Alberto Aceves, MD-FACS Certified Bariatric Surgeon Rumbaut and Zapata are also great but they are a more expensive flight in Monterray.

Oh, I don't know. What you say is true yet it isn't. You have to understand the history and been a member of OH band boards where banding couldn't even be discussed on the band boards because the stinky ones were taking over the threads. Every newbie was attacked and slam dunked for daring to consider a band. Those at goal were told they were liars and couldn't possibly be at goal. Others were telling at goal folks that there is no way they would stay at goal with a band. They still use old studies that were "completed" in the late 90s as today's results. There was a different surgical technique used then and people were indeed slipping and eroding left and right. They present these studies to today's noobs and tell them there is no way they can lose weight with a band. They call it the laugh band, choke chain, leash, etc. You really had to see one of these threads where they were attacking banded folks in a banded forum for being so stupid, naive, and ignorant to get a band. They were like Fred Phelps recruiting newbies. It was so bad OH banned a few of them, moderated many of them, and moved legit newbie threads to their R&R forum. Their R&R forum is NOTHING like this forum. Here you attack the idea and not the person. There, you attack the person and have fun doing it. These were newbies that were just trying to learn about their options that were attacked left and right. They still try to take over the band boards here and there but now people are fighting for their own board. It's a pity they have to fight to just discuss banding without the harassment of the stinky ones. To imply we are doing the same is a bit of a stretch. Well, it's a hell of a stretch.

But you have to admit, there is kinda more to that story. With ANY WLS type you have to do your part, too. Even DSers have to watch carb intake or they stink and gain weight. I think that is the biggest problem I have with DSers other than the obvious. They make it seem like they can eat anything and never gain a pound. They are just like RNY, LB, or sleeves, they have to watch what they put in their mouths.

The US is probably the only country that refuses to treat obesity. We will treat seriously obese and morbidly obese in some situations, but not obese. The rest of the world bands and does various WLS at a BMI of 30. WE are the folks that are wrong IMO, not everyone else. It's not abuse, it's smart thinking. I would hope someone would band a 30BMI person vs. waiting for joint damage, etc. Seriously, at a BMI of 30 someone already IS obese. What's wrong with treating it before it gets as bad as we were?

They have always been that way. I met one lady before she had surgery, Peach, I think that is her ID. She was really sweet, reasonable, open minded, didn't hate everyone around her. Damn if she didn't turn into a big 'ol B after she had her surgery. I think it is the follower mentality. Do as the leaders do I guess. I guess being a big 'ol B makes you part of the club? ;o)))) But then again, if I smelled like that I might not be all sweetness and light either.

I have her blocked so I can't see her posts. One thing I don't care for that DSers do is they pull up old studies from '98 when the old surgical technique was being used (and failing) and infer these are current studies. They aren't. The complications are not the same today that they were 10 years ago due to surgical technique. I guess if that is all they have.... ??

One of their employees came over to OH's sleeve board slam dunking someone a few weeks ago. She's a nurse that works there. Apparently this nurse (an LPN) was "counseling" someone on their inability to lose weight days or weeks prior to this thread. She thought one of the posters on OH was the person she was counseling (her license does not permit her to do this, btw) and turns out, they were two very different people. She was telling others in the thread about the posters personal issues. Again, turned out she was dead wrong but she thought she was telling about the poster. This was in retaliation for what the poster was saying about Bariatriceating.com. You won't find many sleeve folks that will buy from them. I think it's probably time to find that thread and let the newbies know what bariatriceating is all about. BTW, many complained to bariatriceating about the behaviors of their nurse. They didn't care, made no difference to them. The reason they are out of things all the time is because they can't pay their bills on time and manufacturers stop sending shipments until they pay their past due bills. I was offered a job by a company that would have sold products to bariatriceating and the first thing I was told was to be careful about sending products to them until they pay their bills. Turns out, I backed out of that job the day before I was to start but it was interesting to hear the scoop. ;o) It's just a very poorly run company. Their products are over priced, their morality is ... well, they don't have any, their customer service sucks, their packing is poor and you receive items that are crushed and broken, they don't stand behind their products, they post personal details about their customers, they are about as rude and without class as you can be, overall they just suck. No way would I support such a company.

There are much better places. Bariatriceating.com is about the most expensive place on the internet to buy products. They have the morality of a stray alley cat.

If you have sincerely investigated ALL surgery types, you know everything you can about all of them and banding is for you, go for it. If you have not researched all surgery types, better get that done. Nonono... I'm not suggesting DS. I am suggesting that you become an expert in every WLS type.

I did not realize my BMI was 41. My doctor requires an Atkins diet for 7 days for a BMI of 40+. I did not do a pre op diet. I ran 7 miles daily or hard cardio 1-2 hours daily during the weight loss stage. Matrix 5.0 or whey Gourmet Choco/PB. My doc requires two nights in the hospital after surgery. I brought everything! What did your MD suggest?

No, the band doesn't just stop working. You have to be consuming enough calories to not only maintain your weight but gain weight as well. I would start tracking your food, you are getting more calories than you realize. liquid calories? Start tracking your food and start there. Exercise, how many hours weekly are you doing hard cardio? Weight training? How many carbs are you eating daily? Carbs would be sugar, Pasta, anything with flour, potatoes, rice, etc.

Hmm... If you are gaining weight you can clearly eat. What are you eating? Are you tracking calories? How is your restriction? When was your last MD visit?
