Worried I am Going to Fail :(
ChicagoRose replied to jennybean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way but kept telling myself that the difference is this is NOT a diet. It's a new life with my band. A tool i worked very hard to get. You still have to diet and exercise trust me, but the band helps with that so you have a much better chance of success. You can do this!! Good luck. -
When I had my surgery I lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time and am now at the point where I am experimenting with fills and have hit a plateau. I lose about 3 lbs over the five day week, and then gain 3 lbs. over the weekend over and over and am so tired of it!! I am walking 2-3 miles almost every day and am trying to make good food choices but I do count calories on myfitness pal. It just seems like every weekend there is an event and I go a little crazy like an alcoholic in a bar. I can't just stay home but it seems home is the only place I am in control. Ugh sorry, I just had to vent.

I think it varies for a lot of reasons. The weather makes my restriction change. The times of day that I eat makes my restriction change. Different foods of course do that as well. I am only filled 2 cc in my 10cc band so I have a ways to go but I definitely feel differences throughout the week. What you are feeling is probably your signal to stop so try and enjoy it!

You can do this and when you do it will be well worth it!! Hang in there the hard part is almost passed!

Fought with someone .. having stomach pain.. Anyone else? Help
ChicagoRose replied to aug13hereIcome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow such a horrible thing to happen when you have just had surgery! I bet the stress of everything is taking it's tole and that area is going to be really sore on and off anyways for a while. I still feel a tinge of pain here and there in the port for various reasons and have just learned to expect it. Take care!! -
Calling all teachers!
ChicagoRose replied to PuraVida37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in March and I told whoever asked, I was an open book my philosophy was why lie when maybe i can motivate someone to make a change. I took two weeks off because that's what I was approved for but I could have gone back to teaching after a week. Good luck!! -
Is it possible to lose too much?
ChicagoRose replied to the shift lieutenant's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weight that you register when you meet the surgeon is the weight that counts. I had the same question and also was under the BMI requirement quickly but don't fret, you are supposed to lose a ton of weight that is what the pre-op is for! -
Broth truly only serves to satisfy you when you are tired of sweet options, there is really no nutrition and is empty calories which is why you might have been recommended only shakes I'm assuming? Call in if you are unsure but I don't see why there would be any reason you can't sip on some broth if you want.

Being REALISTIC
ChicagoRose replied to nicolelmartinez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like most of us, I was told 1-2 lbs a week which seems to be where I am at now even though I feel like I am at a plateau. We all want it to happen so quickly but the truth is that it is a process and takes time and we all need to be patient and not compare! -
Let me get this right...some of you drink soda? Whoa!!!
ChicagoRose replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have enough will power for a few sips, you can try and see if it upsets you. I allow myself some sips here and there but have not drank a whole beverage since I have been banded. Honestly it gives me hard core burps and upsets my stomach now that I'm not used to it anymore. For sure follow your surgeon's rules though. Someone on this forum posted that drinking pop let them to a slipped band and who knows if that was the culprit or not but I was super freaked out by that. Good luck! -
Fantastic!! Congratulations on your hard work!!

Finally have my surgery date!!!!
ChicagoRose replied to Ann Doss-Bright's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting that surgery date is a wonderful thing!! Keep up the postivie outlook and the whole process will be easy for you =) Good luck, you got this! -
I can take sips of pop (can't call it soda...lol) here and there when I want to freshen my mouth up but I never buy myself any pop anymore. Sorry you had a negative experience, only my surgeon does my fill and first shoots me with anesthetic and then the fill. Keep it up!

The irritability you are feeling is most likely due to the lack of protein and nutrients and NOT because of being on "liquids" so make those beverages count! Make sure you are getting lots of protein for the rest of the day in shakes or powder and don't worry, you will be back on food soon. I know every surgeon/story is different but I find it interesting that your first fill was a 3.6 which seems like an odd number. I have gone twice and have gotten 1cc each time to make two because my surgeon said why rush it and feel ill during the process. Good luck!!
-
Every one is different, and it takes time! Looks like you are doing wonderful as some patients on this website hardly loose anything throughout the process. Good luck!

I too have stalled for almost 6 weeks now and have looked into carb cycling as well. I also have looked into the 100 day real food challenge. I think any change will rev up the metabolism. Good Luck =)

Going to br banded 7/22 Monday
ChicagoRose replied to mrsbuc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone get's the jitters beforehand....it's like a marriage where you know it's the right thing to do but the commitment of the road ahead may seem terrifying. I too went back and forth, but always reminding myself that it was better to do it and cross the rough bridges, then to chicken out and just be fat and miserable. I'm not 4.5 months out and lost 50 pounds and my life is already totally different. Do it for yourself! Good Luck =) -
hungry the day after surgery? naseau
ChicagoRose replied to mommyofk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sadly, you have to stick with the shakes to escape the hunger and nausea. Or maybe chicken or vegetable broth will sit better with you. I think it's like 1-2 oz an hour or something to stay satisfied. Don't worry, this too shall pass and once you get on your mushie foods it will seem like a grand banquet! -
Aside from the horrible gas and bloating, you should be able to do most of what you usually do, but still take it easy. I had two c-sections so this was a day at the park! Good luck =)
-
Girl, if I think I know what you are talking about it's whenever you feel better....for me it was about 5 days. Good luck =)
-
First of all...congrats!! I am someone that has been a yo-yo dieter in the past so I had bins of smaller sizes under my bed. Even so I am treating myself to some cheap buys as I go because making myself feel better helps me stay motivated and look better and more confident.
-
haha....I'm laughing with you not at you. I feel the same way today, it has to be the heat, I feel like a bloated whale and don't feel like moving a muscle. I decided to not work out today but so I didn't feel so bad about it just ate VERY little and stayed away from carbs and salt.

When did you start putting Mederma on your incisions?
ChicagoRose replied to rbmk14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been wondering the same thing! I go to my surgeon on Tues and plan on asking him that very question. -
Wow! Date set for Tuesday! Whoo Hoo!
ChicagoRose replied to Mcrutchky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I told my kids every step of the way and they were 7 and 5. Kids can handle more than you think and it was comforting to them to know that I was having something done to my belly so that I would be healthier for them. I bet your ten year old will appreciate your honesty with this and be your cheerleader along the way but it's your choice! Good luck!
