    lap band over rny

Depending on which type of RNY you have you can either get an extended RNY (but if you don't change your eating habits that is going to prove temporary too ( ) or you can get a band after procedure. (band after bypass) I'd opt for the band after, it will force you into better eating behaviors more so than an extended RNY. Have you had a barium swallow to measure your pouch and stoma? That's the first thing that has to be done.

Surgery in Mexico and coming home less 1 organ!

HAHAHA!! That's an urban legend. You can ask for an OR buddy but you aren't going to get it. Non medical/non staff are not permitted in the OR. And why in the world would you go to a doctor you couldn't trust to leave your pancreas alone? I mean, I realize urban legends scare you (??) but if you went to a doctor that you had to hire a babysitter for, why would you go to begin with? Com'on .. this post can't be for real! Nobody believes this stuff.

Dr. Aceves In Mexicali Mx. (( ROCKS !! ))

I admit, I love my sleeve. It is much easier in my case. Nothing gets stuck, no sliming or foaming, just a little stomach. I love it. And yeah, Dr. Aceves is pretty cool!

Thing is.. after their own honeymoon phase they are back to doing the same thing as everyone else, watching their diet, cutting back on carbs, and exercising. They have people that are not losing, people that are gaining, etc. They are no different from any other WLS type except that they stink.

And they STILL can't comprehend why we don't want DS too! Freak'en amazing. I still can't wrap my brain around their inability understand. You gotta be pretty desperate to want a cookie that bad!

OMG they are rating their poops/farts smells. Honest to zog, how desperate does one have to be to eat crap and be thin anyway? I don't get it.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

It just blows my mind that they really can't comprehend why we wouldn't want the same surgery type. They really don't get it. I guess eating crap food is that important to them. NOTHING is that important to me! I mean NOTHING!

    My port is tilted

A sleeve is where they surgically make your stomach smaller, remove Ghrelin (a hormone that tells you that you are hungry, sleeved people do not experience hunger for the most part), and there is no aftercare, no maintenance whatsoever. I love it! A little better and faster weight loss than a band and the fewest long term risks and complications of banding and bypass.

Isn't it kinda funny that someone would be ashamed of being a DSer? Can you imagine in REAL TIME? How humiliating. We love you Froggi, you are a fav!

Someone else to watch your procedure?

There is a period before you are draped in sterile sheets. Getting from point A to point B... butt nek'ed.

Head hunger - will it ever go away?

I don't think head hunger ever goes away completely but with time you learn to control it and it isn't much of an issue anymore. There is another thought too, Luvox. Luvox is a drug for OCD. For some people it makes a difference of night and day for obsessions with food. I only have head hunger full force during TOM but if I take Luvox then, it's a non issue. Just something to research and consider.

That CAN NOT be enough food!!

HA! It takes getting used to. Pretty soon you'll be sitting in a restaurant and seeing these HUGE jumbo size portions of food people are eating (the stuff WE used to eat) and you'll be amazed that they can cram all that food in there. Your mind will catch up, give it time.

Does Anyone Eat Full Fat Products Such As

I have always used the full fat stuff. We eat so little food an extra 20 calories or so just doesn't matter. I like it better and when I was banded it went down easier. Full fat products here!

    "Stand Up Straight, Young Lady!"

A lot of people who are banded have to sit/stand up straight or they get stuck. I was one of them. If I was slouching I'd barf. Posture is an issue for many banded folks while eating.

Someone else to watch your procedure?

Nope, not a family member and especially not an RN or MD family member. It's not going to happen. Think about it, if something were to happen in OR the docs do not want your husband in the way if they need to act quickly. If he is not an RN/MD he's not going to know what he can go near and what he can't. He's be in the way of the docs and do you really want that when they have sharp pointy things inside of you doing delicate work? ;o)

    Just ate....

I am a veteran bandster and newbie revision, band to sleeve. I just ate 15 chickens, 2 hams, 4 potatoes, a steak and some taffy. Did I mess up my staple line? ;o) (okay, I had to do this. It was a dare.)

    Just ate....

I admit, I love the sleeve. I never did eat all that food last night, there was no way. And let me tell you, I tried! I put forth serious effort but I couldn't do it. Four bites was my limit. PJD: Why would you want reversible? Is there some reason you'd want to regain all your excess weight? ;o) I thought the same thing at first, that's why I got a band. What I didn't realize is that the only reason to remove your band is if the band itself is causing problems. Now that I'm a size 4 I'd do just about anything to PREVENT reversible, I don't want to regain 130#. If you want some info email me through the LBT system and I'll send you a bunch of studies and such. I'll send you a bunch of links, sleeve info, everything. Without trying to hijack this very important thread on food (heh) here are a few stats: Band: lose 1-2# weekly Sleeve: lose 2-3# weekly Band: lose 50-70% of excess weight Sleeve: lose 70-80% of excess weight The sleeve has the fewest long term complications compared to bands and bypass.

Someone else to watch your procedure?

I've watched my friend's surgeries but I am a nurse and I know what not to do. ;o) I doubt anyone will let your guest watch. I know it wouldn't happen in your typical US or Mexican hospital. Not sure you'd want anyone watching, you are butt nek'ed and spread eagle. Might want to think that one through. LOL

    Just ate....

This stuff is soooo good! I eat, burp, eat some more, and veg for awhile. I keep Text Messaging KittenQutie (she's out of town on business) telling her that Gma can COOK! This damn sleeve works too well!

    Just ate....

OMG this food is so good! As many know I was on liquids for 4 months so I've been trying to make up for lost time with food since my post op diet allowed solids. KittenQutie is out of town and Grandma needed some things from the store so I took her. When we got back to her house she had made chicken, homemade Mac & Cheese, corn bread, potatoes, and greens. I never ate greens before, didn't think I was gonna like the stuff. But you know what? THIS IS SO GOOD! OMG! It's taking me forever to eat, two bites and I'm full. I gotta learn to eat around a sleeve! Grandma's know how to cook so well. She's going to teach me to make greens and someday I'm going to do it. I'm in heaven. Grandma food is sooo freak'en good! And btw, I'm not sharing, I'm not giving any away, I'm not even letting the dog try it. It's MINE! If it takes me all night to eat this plate of food, so be it. My evening is planned!

Ohhh sheesh... that one just hit me. A sexy DSer in a teddy.... can you imagine... I mean, think about it. Sex with a DSer. Gahhhh Nothing like the fresh scent of sewer delight perfume! Froggi: Hubby or b/f will LOVE it! Jaime: QUICK! Let's buy stock in the company before Froggi gets her DS!

    Surgery in Mexico

I really had no problems after my band or my sleeve. I was able to do anything an everything at about day #3 or #4. Specifically, what complications did you have?
