my clothes got significantly bigger during the stall, so everything people have said on here is true. For those of you that are in a stall, don't give up! It will break, just keep at it.

I was sleeved October 9 and have lost 44 pounds including preop. Most importantly, I feel better than I have in years! -
First day of soft foods! Never been so excited to get to chew in my life! Cottage cheese for breakfast...
-
Ok dropped 2more pounds and learned my lesson-I only need to weigh once a week. It is weird but my stomach feels different this morning-almost tighter.
-
Just checking in-how is everyone doing? I have surprisingly little pain, just some twinges here and there but have no energy. I am getting in my fluids and protein. I need to stop weighing myself because I haven't lost a pound this week-I lost 9 between Tuesday and Sunday then nothing.

I switched protein powders to something that wasn't as intense and has 21 g. Also using almond milk instead of skim milk. Definitely hurts if I drink too fast though! -

I am also day 6 postop. No pain, nausea or other issues. Making my protein goal (it takes awhile) and fluid goals. I feel like I am constantly sipping something and am full. But otherwise feel pretty darn good! -
There is a whey shake called Terra's Whey at Whole Foods that has 21 g before you mix it with milk. It isn't super thick so that helps. I drink so slowly that I only make 4 oz at a time. Chicken bouillon and hot tea are helping me get in fluids. Hot is doing better than cold right now.

I was sleeved on Oct. 9 and came home from the hospital today. The first night I started vomiting, but they were right on top on the nausea, and then my heart rate and blood pressure spiked and they kept me another night just to make sure all is well. I am surprised that it isn't more painful and that I feel better than I expected. I am tired and just trying to remember to sip rather than drink is harder than I thought it would be. I am walking some but trying not to overdo it. Best wishes to all of those coming up-it is not as bad as I expected!

Mine is on Tuesday and have a hellish day at the office tomorrow, which I originally scheduled off. Maybe it is good to be distracted because I am starting to get a little freaked out!! -

I need some help to keep my head in the game. Long story, but I had an insurance approval on record, switched surgeons and they had to resubmit. They submitted the original informatio PLUS additional information, and I was DENIED today. My date is October 9. I have time off work scheduled, my mom booked her flight to come help me post op, and everything is ready to go. I have been on the pre-op diet since Sunday. I am READY to go, but for this. I emailed the insurance coordinator as soon as I found out this afternoon, but it was after her working hours. I have to get through the weekend and a wedding before I find out what is going on. I know Cigna is difficult, but this is ridiculous!! -

2nd day of the prep diet and I feel like I could eat my arm off! Tell me it gets better! -
I am starting my pre-op diet a little early-as in tomorrow! 17 days and counting. I am still waiting on my insurance approval but expect to have it next week. I think I am "nesting" to get ready for this!

I found out today that I have a torn meniscus and partial tear of my ACL. Going to see my PCP tomorrow for the clearance letter, and I am hopeful the fact that I wrecked my knee (again) will encourage him to be cooperative so I can keep my October 9th date. It has been hard because I can't exercise much. Say a prayer for me that all goes well tomorrow-I NEED this surgery! -
I am having a hard time focusing. I had an insurance approval for a different surgeon, then switched surgeons. I have a surgery date of October 9, and earlier this week a got a call from the insurance coordinator from my surgeon's office telling me that she needed a letter from my PCP to get a new clearance letter. I had my surgeons office order blood tests-otherwise I have every possible test result he could need. He is not particularly helpful, and I already know that given I needed a second surgeon to agree to do the surgery, he won't want to give a clearance letter. I also have Cigna, so I am very worried that the October 9 date is in jeopardy. I began this journey in 2009 and am just ready to get it done and get my life back. On top of all that, I fell a couple of weeks ago and really hurt my knee. I get the MRI results on Tuesday, PCP on Wednesday and trying not to go crazy and eat everything in sight between now and then. Thanks for letting me vent!!!

So because of a prior abdominal surgery, my surgeon does not want to do the sleeve (or any other surgery for that matter) because of the fear of complications. While I am grateful for his restraint, I am so disappointed and hopeless about what to do about the weight. I had finally accepted that this was the answer, as I am carrying about 150 extra pounds that I have not been able to get off on my own. After being told that this was really the only way to get the weight off, I am just lost.
