Addicting, aren't they? I actually get frustrated when I run out! LOL I SWEAR I am starving until the next order comes in. Use them w/tuna, make itty bitty pizzas out of them, use them for everything. They are fantastic. I should'a bought stock in the company before posting about them. LOL

    PreOp diet... I'm not hungry?!?!

It looks like you are keeping your Protein up. Protein kills hunger and sugar makes you want to eat your right arm. Congrats to you!

    Why Lapband??

Even if bypass was safe, and I don't believe it is (personal opinion) within about five years the intestinal tissue removed to stop you from absorbing food (read Vitamins, Calcium, etc.) begins to regrow to compensate for what was removed. So, you start gaining weight again and you are back to diet and exercise alone. Freaky thing is... even though intestinal tissue begins to regrow it will only absorb calories, not vitamins and minerals. That NEVER comes back. So you get 5 years of easy free dieting and a lifetime of not absorbing what your body requires to continue functioning. The value here is?? What? Look at who is typically getting revision surgery. The majority are NOT band to bypass, they are bypass to band.

    I've gained 15 pounds

Not necessarily. If you really research therapy and counseling you will find that stats show verrrry little difference in the outcome of a person with therapy vs. without.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

But isn't that what you did? I know you didn't intend to do so, but you did. When you are using examples to show how much your folks do vs. other folks, isn't it reasonable to expect that you would defend your claims with something other than generalities, "I heard once..." or "Once I read something in a non neutral book...." That just isn't fair. It would be like my saying that once I heard that atheists have a great deal more morality than Christians. So, it must be true, right? I honestly don't care what religion someone is. I just don't want them to involve me in it. Or society as a whole. As for the Colorado City, AZ folks not being part of your religion, I'd have to differ with you. EVERY religion has those they would prefer not to claim as their own but you know what? Just like everyone else you have to suck it up and accept the fact that others are a part of your religion, they merely interpret the rules different from you. There isn't a Christian out there that doesn't sin. So if they sin, does that mean they are no longer a part of that religion? If that was the case, we wouldn't HAVE religion.

I have a hunch she doesn't understand how an atheist thinks. You know how engineers think different from most? Don't you think the same applies to atheists in many ways?

So IOW, you are unable to defend any of your claims. Kewl Beans.

BTW... remember, when eating the key is not to eat until you feel like a stuff t-day turkey. When you are no longer HUNGRY, stop eating. Period.

The main indication that I am aware of is a feeling of little/no restriction even though you should have some restriction. Of course, a slip can cause that feeling too. Do you get fills under fluoro? If not, your next fill might be best done w/xray.

Sunta... HA! I wasn't going to touch that one, I knew you'd feel a spark over that!

    What Do You Call This?

Nope, not necessarily. Many times people just believe they lost restriction. They eat and eat and eat and the next time they get fluoro they have an engorged looking pouch and esophagus.

Lower divorce rate vs. which religions/people? Your divorce rate is higher than that of Catholics, Lutherans, agnostics, atheists, all seniors, and all those in the NE US. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm As for the rest, please provide your objective and neutral sources for your information.

Some people don't see the harm in religion in schools. Others who have experienced horrors or have loved one that experiences horrors in school. We know how far it can and does go. I fully admit that I resent the hell out of organized religion. That does not mean I do not respect the rights of people to believe anything they choose. But organized religion... it's control of the masses and that is never healthy for society. I don't think a day has gone by since my Dad died that I haven't seen the look on his face as he died. He was trying to hard to live so he wouldn't fry in hell. And there wasn't a thing I could do for him. Nothing. He isn't the only person I have watched die that way. People die that way every single day, scared to death of dying due to a fear of the hell they know they will be heading. It's just sickening and I sometimes I want to scream at these people and tell them to wake the hell up! Open your eyes! Get a little reality check! If people are too afraid not to believe, fine. That is theirs to deal with in this world. But don't even suggest bringing that stuff into public schools. I don't fight the concept of "god" in the pledge, "god" on our money, etc. But force that crap on innocent children in a public school and watch me come out fighting. We all have to learn to pick and choose our battles and this is one of mine. There is a bigger picture here. Control over innocents is wrong, period. I am sorry your Mom had to go through that. Being young and in school is hard enough without the adults doing those things. What was wrong with those people??? I don't think I'll ever be able to wrap my brain around the concept.

But Kari... It was religion in school. That is my whole point. People that want religion in school make many of us look at them with a raised eyebrow. It's all about control. Isn't "control" what rape is about? I think the issue here isn't regarding the superficial view of comparing religion in school/rape of a child. It is valid to see why the person feels as they do. I don't consider the two as being the same thing. But I do, in some ways, consider them equally bad merely in their own way. I don't like the concept of that kind of control over anyone, for any reason. If one is wrong, they are all wrong. The pedophile wants control over a child for a short period of time. Religion wants control over a child for life. The Christians aren't going to see the point. They think prayer is good, rape is bad. *I* think that kind of control over another, and especially a child, is bad bad bad. It's a horror and should never be permitted.

    Vitamins?? What do you take??

Vitamins are not typically well absorbed. Each drug company has their own technique for selling their crap, the reality is the most Vitamin supplements aren't well absorbed regardless of their claims. Two children's vitamins is better. Better even... one twice daily.

Well, I tried. I am about as anti-organized religion as one can get. I was just trying to find a positive. BTW, we NEED a grammar check. Or, *I* need a grammar check! LOL

We also have to remember that we don't know what the personal experiences are of another. We don't know what Marjon has experienced regarding religion and he may well be justified in his thinking. We don't know. My Dad went to Catholic school in the 40s. He was beaten on a regular basis by the sweet nuns. When he was in grade school if he didn't memorize a bible bit exactly right he was beaten with sticks, paddles, rods, twigs, and other assorted items. This happened day after day after day. The worse the beatings became the worse his ability to memorize. He was so fearful of doing something wrong he couldn't focus on memorizing the silly crap for fear of more beatings. Can you imagine being 8 years old and getting a word wrong in something you had to memorize and having to drop your pants, bend over to grab your ankles in front of the class, while the nun spanked you with a paddle until your butt bled? He used to come home with bloody and bruised hands. If he got an answer wrong he had to hold his hands flat on his desk while the nice nun beat the hell out of his little hands with a ruler. He had scars from those beatings as an old man. My Dad happened to be an alcoholic. When he was 60 he had an AA meeting he had to go to as he was taking a newbie that was court ordered to go to that particular meeting. He had to go. The meeting happened to be at the very school he was beaten and humiliated by the nuns. At *60* he drove up the drive to the school and started getting physically ill. His entire body was shaking. The memories started flooding in. Days before my Dad died 2 years ago he was sitting in his chair and I walked in the room. He was quite upset. I asked what was going on, he explained that he was just praying to his angel, an angel he named Pete. My Dad didn't feel worthy enough to pray to God so he would pray to Pete and ask Pete to pray on his behalf. He was praying and asking permission not to go to hell but heaven instead. The nuns convinced him he wasn't worthy of anything more than hell. He STILL believed this at 70 years old! Later, as he was actively dying he turned to me, looked at me in sheer horror, his eyes glazed over and he died. That moment still haunts me to this day. It makes me angry that a bunch of pissy, sex starved, bitchy, good for nothing, evil, scum sucking, power hungry women who called themselves nuns did this to him in the name of gawd. He feared dying because he was so afraid of hell. The issue here isn't just a bunch of kids reciting bible bits in school. It goes much much deeper than that for many of us. Sorry, call me anything you wish. I'm with Marjon on this one. Go ahead, call me flippant or anything else that trips your trigger. You are looking at the superficial issue. Others are looking at the issue a little deeper. Oh, it may not be PC to be honest, but screw PC. Let's get honest and let's really get to the deeper issues if we are going to call this a debate section. It is easy to judge another for their views. The key here is to dig a little deeper and understand WHY someone feels as they do.

    What Do You Call This?

Lap... You have to be extra careful with your pouch right now. Barfing/PBing, whatever you want to call it is especially dangerous right now. Honestly, you are on soft foods for a reason. According to your doc's website you should be on soft foods during healing. It will take a good 6-8 weeks just for the beginning phases of healing. You will continue growing adhesions for years to come. Right now, this time frame is critical. Your doc doesn't say on his website to eat until something is a mush, he writes to stick to soft foods and gradually work up to solids after healing. I know, it IS hard. But it is soooo important. Don't push the limits, it's just not worth it. Not only was yesterday painful and horrible, you could potentially have done damage to your band. Don't worry about weight loss at this point in time. This time frame isn't designed for weight loss, it is designed for healing. So if you have to bump up the mashed potatoes to prevent hunger making you want solids, do it. Better to gain a few pounds now vs. losing your band tomorrow. When you want a piece of turkey today and you can't have it, don't think of it as that you can't have it. Think of it as though you can have it, just not today. Remember, liquids today for your own sake.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

I wonder something. Look at the horrific spelling of many posters. Loose, lose... 4-5 letter words and I am shocked at how many people can't spell a 4-5 letter word. Yet I don't recall seeing LDS members that can't spell simple words. Does this have to do with family environments? Actually raising their children vs. permitting schools and society to raise their children? I have absolutely no respect for religion. I think it causes huge emotional problems for a great number of people to teach them there is no difference in myth/fact. When people are raised to fear not believing, that just isn't healthy no matter how you look at it. The manipulation and mind games that go with religion are without excuse and nothing but a method of control. But, I agree with you regarding the "family" concept. More should live this way and then perhaps children would learn to spell small words.
