Hey everyone! I was banded 6/4/12. I currently have 8 cc's. My question is this.. in the morning, my band feels more restricted. In the evening, it feels lose. I feel like I can eat anything (but don't, usually). Is this normal? Thanks!!

Lapband And Wine Or Alcohol Once In Awhile?
phoenixkristin replied to tonyann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got drunk for the first time since my surgery last night. My surgery was June 4th. I did drink a couple beers (we were playing beer pong) but mostly I did vodka shots. My secret to never being a cheap date is to drink lots od poweraide zero while drinking. It keeps you very hydrated. As far as carbonation goes, I don't have discomfort. I just can't chug it. Small sips are best. -
My doctor has no issues with patients drinking carbonation as long as it's diet and not regular.. and in moderation. I was banded 10 weeks ago, and occasionally I have diet coke. I take SMALL sips. And like another poster mentioned, having fountain or 2 liter soda helps lessen the carbonation. I never get uncomfortable or burp when drinking it. I just take it easy.

Newbie Question: Not sure what just happened to me- if I got stuck, slimed, or what! Help me out here. I was eating lunch. I started with 5 crackers. I didn't think that would be too rough (I have 5cc's in my lapband AP). So I finished the crackers and immediately felt this intense chest pain. I tried to let it pass. I figured maybe I was stuck, so I chewed up a couple papaya enzymes. No relief. I started to get a hot sweat. I ran to the bathroom and puked. When I puked- it wasn't food. Just a huge ball of saliva and slime. Huge. Was that a sliming and stuck combo? I am NEVER eating crackers again. LOL. I still have some chest pain...

For those of you banded with Curry, please share your experience. I am currently a patient, was banded about a week ago. I've got no complaints now, but i've heard a couple from various people. If you are or were a patient, what is or was your experience like?

Bandster Hell Is Among Me!!!
phoenixkristin posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone, I was banded on 6/04/12. I have not had my first fill yet. That is two weeks from now. In fact, I don't feel like I've had surgery at all! It's pretty crazy, I can eat whatever. I've gained 2 of the pounds back I lost on preop! I know I've got to be patient and continue to work hard. But does anyone have any words of advice or support you can give? I'm not the most patient person, but I'm working on it. ~ Kristin -

Looking For A Cincinnati Buddy!
phoenixkristin replied to phoenixkristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can see why it would be scary, but it's really not as bad as it sounds. You just have to stay focused. If you get unbearably hungry, email Erin, the dietician. She let me slide with a chicken breast. -

Looking For A Cincinnati Buddy!
phoenixkristin replied to phoenixkristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pre-op wasn't bad. I got to do Medifast, which was tiny (kinda gross, but okay) servings of Soups and shakes from the doctor's office. You got to do 5-6 packets a day and unlimited Water, Jello, broth. Kind of sucked, but I survived. LOL -
Looking For A Cincinnati Buddy!
phoenixkristin replied to phoenixkristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, okay. So do you travel down to the Cincinnati office? It didn't take long to get approved or get surgery. I am on BCBS, and typically they would have you do a supervised 6 month diet, however- I was able to bypass that by showing them my years of records from being a Weight Watchers member. So I really just had to go to a couple office visits with Dr. Curry, then schedule my surgery. I scheduled my own surgery a month later than I could've got in- we went on a cruise and I didn't want to be recovering on the ship. They are all pretty nice though, and all easily accessable. I email back and forth with the dietician and she is prompt in responding. Also, I had to email Dr. C the other day with a question about my incision, and I emailed him a photo along with it so he could see what I was talking about. The office was closed, but he emailed me back in about an hour even though it was his off time. I give them 2 thumbs up! -

Hernia Repair During Surgery
phoenixkristin replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hiatal as well, had no clue it was there! I was banded less than a week ago, but I also had intense pain in my chest. I just got up and kept moving, and ignored it to the best of my abilities. Moving and walking really helped me out!
