Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?
JustMeDee replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't have a surgery date yet but I plan on going public via FaceBook as soon as I get the date. I'm not good at keeping secrets from my friends plus I want to tell the world about this experience (good or bad). -
After I lose about 40 pounds or plus I'm looking forward to the huge shopping spree my hubby doesn't know he's paying for yet. lol.

Love the dress! You'll look beautiful.

I have an office job but plan on taking atleast one week short term unless I can get away with two. Figured I don't want to be at work miserable since I have alot of people are in and out of my office all day. It's for the companys best interest

I am such a picky eater, I find myself asking...Is this really going to work? On top of all the other questions in my head, that is the question that worries me more and more as my band date gets closer. I don't like vegetables except for corn. Not a big fruit person either though I'd rather have a banana anyday than brocoli. I'm a meat and potato kinda gal. Love steak, love chicken, love shrimp. Will eat fish but only if its fried and dipped in 10 pounds of batter. Most of these won't be an option once i have the surgery so I ask you...the experienced...the knowledgable...the great seasoned bandsters..What are my options for food after surgery? Will I be able to survive on such a limited food variety? Does anyone have any suggestions? Contrary to the statement above about being a picky eater my probablem with food have never been about junk food. I don't eat alot of chocolate and can't really afford too much McDonalds for a family of 4 nowadays. My issue with food has always been quantity. The little bit of food i do like I eat until I'm about to puke. Soda has been another downfall of mine but I think I'm beating that addiction since I've almost completely cut soda out of my life. Kinda long winded but i need help. Don't know if lap band is right for me since my food option are so limited. Then maybe I'm just stressing out for nothing. HELP!

Talked to the wonderful Cris (Dr. Erbella's nurse) and mentioned the changes in my insurance (thank you so much Jim1967 for the info) at first she told me the same information as before... 6 month wait, psych eval, dietician, and letter of recommendation from my primary care doctor. My heart fell. Then I remembered I had called my insurance company the day before and had them send me the new policy on bariatric surgery. Oh man was i excited again! She called Cigna and Jim and I were correct. I only have to wait 3 months now. Insert massive smiley face here! I am currently on my 4th month so that means as long as i get my other stuff done before August I'll most likely be able to have the surgery by the end of August. Don't you know come Monday I'm calling the psych and dietician to see if they can move up the appointments. Cris is already contacting my primary care doctor so atleast i don't have to worry about that. On a seperate note, I bought my first ever scale today. Kids thought it was the coolest thing but when you weigh under 120 its easy to be excited. Heck if i was under 120 I'd be excited too. Hoping one day soon the scale will be my friend. Today wasn't the day though

Just curious, what radical changes have you made within your life (other than eating habits) while traveling down the lap band path? Divorce? Eyebrow piercing? Etc...

Size Goal Instead Off Weight.
JustMeDee replied to stokesmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would love to be in a size 12 by April when I walk again for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. I have a weight goal of 175 but if I'm not in the size 12 at that point then I'll continue to lose weight until I reach it. guess everyone is right, having a size goal instead of a weight goal will be less stress. -

Just Curious, Radical Changes
JustMeDee replied to JustMeDee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't been banded yet but I can see myself making some drastic changes once the excess weight is gone. For instance, I want to go into Public Relations and I think once the weight is gone I'll have the confidence to go after it. For now though, all I've done is cut about 7 inches of hair off and started styling it a little. This is a big feat for me since normally a bun was the best i could muster. ON a personal note I am scared to death my husband will decide to leave. Totally uncalled for fear since we get along great and don't currently have any issues... but it worries me that he married as a big girl and won't like the new me. -

Part #2 of question: Do you think having the lap band done was a direct cause for changes? -
Going Through The Process Yay!!
JustMeDee replied to kristinluvsfelipe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I check in once a month for weight and to tell them what I'm doing to loose weight. They like to hear that I'm cutting back on intake and excersizing. Congrats on the start of a new life. -

When Were You Ready?
JustMeDee replied to not me anymore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
about a year ago, when we took the kids to Busch Gardens and I had to get a belt extention for the rides. During the same trip...by the end of the day my back and knees hurt so bad I barely made it to the car. I knew my health was starting to be effected by my weight and I had to do something. I'm way too young to be having problems like that (34). Didn't know what to do until one day I started talking to my sister about it and we decided to get a consultation. Still very nervous about the whole procedure but looking forward to my future. -
after reading what Jim1967 wrote above I called Cigna and they did tell me the length of time has been changed to 3 months. Have a call into my doctor and hopefully he says i can have it done in August. Fingers crossed.
