I was kinda glad they were there, ne'ked guy was still around. ;o) You know, we really can't be pleased. If people ignore us... we feel ignored. If they diss us, we become angry. If they encourage us we are just sure they are insulting us. If we lose weight and someone doesn't notice we are insulted. If they do noticed we don't want them to discuss it. We really can't be pleased.

There is nothing legit about a patient that clearly writes they have been on antibiotics since surgery. Over 2 months. You can explain and justify that away all you want, it doesn't change. Give it up, you guys make Betancourt look bad each time to try to explain this away and justify it. I don't think you realize something, nobody cares where you go. It's your choice, you are an adult I assume, go where you want. You behave as though someone is trying to force you into something. Grow the heck up and get over it. Stop the whining, it's getting old. YOU are the one dragging this out, not the mods. You are the one that is doing the feetie stomping, you are the one that won't let it go. You can get preggers every bit as much with the sleeve as the band. It's bypass that it is tricky being pregnant with all the Vitamin issues. If you post this on the sleeve boards several of us will respond and explain.

You know, I see people so thrilled that they have a date and I just feel sad, I have a hunch I know how most of them will end up. It makes me sad because I see people that are scraping every dime, taking out loans, refinancing their homes, borrowing from family to get a band surgery and for what? So they can save up money again to have it removed? I didn't fail my band either. I believe I did not lose weight because of the band, I lost it in spite of the band. That's true and it's not. The band taught me I can indeed live without food. I was on liquids for 4 months before I revised. I don't mean that in a sarcastic way, I mean it literally. I was obsessed with food before WLS. Today I've come a very long way in that area. I didn't realize you are a vet. Very cool! I thought you were a veteran vampire! HAHA You'll find a LOT of animal lovers around here. Again, I am thrilled you are here.

When I was in the losing mode I was running. I was bored running on my treadmill so I started running outside. But... I did it at night when nobody could see me. ;o) Well, one night I met ne'ked guy peering in the windows of an apartment complex. Notice I write peering IN the window, he was on the outside. I had my cell so I called 911. By the time they got there ne'ked guy was gone but they sat in their car and watched while I finished running through the park since it was 1AM. When I was done they both gave me a thumbs up, flashed their lights, and waited for me to get in the house. No doubt it was "YEA FAT GIRL!" but I believe the intent was sincere. Policemen are usually very much into fitness and exercise and they probably knew this was hard, very hard. I took it in the spirit intended.

I wouldn't dream of going to a surgeon with less than 250 bands. I'd find another surgeon on that fact alone. Find someone that does all the procedures, bands, sleeve, and bypass. That way you have someone who isn't pushing their pet surgery on you. They can sit down with you and go over your eating habits and behaviors and see which procedure is best for you. If they only do bands or bypass then they are not going to offer you ALL your options. As for not being able to find your port he can if he uses fluoro. Lots of people have a big belly, people are usually an apple shape (stomach) or pear shaped (small waist with large hips/legs).

No way of telling. The more you vomit the better your chances for a slip. This is why banding is not a great idea for someone who has even needed chemo, if the disease were to return it could be a problem. Once you slip you are at great chance for slipping again. If you have your band surgically repositioned they are now finding that about 70% of the time you'll slip yet again according to Dr. Husted, a revision surgeon. What about a sleeve? I am SEVERELY Vit D deficient. My labs are 1/5 of what they should be. My joints hurt, my teeth are so soft I can push my fingernail in the enamel. (it takes Vit D to absorb calcium) You can do this test at home. You buy a kit, bleed on special paper, let it air dry, mail it in, and get the results. The usual dose for Vit D is 2,000IU to 5,000IU daily. I am on 50,000IU daily for one month and then retest. Here is a link: ZRT - ZRT Products There are two ways to test for Vit D. Most docs order the wrong test and give an Rx for the wrong drug. It takes forever to get Vit D levels up with the drug they prescribe. You know, I never thought about that. I did go through that. When I was sleeved I was at goal and I was eating high calorie everything to maintain. I was gagging on the sweet things and just couldn't stand them anymore. I was so glad when I could start eating other carbs. Things have changed... I went through a stage where I was craving sweets DAILY. I ended up having a severe Vit D deficiency (unrelated to WLS) and I started taking 50,000IU of Vit D daily. After about 3 weeks on it my sugar craving is almost gone. I didn't realize until about a week ago that a sweets craving is one symptom of Vit D deficiency. Makes sense since my sweet tooth is going away.

I don't know, I know for a revision it's $12,500 with my doc but that is having to remove the band as well. I'm assuming $9,500? Why didn't they just do your sleeve while you were already under? Why make you go through another procedure if you don't mind my asking? May I ask why you had a partial gastrectomy? Erosion? Something where damage was done to your stomach?

The only problem with any type of cancer and the band is that if the person needs chemo in the future the nausea and vomiting is a serious concern. If you vomit you can slip, chemo can potentially cause a great deal of vomiting.

According to your logic someone could get to goal, have their band removed, and not regain. Stats say you are wrong. The obsession and compulsion never go away, we learn to deal with it WHILE we are using a WLS tool. And speaking of holier than thou attitudes, have you checked yours lately?

There is a cycle here, an inflammation cycle. You are swollen from barfing and the unfill. You really really need to stay on liquids for a couple of days until the swelling goes down and then you'll be able to eat. Barfing causes swelling, swelling causes barfing, it just gets worse. Liquids today. ;o)
