Something To Think About.
ChicagoRose replied to pandabear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Iit is a for sure frustrating process with lots of ups and downs. I am 5 1/2 months into my dietary appointments and have yet to see an actual surgeon! I think that you are doing the right thing getting all the information neccessary to make the right choice for you. For me I feel like since the LB doesn't alter me physically, it is the right place for me to start. If something goes wrong or it doesn't agree with me physiologically it can be removed and then we will see what there is to see at that point. Good Luck! You are in the right place to air these concerns! -
1St Day Of Pre Op Diet And Question About Sils
ChicagoRose replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a deep breath! I doubt that little bit of cottage cheese is going to derail you! It could have been a snickers bar! It happened and you are sorry about it, and just move on. If this were easy none of us would be fat in the first place! Good luck and keep up the good work! -
Treated For Depression/anixity Pre Op??
ChicagoRose replied to gina418393's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I asked my primary the same question and she said I should not be denied because of my depression/anxiety medication and the psych eval is supposed to be solely to make sure you are sane and able to make a life changing decision. Good Luck! -
I asked this same question a few weeks ago!! Most people said that you can use your judgement and healing feeling as a guide but the general consenses was 5 days to a week! Enjoy =)
-
You are not alone, many of us feel the same! I happen to be married, but I was young and ballooned after I had my kids (and over ate WAY too much let's face it). I also hope to be banded by the end of this year. What you said about not doing it just for men but come on.......is TRUE. I am doing it for me, but come on I am doing it so that I am sexier and healthier to enjoy my husband more! GOOD LUCK =)

What Does Having The Lapband Feel Like?
ChicagoRose replied to SinCityGal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are in the right place! I'm in the same boat as you right now, still in the preliminary stages. That is a lot of quesitons for one post, but if you browse the forums you will easily find the answers to each. I have been a member of this sight for over a month now and have had all my questions answered and then some! I was nervous but the more I read, I feel more and more like I am making the right decision! GOOD LUCK! -

What Weight Will They Turn In To Insurance For Approval?
ChicagoRose replied to audreycat123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what i was told....you INITIAL BMI when meeting with the surgeon is the qualifying one and that if you loose weight in the process before surgery and drop below the 40 mark, you are good to go. My husband actually asked this question in our seminar. -
Hot In Cali When Can I Swim!?
ChicagoRose replied to sgmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been cleared to take a bath? If so I'm sure it's fine. I have not been banded yet but I have had two c-secions and as soon as my steri-strips fell off I was good to go. -
Just curious, why do you think it's not working? Also, for many it isn't an issue of a fat body but of health reasons and quality of life. Do you have someone to talk to about this? You chose to make a life-changing decision, it can't possibly be too late!!
-
I think that if someone asks, I will be honest. I am not Star Jones after all. I think while some people are just being nosy, many will really be curious and I want to be a role-model if I am going to make this drastic change.
-
I would think that a rowing machine would be MUCH harder than just walking. Also, you will be using mostly upperbody so that area should get toned. Good Luck!

I am in the process of being banded hopefully in the next 6 months and work as a teacher. I have had two c-sections in the past and both time was up and moving as soon as possible, walked, felt good, etc. after a few days. Has anyone had both LBS and a C-section and can compare? Just curious.

Whew...thanks everyone, that is what I was hoping to hear. I am going to try and time it so that it happens while on my Holiday break from school so I have two full weeks (Merry Christmas to me!) but I kwow that might not be in my control. I am still on month 5 of my dietary apointments, I won't meet with the surgeon officially unil the end of Sept!

2 Yrs In The Waiting Finally Banded On 7/25! Not Sure If Everything Is Normal?
ChicagoRose replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm no expert but I think that gas x is mostly for intestional gas, whereas the gas pains after surgery is from gas in and around the whole body cavity and can hurt in weird places. From what I keep reading, the only remedy is walking and patience. Keep up the good work!! <hugs> -
I have not been banded yet but i have heard using child-size dishes, bowls, and dessert forks helps with feeling like you have a whole plate full of food!

Mushy Food Ideas That Are Working For Me!
ChicagoRose replied to thunderbeast77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This was fantastic. I am not banded yet so I thought the "mush stage" would be baby food, yogurt, etc....what you describe is REAL food LOL and sounds delish, either in the mush stage or after. Thanks for sharing! -
The Grass Isn't Greener On The Gastric Bypass Side
ChicagoRose replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This was a great story to share!! Kuddos to you for following your own instincts on this one. I have not been banded yet, but I come on this forum daily and am continuously reassured that I am making the right decision. Keep up the good work!! -
I like the way you think Thank you to everyone who has responded! After all, If we can't be real with each other, who can we be real with?

Hey everyone, I'm not quite sure how to ask this so I'm just going to go for it.....I am still pre-surgery and typically enjoy intimacy with my husband a few times per week. I am wondering if anyone has had any problems with intimacy (discomfort, port sensitivity, etc.) after surgery. I did have two c-sections so I know I will have to take a few weeks to heal, etc., but I am looking forward to the positive benefit LBS will have on my intimate life LOL! Thank you!

Starting The Journey
ChicagoRose replied to deleted_opal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You've come to the right place! I am also going to be 35 and am in my preliminary stages of the procedure...no surgery date yet. I love coming to this website and reading all of the questions and answers that people share. Everyone is very real about it all and there is a fair balance of good and bad. Good luck with everything!! -
I felt the same way for the past two years and finally I said enough with the mixed emotions and put my foot down. Although I am still in the preliminary stages (still awaiting insurance approval) I am not letting any guilt or emotions get in the way. As I see it, I feel guilty that I let things go so far as they have... and I feel guilty that I have already wasted a few precious years of my kids life having to always sit on the sidelines out of breath. What I will not feel guilty about it making a life-changing decision that will benefit my whole family. GOOD LUCK! <HUGS>

Vacationing With People Who Don't Know
ChicagoRose replied to MemphisFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know that getting a lap-band can be a truly private matter, but at the same time it is a part of your life now, a part of YOU, and you should be proud to tell people that you made a life-changing decision to live a healthy life. You may find that these women that you are vacationing with will be an incredible support to you when you need it most! HUGS! -
I have not been banded yet, I am still in the qualifying process with my insurance, but I am ADDICTED to this website and do have a question. Both yesterday and today I indulged in a frappe style ice coffee drink (better do it now!) and joked that when I get banded I'll just put protien powder in it and it can be my lunch. I was only half-joking. I know I will have to give up my love for diet pepsi....but how about coffee/ice coffee/frappucinos?? THANKS my new friends <3

I'm naming mine Lola when I get it. Because on the "inside" I'm mysterious, sexy, and in control!
