My Hubby Doesn't Support Me Spending $15K For Surgery
Debi Morris replied to tango16's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I have to tell you my story. I have been placed on disability because of all my ailments. All of them except my back, I feel, are results from being overweight. I have felt so bad (ill), have had zero energy and have not felt like doing anything. Our social life has gone from always entertaining to not even going to events. Not even me and now everything about me has changed. I have cried and cried and told my husband how much I needed this for a second lease on life. I truly felt like if I didn't have this surgery I wouldn't be here in a few years to tell my story. I'm 56 and love life. I used to love doing everything with family and friends. Used to be the life of the party. My party came to a screeching halt! My husband finally realized the importance of this surgery. Not only for me but for our family, our children and grandchildren. I too had to pay cash and we took part from our 401 and part from a credit card with zero% interest for a period of time which we are paying back so we aren't paying any interest. I know if you explain how you know your health will do nothing but go downhill and how you need this tool to assist you not only in getting skinnier but more importantly getting healthier and during the process learn how to feed your family better choices for a healthier family (which means less money spent on medical care), I'm sure he'll come around. P. S. don't forget the part on how you'll become more amorous in bed Best of luck to you. Let us know WHEN you're successful and how you're WLS is coming along -
Just An Update! Upper Gi Completed
Debi Morris replied to Aliceinwonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my Upper GI and go for results next week. I will tell you my doctors told me exactly what your stateside doctor said. If I have a structure they go in as an endoscopy with a balloon to repair it. Just wanted you to know my doctor who is in Nevada and well know for WLS suggests the same procedure to repair. I wouldn't have GB right away. I don't think it's a necessary procedure to repair. I'll let you know what my dr says when I go for my follow up next week. -
On Friday I had an Upper GI test cuz I can't stand the acid reflux. I have my films and have to take them to the doctors with me next week. Not sure what they'll do because the doctor doing the exam told me, yep, you have reflu. So I'm not sure what my doctor is going to do but I will keep you posted.

Severe Nausea
Debi Morris replied to arisingphoenix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand how you feel. I'm five weeks out and what my dr gave me for nausea was suppositories. It was the only thing that worked along with grape pedialyte mixed with equal amounts of grape juice and that kept me from getting dehydrated. We're all so different. Stay positive and read these threads. Someone will have some good advice. -

Debi Morris replied to LadyIvy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slow Losers please don't go away. You give me the courage to keep working my plan. I am five weeks and 15 lbs and have felt like such a failure. Please keep posting. I need to stay encouraged by all of you and hope I can help you. Hurray to us slowbies! -

Thank you so much for the info -
I'm 5 weeks out as well and can tolerate just about any food at this point. What is it that you want but can't have or keep down?

Is This Normal?
Debi Morris replied to wannabeeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What my husband found for me and it kept me from being dehydrated was grape pedialyte mixed with equal amounts of Welchs grape juice. I could keep it down and it tasted great. I couldn't eat SF popcycles. SF anything makes me nauseaous. It will get better, I promise. -

What are slider foods? I've read this term quite a bit on here, yet have never been introduced to it? -
Just An Update! Upper Gi Completed
Debi Morris replied to Aliceinwonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I am having an Upper GI Series Friday morning due to acid reflux. I'm not sure if it's called Stricture but it was explained to me that scar tissue could be pressing along the staple line causing the acid reflux. The fix is doing an endoscopy type procedure by going down with a balloon and stretching that out. Sounds like what the doctor has told you. I will follow up with you after the results and meeting with the doctor. Till then......stay well! -
It sounds like you have my list of what I can have. I just hope this isn't the reason I'm having what seems to be, to me, slower weight loss. Again, if you have problems drop back to the liquid diet.

I wasn't placed on a pre-op diet so no. I actually feel like I lost out on so much. Everyone seems to have had so much care on here. I was to go to a class titled "Mindful Eating" which is offered once a month and I was out of town and have yet made it up. I did go to a Nutritional class but that was it. So I absolutely feel lost here. I'm not sure if it's because I can tolerate most foods I'm not losing or if I'm just slow. I might mention I'm on medication for my back which is known for weight gain. I don't want to use that as an excuse but it could be part of why I'm not losing at a faster rate. What is your diet right now?

I feel like such a failure in here. I was sleeved 5/15 and today is week 5. I've only lost 15 pounds. I know, it's 15 pounds I couldn't lose before but I read everyone's testimonies on here and they seem so much further in weight loss than me. Can anyone give me any suggestions or write down a day in your life (eating) for me? I appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks for the recipe. Sounds good ! -
Before my sleeve on 5/15, the only class I went to was a Nutrition Class. I missed my Mindful Easting class but plan to catch up on it. After 4 weeks I am eating a shake in the am, a soft sandwich like egg salad, cottage cheese or yogurt for lunch and soup, beans or chicken for dinner. Does anyone have a better meal plan or some better suggestions?
