best thing I ever did
ChicagoRose replied to gilda85_99@'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Did you make a ticker already? If you go to the edit profile section online (don't know from the app) you should be able to make the ticker and then when you edit your signature you can add it to your signature. Good luck =) and GREAT weight loss!! -
having a TRUE smile in pictures. I am certainly no the thinnest one, but I am also not the fattest one and that feels AMAZING!

Sorry to hear you are struggling. The key is fining the right formula for you and your band, and not always how filled up you are. I assume you are following a nutritionist program, but I myself have found that I need a few more carbs than my nut had prescribed for me. I loose more weight the weeks that I allow myself healthy carbs (like a bowl of special K or tortillas) than the weeks I stick to high protien. Also, I have found that I have to drink a capful of miralax in a zero calorie beverage every night to make sure my digestion is working if you get what I mean. Otherwise I am a miserable bloated mess. Good luck and hang in there...you can do this =)

What to eat after lap-band surgery
ChicagoRose replied to JACKIEO85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good answer as always Mis. A healthy lifestyle is good for eveyone, but it's very important to remember that everything in moderation is probably okay within the right portions and limitations. -
My mom, my biggest cheerleader, made me feel so alone tonight for the first time in this journey.
ChicagoRose replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay so maybe I'm going to get a boo on this one, but really, why can't you have something sweet after you eat? I got a band because I ate way too much and not because I had a hershey kiss here and there. I think that people who feel that you have to follow a super strict diet while being banded are unrealistic, if we could do that we wouldn't need a band!! I'm not a sweet eater, I'm a savory eater, and if I want a piece of pizza for lunch with the crust (gasp!) I eat it, because people aren't fat from one piece of pizza, they are fat from eating the whole pizza as I used to. So hang in there, you are NOT ALONE and we are here for you. I also take medication for both anxiety and depression and the generation your mother is from is not familiar with the very REAL effects of both on health and weight loss and unfortunatly you can't re-educate some people. I'm not your doc, but if you need a bite of sweet after a meal, maybe stock up on some sugar-free treats, or puddings, or hard candies? GOOD LUCK!! -
Carbonated drinks/alcoholic beverages
ChicagoRose replied to culverhouse5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have only had sips of pop (sorry, can't call it soda lol) and had no negative side effects. That being said I think overall it is not good for you regularly or if you are drinking full servings. As for alcohol, I have never been a big drinker but like to sip something when i'm out with friends. Again, I'll probably sip the same drink for the whole time and yes I do then count the calories in myfitnesspal and I HATE wasting calories on my beverages, but they are few and far between. Hope this helps! -
So I have noticed in the past week that when I sit for too long and go to stand, I feel a slight pinch at my port site. Other times, like while driving, I feel tenderness at my port site. I'm pretty sure it's just from my abdomen being scrunched together but does anyone else have this problem when sitting?? I see my surgeon again on June 4.

Need a fill refresher/re-education - just can't remember
ChicagoRose replied to NoMoBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, just like many, my band is tighter some days, and an open portal the next. I have also heard that the cc numbers really are different for each person and also that just because your cc number worked before your surgery, it might have changed now to a different requirement. Work with your surgeon and I'm sure you will get it all worked out. Good Luck =) -
It is kinda scary to make such a drastic decision, but if you know it's right for you, the only thing to do is go for it. If only we had a crystal ball, we would know how it would all turn out in the end, but we have to live for TODAY and so that's how I made my decision...all the time I would have spent wonding "if" I am now living a much happier and healthier banded life. Check out my blog and I tell you all about it!!

How filled are you and what got you stuck? I am 2.5 months out and only filled 1cc and am so scared of that first stuck episode! I am thinking about you!!
-
Take a deep breath! I too had to go through all those hoops and for me it was 10 months and 3 weeks from beggining to end of the pre-qual. Hopefully yours will go much quicker but the hard part is just getting all those appointments in a timely manner!

Good luck! It's crazy-amazing how your body starts to adjust to fewer calories and less carbs/sugar. Nothing so far has been as bad as I had feared it would be and I hope it stays that way LOL

Found out tonight, this is one journey I will have to conquor on my own
ChicagoRose replied to Justaprettyface's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You will STILL be able to eat out!! I was worried that I was going to become a debbie downer to my husband but everything has been the same and great. The only change is that I can't eat as much as I used to and I chose different things, portion control has been awesome for me, but I still eat pretty much what I have always eaten. It is a life change but a sustainable one. Check out my blog! -
Don't give up! What's done is done and you picked the band, give it some time. One of the "downsides" of the band is that the weight loss is much slower, only 1-2 lbs a week if that, so you can't compare yourself to your sleeve friend. It is proven to be not only healthier to loose weight slower, but also you skin bounces back better, and the weight is supposed to stay off better if the weight loss was slower. So hang in there!!

Pain meds will not relieve the gas, nor will any gasx or any other over the counter gas reliever because the gas is not in your bowls but in your body cavity from the laporascopy. The only thing that will make it go away is lots of walking and time =) And yes, it will go away, I promise!

You have to do it online, not through the app. Click on the "community tab" then on "Find Members" then the end of that first row has a space for "username or email" and you can enter usernames there. BTW I'm rcwilson02

Those rules are in place to try and keep you from getting anything lodged in the stoma...the stomach has to heal from the trauma of being banded for at least a month. I'm not your surgeon, but in my oppinion, unless they gave you permission to eat what you wanted, you may want to go back to liquid or mushies for a few weeks. Good luck!

Do you count calories or just watch what you eat?
ChicagoRose replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a myfitnesspal girl. I don't need to count... I know how much to eat and have decent restriction, but the control freak in me wants to COUNT lol! -

From what I've read...there are some pretty significant signs that something is wrong or you might have a band slip. After I was banded I too had a lot of anxiety, there is something new in your body and you have no idea what's going on in there. Try and relax, I'm sure your fist fill will go great.
-
I can see why You look GREAT, keep it up!!
-
Yes. In fact as you heal you will be able to feel it under that large incision. I just got my first fill which left a bruise and the needle went in directly under and centered from the large incision. Good luck =)

No restriction 3 weeks post op!?!?
ChicagoRose replied to Bandedlexi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

You will do GREAT!! I am 6 weeks out and I feel amazing!! YOU WILL TOO =) GOOD LUCK!
