    Ahhhhh

I drink 1-2 cups a day, hot or iced. I have given up so much already, like pop, that I can't imagine it can kill me to keep having coffee. It's a lifestyle change, not meant to stop your life!

    ??

If you want a very blunt and accurate idea, read my blog I have a post on my sleep study. It was kinda scary for me but turned out to be okay...and yes I now sleep with a dream machine.

This is weird.. I can eat

The concern here is that you are able to find someone that is medically certified in Lap-Band nutrition to help you on your journey. Your stomach has undergone a great deal of trauma with surgery and you have to be very careful with the follow up instructions so you can heal properly. It is incredible to me that there is such diversity where surgical procedures are concerned. GOOD LUCK!!

I think my scale is trying to be funny

    Now I know...

That sucks that you are in pain, but also, that is GOOD that you are feeling the signs from the band, they help us know what works and what doesn't and how to modify for next time =)

Thanks for sharing!! I know I need to start using some arm weights or my chicken wings are going to scare small children LOL

    After comsultation

As far as it went for me...your FIRST recorded weight when you meet the surgeon is the one that counts. After that it is expected that you will start to lose after surgery, especially with the liquid pre-op diet so they can't factor that in to qualifying. Good luck!!

    How long on liquid?

I am on liquid the rest of the day...mushies the whole next day...and then regular diet on day 3.
  13. I allow myself one fast food meal a week so that I stay motivated and usually it's.....two tacos from taco bell! They are only about 150 cals each, I log them in, and have still been losing consistently. This is a new lifestyle of not eating as MUCH....not of feeling disappointed if you crave Mexican. Don't be too hard on yourself!! Life is too short to never eat a taco!!
  14. So, I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but has anyone gotten a Tummy Tuck that has been covered by their insurance after weight loss surgery and if so.....how long after did you get it done, how much weight did you have to lose, and what was the process to qualify. I had a lengthy 11 month process to get banded but it was totally worth it as I got a free lap-band (completely covered by my insurance) and I was hoping to go the same route for a TT. I have heard that It can happen but I was wondering if anyone had any specific story. Thank you in advance!!

    Anxiety over being "Normal"

You might surprise yourself here! I am finding that it is easier and easier in these situations because most of the time I can indulge within reason and still stay on track. Maybe your goal for the weekend will be to maintain and not lose, that would give you a few more calories of wiggle room for a drink or two. Maybe you can squeeze in a long walk with friends or maybe dance at a bar and burn some calories that way. Either way we are all human and I'm sure it will be fine. Anxiety over these situations really sucks, I know because I am right there with you and sometimes even have to take a "chill pill" because I'm so nervous which is ridiculous....life is short, enjoy yourself then reassess afterwards and move on.

    personal question

LOL....to answer simply...YES!! When you are starting to live a healthy lifestyle you feel amazing and have great energy, and that makes you feel sexy regardless of how much you have lost or how much more you still need to lose. Since getting my CPAP machine, I am not tired at night anymore which has been a bonus, who would have thought?? LOL

    Discouraged but trying

At the end of the day, band or no band, it's all diet and exercise. I use myfitnesspal.com religiously, and try to get most of my calories from healthy foods and protein. I check the site often to stay motivated, blog, and attend my monthly support groups. I also completely cut out fast food and any type of pop (as recommended) which has been HUGE for me. Hang in there, you are doing great =)

What's on your "Do Not Eat" list?

I am happy to hear this because I too don't have any specific problems and I think...is that band really in there at all?? But of course it is, and I am following the rules and being careful and have been really lucky. I'm only 6 months out, so I only anticipate something eventually!

    Calorie Intake

My myfitnesspal.com app is set to 999 because I hit a major plateau after 5 months at 1150. I was also used to a huge amount of calories per day so even if I "cheat" or splurge up to 1500 cals about once a week, it is still a fraction of what I was used to so I will still lose my 1lb a week.

    time between fills?

My surgeon isn't as aggressive with fills because in his experience slow and steady wins the race. I got my band inserted without fill and got the first fill after two weeks (1CC) the second fill about two months later (1CC) and the third fill this week two months later (1/2 CC). Listen to your body, and your surgeon!
  23. ChicagoRose

Did he really just ask that???

I don't believe so. After my two week post-surgery check up I was encouraged to start exercising which included sit-ups if I so desired. Your question isn't weird, it's normal, the simplest things make us nervous of a slip. The first time I had sex four nights out of surgery I was SURE that my port was torn from my abdominal wall....LOL!!

    Can anyone have bread?

Same for me!! I decide if the calories are worth the meal and sometimes it's yes and sometimes it's no. I eat crackers, potato chips, popcorn, bread, pizza crust, buns, etc. A MUCH lower amount and frequency than I used to but they go down just fine =)
