banded in 2010 in the green zone life after lap band
ChicagoRose replied to stacamber's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes I have heard the same Missy, that they are great if you are prepping for a wedding or something but at 65 a month or whatever it is it's just not realistic in my oppinion. I'm just going to keep running and hold out for my tummy tuck in a year or two! -
I like the sweet chicken chili mcwrap ( I can eat the tortilla) from McD and I LOVE a Dorito taco from taco bell it's my FAVORITE!!

Everyday I ask god to give me strength
ChicagoRose replied to ineed2dothis4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't quite know where to begin with this one. Many of us have families and are juggling all the balls at once....kids, spouses, jobs, finances, etc. etc. I will say that having made myself a priority has made a huge difference in the entire dynamic of my house. Because I am so much stronger in every way, everything around me is that much better too. Sometimes kids can't come first if you want them to be the best they can be, I truly believe that. It has nothing to do with loving them less than yourself, it has everything to do with taking care of the key player which is you. Good luck with everything. Oh, and your daughter is an adult and needs to get moving on her life so that yours can be the best it needs to be. -
My lapband has changed my life.

PP and getting back on track
ChicagoRose replied to Enjelly's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hubby needs to be on board. he needs to know that this is super important to you and that you are not at the end of the road quite yet. If he isn't up to watching the baby when you go work out, do you have any other family or friends who would? Also some workout centers do start taking infants about that age. Good luck to you!! -
Belly swelling 12 days post op!?
ChicagoRose replied to Charlene Sands's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bloating lasted about 7 days and just went away on it's own after a LOT of walking around and keeping busy. I didn't have a hernia repair so I don't know about that part. Good luck =) -
1...an Exercise specialist is available through my bariatric center and is available for reference. 2....look online, there are A LOT of recourses and online personal trainers and personal training apps. 3.....WALK and do some strength in the arms...that's really where to start. Good luck =)

If you are on the fence about having the surgery....just do it! I debated it myself and wish I had done it much sooner than I did. Life is going to keep on going regardless of what you do today. I just found out someone my age (35ish) has been diagnosed with Cancer and it's breaking my heart. Life is short. Yes there is a risk of complications with any weight loss surgery, but you can also get hit by a bus in five years. Sorry this topic is so cryptic I'm just in a really emotional state this week and am reminded of how fragile life is and how happy I am that I took the risk because when it's your time, it's your time. Happy November my friends. There is much to be Thankful for.

Tell me about it!! I gorged on junk food yesterday giving myself a "day off" and feel like absolute crap today...yuck!! Back on track for us both =)

In that case, yes they are awesome! I like to make a stirfry with canned chicken (because it's so moist) and my favorite veggies with some light soy sauce =) That is how I have liked them best.

Gummies really aren't ideal for lap band patients because if it gets stuck it can't disolve easily. Also I was told my my Nut that bariatric vitamins are no different than non-bariatric vitamins, just a marketing thing. I take one children's chewable from Costco (Kirkland) and one vitamin is a serving for an adult. You will be able to mash it to dust after surgery and take it with your fluids if you take bites of it, that's what I did. The jar is huge and cheap.

I realize this is a STUPID question but...
ChicagoRose replied to Corridor72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No stupid questions on this website! Most surgeons do stich the port so that it will not flip, that is why the scar is the largest at the port site. However, there are several people on this site that will say their port did flip for one reason or another, I think it's just your personal physiology and how your surgeon did the sutures. -
I'm an elementary teacher and I took two weeks. My surgeon said average was one week but basically how much I wanted he would sign me off for and I had the sick days to take two weeks. I'm glad I did. I would have been physically able to work after about 7 days but between being on liquids and all the gas and bloating I suffered with (no pain though) I'm glad I was able to walk around my house instead of walking around the halls of a school. I say if you have the days two weeks will be perfect =)

ChicagoRose replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Fitness & Exercise

What was your favorite mushie?!
ChicagoRose replied to melanndoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite mushie was also fat-free refried beans with cheese...and sometimes some pureed canned chicken mixed with taco sauce and a little low fat sour cream. Kinda like the inside of a burrito LOL Enjoy =) -
Today is my 6 month Bandiversary!
ChicagoRose replied to LadyDiva618's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great Job!! I blog on blogspot because this website (although I love it) has proven to be unreliable. I have been trying to upload my 7 month all month and am already at 8 months now...frustrating!! -
3 weeks post op
ChicagoRose replied to lapbandcutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So you aren eating purees or you aren't? If you are eating purees, these are intended to be easy on your stomach while you heal and won't really make you full. I don't know if I would continue eating grapes though, I'm worried about those now and I'm 7 months out. For the best result make sure you follow your NUT directions as closely as possible!! Good luck =) -
Great Job! On Monday I will be 7 months post op and didn't lose a lb this month (but didnt' gain one either)...I guess that's half the battle. DEFINITELY very hard to keep losing so regularly at my lower BMI but will keep trucking along that's for sure =) Good luck!!

Ugh you are not alone...I totally blew it yesterday despite all my planning to get back on it. The only thing to do is move on. Today I have been really good and go for my jog tonight!

Interesting...are these different than tofu shirataki noodles? What are they made from?

It took my husband about two year before he came around and finally it was his "okay" that got me going, as much as I know I have to do this for myself, I just needed to hear that word to really do it. Now that it is all said and done, he is so proud of my progress and loving the new bod It's not easy, you still have to work your butt off I will tell you that, but it's something I don't regret at all and am so happy I did this for me. Good luck =)

To fill or not to fill?
ChicagoRose replied to bamamom911's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is also determined at my appointments if I need a fill or not. Right now I'm at 2.5 in a 10cc band. The days I think I really need a fill I look back at my diet and remember that had I eaten on plan I wouldn't have been do damn hungry. Either that or I know I ate a ton of slider foods so really the band didn't come into play anyways. When I eat what I am supposed to (lean protein, then veggies, then starches.....in that order) I feel satisfied and just fine. It's all a mind game in my opinion!
