What Are You Looking Forward To?
mkamai replied to note2bear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Buying clothes in a regular store, not minding the booth at a restaurant, no more seatbelt extensions -
Not sure where to post this but here goes I have a tattoo on my left calf that my mother in law swears is shrinking. I don't see it and pointed out to her that my calves are pretty muscular and shouldn't shrink much if at all Any one have any issues with this? I realize it's pretty immaterial to my overall health but thought I'd ask

I used to love a cup or two of coffee in the morning. I waited 2 weeks after surgery to try some and man that was a bad idea. Tore me up and acted like a laxative. At least I have a remedy if I ever get constipated

Will I Ever Enjoy Eating Again?
mkamai replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe we all place too much emphasis on enjoying what we eat. We should all concentrate on the better things in life, not worrying about our sustenance. For me part of my weight problems were the fact that all I did was think about the next thing I could put in my mouth, I still have those thoughts, only 3 weeks out, but I can already feel them waning. I still remember how things taste and reflect on those at times of real trouble. I also try to revise the food items so that I can eat them. Deconstruct a Reuben sandwich and you get some lean meat (trim the fat please), cheese, sauerkraut and a little sauce, minus the bread of course but just as satisfying. -
I think the best thing we can do with this procedure is to listen to our bodies. They will tell us when we need something or have had to much of something. Just don't ignore the signs. Just my two cents...

I put fruit and frozen low fat yogurt in mine. Made all the difference in the world. Made them a bit thicker and thus slower to drink but varied it up and made them palatable

I was right there with ya just a week ago. It turned the corner quickly for me. One day I felt like hell and then just a couple of days later and I felt way better. It will improve!

I started at 436. Lost 48 preop. Sleeved June 6 and today weighed in at 352. Weight loss actually stopped for about a week at the two week postoperative stage. Lost nothing for a week then yesterday was down 3 lbs. I was cleared to eat whatever I want a couple of days ago. So far I get no more than 2-3 bites of anything and I fell stuffed. It subsides after a couple of hours and I usually have some kind of low cal snack like a popsicle. Go back to work Saturday and I'm kinda looking forward to the distraction. Three weeks has been along time sitting around thinking about my stomach and food all day

My dr told me to expect this. As we lose weight are body adjusts and sometimes it causes pain. Mine is in my upper back and neck. She gave me naproxen which works great and doesn't upset my stomach

I'm just over 2 weeks post surgery and for the last two days have been getting dizzy often. I'm totally hydrated and am still drinking protein shakes as well as some soft foods. Can't eat much at all maybe 2 ozs at a time Is it just a lack of food or what?

Anyone Recieved Plastic Surgery In Mexico?
mkamai replied to ValerieSJackson's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My pcp told me a while ago that she can probably get the insurance to pay for plastic surgery/skin removal as long as its documented well and can be considered a health risk physically or mentally -

Advancing Diet Sooner Than Reccomended
mkamai posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 1 week post op and have been doing really well on liquids. I tried some mushy food last night, just a bite or two and was fine. What would the problem be skipping to something other than liquid sooner than my dr recommended? I'm thinking like a little chili without Beans or some slow cooked chicken, very soft and moist -

Insurance Coverage Without Co Morbidities?
mkamai replied to Sannah's topic in Insurance & Financing
Yes it was medically supervised weight loss I saw the doctor monthly and the weight loss program for me was self driven. Just cut way down on carbs and sugar. Lots of Protein and light exercise As for postop I don't feel like I am really doing much at this point. Just staying hydrated and getting the Protein shakes down. Stomach aches pretty much all the time but it's only been just over a week. I'm very happy I went through with the process and really feel like it will work for me long term -
Honestly the pain wasn't that bad. Mostly just kind of a dull ache with the occasional twinge. I caused myself more pain reaching for things or twisting I don't sit still well. You will be fine and really happy to see and feel the weight come off. I'm down 21 lbs in just 9 days. It makes it worth it
