How often do you exercise?
WASaBubbleButt replied to Maurdan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Treadmills are great. Just get one with various programs and incline. Otherwise I don't think they are worth it. Make sure it is a good treadmill, you have to take your weight into consideration. Many are fro 250lbs or less. If you happen to weigh more than that you'll need one designed for heavier people or you'll burn out the motor. If I power walk I read a book or mag. If I run I just breathe really hard. -
How often do you exercise?
WASaBubbleButt replied to Maurdan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Daily. Today 1 hour, 45 minutes on the treadmill. -
There is no way to tell if 0.3 is good or not. If you are close to your sweet spot then 0.3 might even be too much. A lot also depends on when your fill was. If it was more than 2 weeks ago you are right, it's not enough. If it hasn't been two weeks your fill may not have kicked in yet. If your doc is that conservative with fills I'd be finding a new doc.

What is there to know? A specific diet?
-
I have found the same thing to be true. I average 600 a day, but if I mix it up and do 400 one day and 800 the next, it seems to make a difference when I'm stuck. Also, low carbing is VERY constipating. Keep that in mind. One pound is 3500 calories, unless you've eating 7000 calories it is NOT fat, it could be poop, edema, additional muscle, etc. But not fat.
-
I've lost 60lbs in 4 months. Yep, the complications have been worth it. I'm somewhat concerned of what will happen if I have it removed, I have mixed feelings about it.
-
Nope, haven't had it removed. I am going to try a couple of drugs that stop stomach spasms and see if that works. I really want to try and keep it if I can.

Just click on his name and it will take you to a link where you can send a personal message. Then you don't have to post it for the world to see. -
Man, I used to spend mega bucks on stuff I knew wouldn't work but wanted to try anyway! LOL

What exactly are you eating when you PB? -
I never claimed I know everything. You support your way and I'll support my way. Just as 20 years in nursing doesn't make me know everything, a couple of years in nursing school does not make you know everything either. We each offer things in our own way.

How do you know a goal weight?
WASaBubbleButt replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been communicating via email with a plastic surgeon I am coming to adore. Nobody has been as honest with me as he has. He has given me links to verify credentials of Mexican docs, he's told me minimums a Mexican doc should have before doing plastic surgery, he has told me scarring and outcomes of people in their 30s vs. their 40s. He has been a wealth of information. He's had weight issues of his own in the past, he's realistic, he's honest, I really like his attitude, I'm just so very impressed thus far. Obviously I want to see some examples of his work, do my research, etc., but as far as personality he's fantastic! I'm going to ask his permission to post bits and pieces of his emails to me. I think anyone considering plastic surgery anywhere would be interested. Just things to consider before having surgery, potential outcomes, issues regarding healing such as smoking, drinking, age, overall health. He also told me that we banded folks do a little better with plastic surgery vs. bypass because of types of anemia and nutrition issues they have (there's a big surprise! LOL). My impression of what he said is that we tend to be healthier. After communicating with him my mood is a lot better. He said I can have a boob job now but since I still have 40lbs to go I would need an adjustment down the road after I reach goal so I need to consider that. He feels it would be better to wait for surgery. I don't know how long he makes people wait for a tummy tuck. I *think* he said two months. We've discussed speed of weight loss and how that affects skin, he's answered every single question I have. I think I want to go and see him for a boob job eval and help with a goal weight. My friends think I'm crazy for wanting to lose more than 40lbs but they are supportive. I want blunt and honesty. -
Inamed claims there is no such study done, likely true! They have yet to study the obvious. Talk to ANY patient and they claim they get very tight after a flight.

Amazing... we think we are sooooo smart. Then we eat. -
I didn't spend $8K to eat fast food. Cut out all white carbs and if you can have something from fast food, go for it IN moderation!!!
-
Wow! Thank you! I do know how to make ribs. Sounds gross but it REALLY works for we .. cooking challenged. Boil 'em. Boil the heck out of them and then when they are done put them on a cookie sheet kinda thing and smother in BBQ sauce. Bake till the BBQ bubbles and they are fantastic! I don't cook often but when I cook for friends I make this because it works. My friends who actually know how to cook look at me like I'm doing something wrong. They taste it and ask for details so they can do it too. My dogs won't eat just anything. Sometimes I have to go to KFC, Chinese, Jacks, etc. before I figure out what one of them actually wants that day. And no, they are not spoiled. Just loved a lot.

How do you know a goal weight?

I hadn't thought of that. You are right, today I was wearing shorts and I saw the flab on my legs and was horrified. I was feeling pretty good about my weight loss, my butt really is gone. But my legs... holy crap they are fat! They are better when I stand. I really hadn't thought of that, thanks. -
Eggs are evil.

I didn't have any motivation to work out before surgery. After surgery I started to see the scale move and it moved FAST! THEN I got motivated and I still am. At least an hour daily on my treadmill. Treadmills, walking, running... GREAT for weight loss. Weight training makes for bigger muscles.

What did you eat yesterday? Can you give us an idea of your typical diet?

I am a very intelligent person as well and I can't spell worth a darn so I'll give you that one. But, you have to admit. With the attitude you have shown on this thread, considering that you came here to tell us how wrong we are because we don't post like your other heavily monitored board, and the other insults and slams you have been throwing around when you tell us how horrible we all are... you did kinda put yourself under a microscope. People tend to give others a dose of their own medicine sometimes. That medicine might not taste great but sometimes it is a necessary evil so we are forced to look at our own behaviors. You are not the only person having to take a little medicine, we all do in life at one time or another.
