    mushie question

Sure. If you need the additional protein or if it is because you are hungry. Better a shake than a bag of candy. :Banane43:

    I apologize

No it isn't. Free speech has to do with dealing with the gov't. When on a privately owned message board or piece of property, you do not have any rights to free speech. It would be like my coming over to your house and using your house for my free speech that everyone must eat 10lbs of sugar and carbs daily. Do I have that right?

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

It is your opinion to hide truth from people. It is not the mainstream opinion. Amazingly, most value the opinions and ideas of another. It may not be YOUR take on issues but hiding it from people isn't going to make it go away and it isn't going to take away from the fact that you might just be wrong and it is a teaching for others. It is their interpretation. I said from the beginning that some people won't be able to look at issues objectively and that is the church teaching. They don't WANT you to look outside the box because when that happens, people leave the faith. Not just Mormon, but all faiths. There is a reason Christianity is dropping by about 1% annually and going to Wicca and atheism. This has been going on since the 80s. It isn't anything new. When we encourage people to look, think, listen, and not run to a church official each time they are asked their personal opinion on something, they DO think. You are suggesting in your overall tone and theme that people shouldn't explore and think. Are there other issues you believe people should not be exposed to due to a fear they might question and deny?

Doesn't drinking push food thru band?

Those are perfect. The oatmeal is very satisfying and I don't even like oatmeal. Same with V8 juice. One 5.5oz serving of V8 juice is a full veggie serving. Do you know that some docs are soooo anal about adhesions forming (like my doc) that HIS diet is two full weeks of clear liquids? broth (not soup but broth), S/F Jello, Gatorade, clear Protein drinks... no milk, no yogurt, no veggie drinks, no puddings, just the above? Then the next two weeks is full liquids. If it will go through a straw we could have it. Then 2 weeks of soft foods, then gradually reintroduce solids. Dude, you have it easy. Don't abuse the diet. You'll pay dearly in the end. If your band slips you are looking at an even more strict diet and that is assuming you even get to keep your band. Remember, just because food does not cause physical pain does NOT mean you are not doing damage. You can do this, it's for a short time.

What is your new diet plan for today? Remember, Protein will kill hunger, sugar will want to make you eat your right arm. What is your plan to keep protein up and sugar wayyyy down? Your biggest challenge will be head hunger. Each time you race for the kitchen stop yourself dead in your tracks and ask yourself if your stomach is painful and hungry or if you are just used to eating and it's head hunger.

    BID...Anyone?

K... Welcome to the world of deflated boobs! I was all set to go to my appt for a boob job consultation last Thursday and realized that I need to do a little more research first. I didn't know that implants have to be replaced every 10 years or so due to hard, lumpy, painful boobs. The scarring gets so bad it is supposedly fugly and painful. So I need to research and verify all this before I make the leap but a TT is certainly in order.

You are making a big mistake here. The sutures are not what is holding your band in place long term. The sutures hold the band in place until your body makes adhesions (scarring). It is the adhesions that form that will hold your band in place. These adhesions will continue to form for years to come. The first 6-8 weeks the adhesions are at their most fragile state. When you eat food your stomach has to churn and move, almost like a spasm to break down food so it can pass through your GI system. When you drink Clear liquids it doesn't have to work much at all, so it doesn't have to move much at all. Thus, the adhesions have an opportunity to form. When you advance to full liquids your stomach only has to work a very small amount. When you are eating the foods you are, your stomach has to work extra hard, pump out enzymes and hormones to break down food and you simply aren't going to heal. But you are likely to have a slipped band. The food you are eating will also tear away the sutures. So chewing food up to a mush is kind of silly when you look at the whole picture. You seem to be under the impression that the goal is to not fill your pouch but let it slide through. That isn't the goal, the goal is to not make your stomach work. Now, I'm going to be blunt here. Your doc gave you a diet for a reason. Amazingly, he got a medical degree after a bit of education and he has a reason to put you on the diet he did. We are talking THREE DAYS!!!!! You haven't followed the diet and you are only three days into this? Com'on.... Do you suppose there is a REASON he put you on a post-op diet? You need to get back to the diet as prescribed. Well, if you want to keep your band that is. Remember, the VAST majority of slips are not the doc's fault, they are the patient's fault. This one will be on you.

You are eating solids this soon? Who is your doc?
  9. BTW... You don't have an option in the poll for 'never'.
  10. Angela... You aren't telling the whole truth about this trip of yours. You aren't making the claims here that you have elsewhere. You aren't giving the prices for your "time" and "seminars" nor are you telling others of how you plan to heal their MS, heart problems, obesity, etc. Why change the technique now?

I can feel cold water drain, that was weird the first time it happened.

You keep writing this yet nobody is claiming that it is church doctrine. It's been made clear from the beginning this is a research study, a study that I suspect most involved will refuse to read and if they do, pretend they never read it. Facts.. those darned pesky facts.

    Be Honest....

I'm still shocked that people actually have their own fill parties. Instead of a tupperware party, people have fill parties. Spooky. There is as much chance that an untrained person is going to go near my band as there is that I would run bare butt naked around my house.

Doesn't drinking push food thru band?

Protein doesn't mess with blood sugar the way sugar does. So you don't get the blood sugar spikes as you would with a chocolate bar. When you eat sugar your blood sugar increases, in response your body produces insulin. Insulin kicks in and lowers your blood sugar levels and then that signals your body that you are hungry and it's time to eat. We fatties do this allllllll day long. With the band you feel full longer, if you eat protein first and cut out/down sugar it doesn't mess with blood sugar levels so your body isn't screaming at you that you are hungry. One of the biggest challenges most bandsters seem to have (especially ME!) is learning to tell the difference between head hunger and true hunger. When is your body actually hungry and when do you just simply want to eat. For me the key has NOT been to say, "I can't have "X" food to eat." Instead I have to remind myself that I can have it, just not this minute. Maybe I'll have it tomorrow, or next time I am actually hungry. That makes a big difference for me. Think about it, if you are dieting the whole idea is that you can't have it at all. With the band you can have it next time you are due for a meal, or next time you are actually hungry. It's a world of difference than saying you can't have it at all.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

I've had Christians tell me that since I am atheist, someday they will be in heaven looking down at me in hell laughing at me. Considering it is easy to prove Christianity is a myth borrowed and stolen from much older myths, it will be interesting to see who is looking at the other with a raised eyebrow someday.

    Vegetarian Protein

One thing is you are going to have to check out protein supplements well. For example, the test tube type (New Whey, for one) is made of jello (cow gristle). Might want to go to Unjury.com and ask what their clear protein is made of. Otherwise, it will be similar proteins to what you consume now. A variety of veggies/beans to get the full amino acid chain, etc.

You are comparing a full open procedure where they haul out a child vs. a laparoscopy procedure, difference is night and day.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

I can't really say I am surprised by the answer, it's about what I expected considering the source. However, it does make me wonder. What if it is the xtians worshiping the wrong God and not finding the correct God. They could all be condemned to an eternity in a hell belonging to one of the other many religions out there. What's good for the goose and all that stuff. I mean let's face it, faith is nothing more than hoping for the best. Not a lot of facts in there to work with. More of... what they were born into. If they would have been born in India they'd likely have a very different set of beliefs.

    I've gained 15 pounds

I don't keep them. I read thousands of journal articles and I couldn't possible remember them all or keep them all. Some were in JAMA/Psychiatry, some I found on line, some were from nursing CEUs. My husband is a psychiatrist and this is his opinion. I disagreed with him and set out to prove him wrong. After researching, I couldn't prove him wrong.

    Cheaper than Bariatriceating.com

If you don't get it soon I would put a stop payment on the debit charge. Most banks will allow this with no problem as long as their is a VISA/MC logo on the card. The company I started this thread about is great, I like them a great deal. Don't ever buy samples of Syntrax products (Matrix 5.0) as you can get many of the various types of their products for free from the manufacturer.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

This is a perspective I have a great deal of respect for. People have faith, so be it. I find nothing in the world wrong with the concept. My only frustration is when people claim their beliefs are fact. That kinda gets under my skin. If they had facts they wouldn't need faith. But when someone words it as you do I personally have a great deal of respect for the author. No, you didn't show any disrespect. I'm the queen of one liner questions and my intent doesn't show through when I do that.
