July 2012 Sleevers? Please Share!
Ymabme replied to jnfrbnvds's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved July 27th, and, including preop, I'm down 46 pounds. I feel like this was a miracle. I'm out of plus sized clothes, have tons of energy, have no food intolerances, and feel great. I started running again last week and am slowly but surely feeling like my old self. I'm eating 700-800 calories per day, and upwards of 80 grams of Protein. I've started adding veggies and fruits, and have been trying to have some veggies at least every day. It's tough. I don't have a hard time getting my protein in, but I do have to work at it. -
I was sleeved at the same time as you and was told to stop crushing my meds after the first month. Maybe that will make a difference. I can't stand the crushed meds.

How Do You Manage It All?
Ymabme replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start and end my day with 8oz of water. That really helps me mentally to know I only have to fit 6 cups in throughout the day. I'm either eating or drinking all day long, nit seems. Honestly my biggest struggle is vitamins. I have to take with food in order to not get sick, but I also need to drink water after for the same reason. Vitamins have been my biggest struggle post op. -

What R U Eating 11 Day Postop?
Ymabme replied to pattivalvo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on July 27. I was given purees in the hospital, and was on them for 2 weeks. Now I'm eating "soft food" which basically means no really fibrous things, only really well cooked veggies, canned fruit, or veggies. For dinner tonight I had turkey meatloaf and like 2 pieces of green beans. It's crazy to me how different the plans are, but I'm following mine to the letter, so I'm ok with that. -
I do hot protein coffee. One scoop of protein powder mixed with a little bit of cold milk (1/8 cup or so), and mix until it is smooth adding more milk as needed. Then slowly pour hot coffee in to the mix while stirring constantly. Works great and I love the comforting feeling of my warm cup of coffee in the morning.

I was sleeved on July 27. Prior to my preop diet I weighed 249 pounds. Today I weigh 227. I'm amazed with the feeling that real, sustained weight loss may actually be possible! I'm on purees, and have been hitting my Protein goals, but falling short on fluids. I am really going to focus on that today. I finally started to feel a little hungry yesterday. It was a nice change from feeling like I never wanted to eat again. I still have some significant pain, but am trying to wean myself off of pain medicine. I'm gaining more strength every day. I plan on going back to work a week from Monday, and I do a significant amount of walking at work, so I've been walking (slowly) on the treadmill each day. And, I have a job interview on Tuesday! Crazy timing, but I'm hoping I can be off the pain medicine in time, have more strength for sitting up in a chair, and the stamina to be "up" for it.

Baby Food ? What Time Of Protein Shakes?
Ymabme replied to angelofmercy36's topic in Food and Nutrition
So far plain Greek yogurt with a little crystal light is sitting well. I've also had retried beans with melted cheese and scrambled eggs with melted cheese. I cannot eat enough to get to my protein goals, so protein shakes are a must. -

Fruit juice. I also savored one last sprite. It was delicious. -

Hi everyone! I'm doing good. Pain is under control. Just had breakfast of puréed eggs and cream of wheat. Hoping to go home today!

Good Luck tomorrow!

My post op diet is 2 weeks of purees, 2-3 weeks of soft foods, and then regular diet. It is amazing the differences!
