Phase 2 Question: Dr. Kim
LesKra replied to LesKra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@singlemama ... I remember chatting with you the day we got our staples out! So good to see a familiar face on here! They sent me straight to the ER because I was having pain in my arm. It turns out that I had a blood clot from my wrist to my elbow. I just got out of the hospital Saturday. It has been crazy! -
Phase 2 Question: Dr. Kim
LesKra replied to LesKra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See that's what I thought! The book says on page 31 that it is weeks 2-3 both at the top and in the gray box on the side. But if you read a little further down it says in bold that this phase should last 3 weeks after phase 1 is tolerated. I had my surgery the 18th as well. I think the nurse wasn't sure what she was talking about and then i confused her. I was so excited to start phase 3 Monday but now I just don't know what to do! -
Post Op Nausea And Vomiting
LesKra replied to smartypants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up to vomiting in a bag ( sorry TMI ) right after surgery. I was nauseous and threw up a couple of times ( more like dry-heaved more than anything ) for the first day/night or so. It really wasnt that bad. I have been fine ever since. They sent me home with pills to prevent it but I didn't need them! -
I had a bad experience with my iv site. The nurses let my hand swell and wouldn't remove my iv until I bugged them enough. It turns out that the iv gave me a blood clot from my wrist to my elbow. ( they kept trying to pump fluids into me) If it is swollen and hurts you should get it check ASAP. It put me back in the hospital for 5 days.

Dr. Kim is my doctor and I had my surgery in Dallas at Forest Park Medical Center on the 18th of this month. I had to stay an extra night because my heart rate was too high. The floor doctor thought that there may be a possiblity of having a blood clot in my lungs so they did a CT Scan on me but everything turned out fine. Buttttt the nurses had an IV in my hand and let it balloon double the size ( where my wrist bands were indenting in my arm ) and after a couple of times bugging the nurse to move it she finally did. I went home on June 21st. I had been doing okay but still was very sore on the arm with the IV and some back pain. I went for my first post-op appointment at his office in Colleyville and after talking to the PA about what was going on; they removed my staples and I did the barium swallow. After that they sent me straight to the ER at Forest Park Medical Center. It turns out that I had a blood clot in my arm that the jacked up IV was in. They think that I left the hospital with it when I had my surgery. They admitted me and I will be here for 4 days. They did an ultra sound and Doppler on my other arm and legs and also put me trough two more CT Scans...md everything else looks good. They put me on blood thinners and stuff. This was very scary for me. I am not sure why I didn't hear much ( or research ) about blood clots...I think I was more focused on having a leak in my sleeve. Anyone else have this happen to them recently? Any advice? Very scary! I felt like the perfect person for the surgery. I am healthy (despite being over weight) and I am 23 years old and very motivated! So weird and I never expected it!

Thank you everyone for all of the sweet and kind words! I was on the third floor! They did give me the hepporon in the gut...I still have a massive gross bruise from it and they had also given me a shot in the arm (same arm that the blood clot is in & above the elbow) of the stuff. I am now on the Lowvanox and Cummadin to hopefully it get taken care of. The blood clot runs from my wrist to my elbow. Hopefully everything will go smooth but apparently it is a pretty long journey from here on out

I was sleeved June 18th by Dr. Kim in Dallas, TX. I am fixing to start my stage two phase which is the Full Liquid Protein, which is two weeks. The book says that I need to purchase Fat Free Cream Soups ( American Heart Association green label with heart ). I bought a few ( tomato, cream of chicken, and cheddar cheese ). All of them are the heart healthy ones with the logo but we couldn't find the fat free ones. These have 0g trans fat per serving and between 1.5-2.5g of total fat. Are these okay? What did y'all use? Help!

I am new to this site ( I've been reading a lot on it but have never posted until now ) and I am being sleeves on June 18th. I know most of my questions have been answered a million times probably but I still want to ask again. 1. What should I bring to the hospital to wear home? I know they say something comfy but since the incisions are on the stomach...would you recommend big shorts and a oversized Tshirt or like a one piece night gown? 2. Being put to sleep. I'm scared about it. Of course i had the EDG already and i woke up out it crying hysterically. I didn't hurt at all, wasnt scared or anything, and was fine 5 min later. I just didn't have control over my emotions. Anyone else experience that? Will it happen when I wake up from surgery? 3. Pain levels. I am pretty healthy despite being overweight and having asthma...can anyone in my boat tell me how they felt right after surgery? 4. Tell me what you wish someone would have told you before you did this. Thanks!
