  1. It's much more about technique than bougie size. Remember, the TJ surgeon that uses a 32F and her patients can (and did) eat an entire chicken breast three weeks post op. I am a year post op and I can't eat that much.

I'm not defending Pleatman by a long shot in the whole scheme of things but you have to understand you are seeing about an ounce or less of blood. You are also seeing only what people want you to see in all the videos. Pleatman has no control over where a bleeder might show up. You can get a bleeder by doing a suture. That bleeding is not out of line by any means. It's very typical and normal. I can appreciate that you have watched 10 videos but in this case you really are incorrect about the bleeding, I've seen probably 1000 various types of surgery and there isn't anything wrong with that video. I just don't like his leak stats or leak tests.

    Wrinkles

I realized that when I was fat I got old and just couldn't tell. ;o) It's not as bad as it could be. I will say that when I first got to goal it was spooky, but it snaps back a bit over time.

I don't like the idea of doing a leak test on the part of the stomach that isn't even IN the patient. He leak tests the part that is removed. With the number of leaks he has had it seems to me he should be doing a leak test on the stomach in the patient. I am quite sure his finger was gloved, not a doubt in my mind. Bleeding was minimal.
  5. Do you eat fast food often? I'll bet you cut back on how much fast food you let your kids have after watching this. It is a documentary, please watch it. Watch Super Size Me Online | Streaming Full Length Movie | Fancast Here is the same documentary on Hulu.com: http://www.hulu.com/watch/63283/super-size-me It's worth the time to view it.

    This is my story

That's fantastic! Congrats to you! Feels good, eh?
  7. I agree completely. I remember an Ortiz patient that was really angry with Ortiz and it was totally not fair. Ortiz did everything right, it was the guy that had the problem. He flat out wrote to me that he was furious, he spent all that money so the surgery should do it for him. Weird guy. I am with you, I made the most out of my surgery and I will continue to make the most out of it to maintain.
  8. First of all I never mentioned names. Secondly, I got them from the doctor.

Both, the gas from surgery is absorbed into the GI system.

    Diet after Sleeve Surgery?

Each doctor does things differently. My doc has us on 10 days of Clear liquids, 10 days of full liquids, and 10 days of soft foods. After that solids as tolerated.

    Since you asked...

I very much agree! I don't like the PM format either. I like it on LBT better.

    Super Size Me/Documentary

Mac and I usually agree on most topics in the end. It's the little details getting to the final issue we disagree on. But I like Mac because it never becomes heated. We can agree to disagree and in the end we agree. Hard to explain! HA

    Being informed

You bring up a good point. I think many banded folks think banding is a quick fix. They just don't realize it is anything but a fix. It's temporary so it's a good thing bands are reversible. I would shoot myself if I was forced to live like that for the rest of my life. Eventually scar tissue grows under the band and the person ends up with far more restriction than they want even with an unfilled band. There was a doc on the band boards a couple of months ago that wrote of a conversation he had with a sister company of Inamed. Even they are predicting the band will be obsolete in the near future.

I have to tell you Mac, you know I adore you and respect the heck out of you. I think you are beyond trippy. I also think you are in denial. ;o) I was too for a very long time.

    Alex

Alex... I think I speak for us all when I tell you that we want to see a real photo of you! That photo in your Av is tiny, we can't see exactly what you look like. We would like photos, please. ;o)
  16. VAngel, thank you. A sincere, from the bottom of my heart thank you.
  17. Thank you thank you thank you. OP... sorry for taking over your thread but I gotta tell you, this feels damn good. I'm officially an old timer! Your thread tells me so. AND! In a good way! Thanks.
  18. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You should NOT call me OLD wise one. Just wise one, that is good. ;o) Okay, I am 47.. but that doesn't mean I am sensitive about my old freak'en age! I'm just WISE. See how that works? ;o))))) I am verrrry wise, a young wise. Very young wise. See?
  19. Rosebud... Thank you sooo much. I love love love your post. ;o) You know what? It's true, sleeves rock. Bands suck. Thank you for your post. Life is good with a sleeve, you get it back!

Collagen is not always listed... some secret ingredient is listed. Truth is, it is boiled horse and cow skin.

    Alex

I had a cyberstalker when I told the truth about a MX surgeon. His paid posters tried to chase me away. It did not work. Cyberstalking PMs available upon request. OD knows my history with cyberstalkers, she learned from me. NEVER reveal personal info.
  22. Thank you! Seriously, you have no idea how much I appreciate this. I owe a great deal to Dr. Aceves. I was sick, miserable, and had NOOOOOOOOOOOO energy with the band. Dr. Aceves would email me and tell me that I needed a sleeve and he was looking at his schedule and I wasn't on it. ;o) I got my sleeve and got my life back. I love my sleeve, it gave me my life back. Who could ask for more? I am officially one year post op. I have NO problem maintaining my weight. I feel good, people tell me I look good but due to body dysmorphia... I don't see that yet. I can go shopping, I have the energy to walk long distances. Life is freak'en good! I am one year post op and I LOVE LOVE LOVE life for the first time in a very long time. Sleeves rock! Get a sleeve, get your life back!]

I think I speak for OD when I say that some of us are neurotic about our privacy. I've already had two cyberstalkers. :biggrin0:( Privacy is key. Sad yet true.

    Nexium

Supposedly there is a 90 day supply limit on non narcotics. But if you take 8 a day you can get 12 bottles. ;o) They've never said anything to me about it and I bring it back all the time. Last time I was there I picked up some for me and my friends. I bought about 10 bottles. Nobody said a word. They really care about narcotics, illegal drugs, Cuban cigars, and food products. Buy as much as you want.
