Your stomach will hold about 1.5L (think of a 2L bottle of soda). Even at our biggest binges it's unlikely anyone ever ate that quanity of food in one sitting. You are very likely safe from stretching your stomach. Now your pouch, that's a whole different story.

Well, that isn't what you wrote in your original post. You wrote that it will never go back into position. You are correct, it will be more easily stretched once it is stretched once. But that does not take away from the fact that your information in your original post is not what you are claiming now. Your stomach is designed to hold a large quantity of food. That's what it does.

Your information about the stomach is incorrect. I'd suggest you ask TWood what the size of his stomach is right now. He had a severe infection resulting in a leak when he was banded and he's been on a feeding tube. His stomach was just xrayed with dye a couple of days ago. Ask him how big his stomach is. If you dilate your pouch it doesn't stay that way, typically an unfill and liquids and the stomach goes from it's stretched state to its normal state. If it never went back into position after dilation then everyone with a dilated pouch would need surgical correction and they don't. The vast majority do not. Your stomach is designed to hold a large quantity of food, that's why I like the sleeve. Mine won't stretch, the elastic part of my stomach was removed leaving the more muscular portion. You are not catching on to what I have explained in detail. You couldn't stop your sinful nature without a man made product, you and your god couldn't do it alone, you needed human doctors. Yet you are demanding more of those that don't practice the same sins as you. God didn't advertise the lap band, an advertising company did with logos and such. Inamed and J&J pay big bucks to make sure lap band lap band lap band is under your nose each place you go. TV advertising, MD office advertising, mags, newspapers, you can't go a day without hearing about the lap band. Why in the world would you suggest your god is responsible for the hard work of advertising agencies paid millions of dollars by drug companies? Seems to me god didn't help you, advertising agencies and drug companies did through THEIR hard work. I do not vote by religion and I do not vote according to atheism. I vote according to what I believe is best for society. I let people have their religion or lack of, I vote for the best person for the job or the best proposition. People voted for bush due to religion and look at the mess they got us into? BTW, atheism is not a religion. ;o)

Okay, got'cha. We need laws we cannot enforce for sins you do not partake in but when it's a sin you enjoy, we don't need no stink'en laws. Have the laws on the books stop prostitution? Do you see the hypocrisy here? This is exactly what people are trying to explain to you but you can't see the god because heaven is in the way. (My own version of you can't see the forest for the trees...heh)

Where in the world did you get this info from? It is quite incorrect. Why didn't you do this? Why didn't you just realize that your life was sinful, have a desire to get out of that lifestyle and then leave the rest up to your god? Noooooo, YOU depended on a man made device, didn't you trust your god to get you through this? That's what you expect of others. Sin is a xtian concept. Aren't you suggesting that you have the right to inflict your religion on others when you vote according to religion? Not everyone agrees that it is a sin and not everyone agrees that what a religion feels is sinful is acceptable to force upon non xtians. You know, at the rate xtianity is dropping and Wicca and atheism are climbing, it's not wise to push your religion on others. When we start legislating religion you need to remember that in a few years it won't be your religion that is being crammed down the collective American throats. Do you really want to set standards that religion rules? You might just get what you ask for but it won't be xtianity that is ruling your day to day life. A smarter person would look outside the box, speaking in general terms... of course. Who made you responsible for tough love and prostitution? How is this your business?

I think various groups have their own lingo and short cuts for expressing a thought. I see a difference in fundamentalism vs. fundies. A fundie is an extreme nutjob, not someone firm in their beliefs. I'm used to using that term on atheism boards. ;o)

We have 'em within atheism too. The extremists, those with the superiority complex, etc. You guys have your fundies (extreme nutjob types is what I am referring to) and we have our fundies in atheism as well. They are out non stop to disprove any/every god while bashing every theist around. Your fundie types want your religion spread throughout our gov't and my fundie types want religion outlawed. They are both bizarre groups. ;o) I think we should take them all and put them on an island and let 'em duke it out. You know, I have the attitude that if someone believes in religion they have a need for that belief within their path. It's serving a purpose so I see no reason to try and change their minds. But, if they start coming at me and trying to cram it down my throat then things change. When the superiority routine starts in I don't take it anymore. I used to but no more.

Nahhh, I'm not going to take a look at your god again. BTDT. Your god is a little too hateful for my tastes. If I wanted to create a god he would be a much kinder and more gentle god than the one the xtians came up with. Four of them are telling everyone who your doctor is and how much you love him and 3 posts are telling us what we can and cannot post. How supportive is that? What does it have to do with food or weight?

I understand your point, but... if one is to draw morality from a book not everyone would agree that there is a great deal of morality in that book. Have you ever seen God's Hit List? It's a list of all the people he killed or had killed. We can justify that and say he's God and gets to do any darn thing he wishes, but it doesn't make him a very nice God.

Priceless! My Mom used to tell the story about my sister. She had the "where do babies come from" lecture with my sis and my sis seemed to take it well. No big deal. A few days later my parents were in the bedroom getting ready to go out to dinner. No, actually it is you that has this wrong. Most atheists I know have read the bible cover to cover (this is a great cause of atheism for many). An unbeliever (atheist) lacks belief in your god. Do you know what a straw man is? Ohhh, I'll bet you don't. You are a tech, right? Look up a straw man discussion, then look in a mirror and you'll see who has the need to use one. You don't know much about banding at all. You know a couple of studies and you chant them like a mantra disregarding everything else everyone has tried to explain to you. You are so focused on such a small amount of information that you can't see the forest for the trees. You have tried desperately to show you have a clue. You have made two different claims about your date of banding, you have made claims about your profession, you have claimed everything under the sun to get people to believe you are the band guru. Truth is, you don't have a clue. You parrot what you hear actual medical professionals say and you attempt to pass yourself off as a medical professional to boost your credibility. When confronted with this fact you throw a regular old temper tantrum. Now tell us, do you have ANYTHING to add to this discussion other than what you have repeated over and over again? A few studies repeated time and time again do not show you have much band knowledge. Truth is, all you do is insult, annoy, and irritate those you claim to be helping. If you were actually helping people would they dislike you so much? You need to learn balance and integrity. Until you do you will have no respect from your peers. Your job is not that of a professional and with each post you write, you prove that fact over and over again but you don't seem to get it. We are on to you. We caught on to you in the very beginning you just don't get it. BTW... you have only lost your EWL? I have lost 100% of my TOTAL excess weight. You can't even remember when you got your own band let alone the details of banding. You claim all this education yet your writing does not reflect the same. You claim licensing that you don't have, you have annoyed and irritated everyone posting, people have essentially told you to buggar off when you insult them, their intelligence, and their bands... and you expect to be taken seriously? Heh... that's amusing.

I don't think she intentionally gains weight, I think she battles the same demons as the rest of us. She just won't acknowledge why she has these issues so she can finally resolve them.

I'll bet you $1000 that you don't keep your original band over 10 years. Deal? If I am right, and I'm betting I am... I hate to say I told you so.

For goodness sakes, upon doing a quick search of your old posts it is quite obvious you don't even know when you got your own band yet you are supposedly a band expert? You are quite full of yourself. I think the MOD who asked the question on your profile has you pegged. She knows exactly who you are. I would hope she contacts the surgeon in question and takes care of this little problem once and for all.

I sincerely thank you for story. If I may ask for others doing their research, why did you choose Dr. Huacuz? And why did it take 9 hours to do your surgeries?
