Cheaper than Bariatriceating.com

Wow... got my order of veggie chips today and I really like them. I got them here: http://www.jdfinefoods.com/ They might need a bit of flavor for some of you, (dips, fake butter, Peanut Butter, etc.) but I really like them. It's a GREAT snack and I have to say, for as much as I got I am very satisfied with the price. I got 2 lbs of veggie chips (one container is for a friend of mine) and a four pack of dried fruit. The blueberries and apples are GREAT! Haven't tried the peaches or pineapple yet. I'm totally impressed. If you are looking to get veggies in and just plain don't like them or can only eat crunchy things, I suggest this stuff. Go to the above link, click on dried fruits. Go to page two and veggies chips are the very last item. -
Your surgery was 4/19. From everything I have read it peaks at between 3-4 months.

Leatha, I have to give you a world of credit in this thread. You are kind, sweet, and caring about this issue. You are one of the few that really seems to understand that some addictions are easier than others to overcome. You have been realistic and neutral. Very cool. Thank you.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on the merits of the pizzas.

I didn't get a band for my life or health, I got a band because I want to look good. I used to model lingerie and I want to be that size again. Nothing in the world to do with health, that's just a great extra that came along with it. Perhaps horrible, yet true. Fixing my food addiction wasn't hard in the least as far as a decision to be banded. Fixing my food addiction is a done deal, I CAN'T eat the things that got me fat and I'm okay with that. I discovered the band on 11/6/06, had surgery on 12/6/06, I plan to lose 102 lbs and have plastic surgery before 11/5/07. Everything from start to finish in a year. That's my goal. Now smoking, I have yet to overcome that. If they had a band for smoking that does not allow me to smoke regardless of how hard I try, then I could kick that too.

Wendell from another board refers to this as band farts.

I disagree. A cop killer shouldn't be afforded a darn thing. If people wanted to do something on behalf of the cop killer, they should have done something for the family that was left behind because of this dirtbag.

Ditto, Faith. Each time I write a post I get an error message. But I go back and look and it's been posted.

Who said I smoke around other people? I do smoke around other smokers but I have never in my life forced another person to breathe my smoke. As I have explained previously, I don't even smoke in my OWN car or home if a non smoker is over here. Hubby smokes so I'm not forcing anything on him either. I don't want fat people eating around me. It offends me. Doesn't sound very nice, does it? F'ING AGAIN!!!!!!!!! I never claimed the results of all addiction are equal. Oh hell.. I'm not explaining it again. This is silly. What I have written previously? Several times? Yeah, that again.

Lauran... I have never in my life forced others to inhale my smoke but you make it sound as though every smoker in the world has held you down in a closed room and forced you to inhale their smoke. You have to admit, a few of you really do take it over the top. Your better than thou, holier than though attitude is really annoying and it doesn't look any better on you than a cig does in my hand. I can kick the eating habit ONLY because a band will forever prevent me from eating MOST solid food. I was going to have it removed at one point but I know I'll gain weight back. So I plan to live on protein shakes and tuna for the bulk of my diet. My point is that I have a band that doesn't allow me one addiction. You are about to be banded. When you can lose weight without a band then we'll talk about how tired you are about hearing of the addictions of OTHERS. And you know what? I don't give a rats back side if my addiction is different from your addiction or HOW it is different. Makes no difference. You have an addiction that you can't kick without surgery just like the rest of us. The issue is addiction. So honestly, I really don't care how tired you are of hearing about addiction. Examine yourself before slamming others around you. It is pretty easy to insult and slam others, whine non stop and stomp those feeties but it really does boil down to the same thing. Addiction. You just aren't better than the rest of us.

Not quite. The mortality rate for a band place via lap procedure is less than 1%. The open procedure for bypass averages about 4%. Nobody is more anti-bypass than me but the stats thrown around really aren't fair to bypass folks.
-
Yep, that's pretty much what the article says.
-
HA!!!!!!! I do that! But it annoys the crap out of me when others do it. I have to set the scenario, I have to make sure everyone is getting the right visual otherwise it messes up the story!

Here is another opinion... kinda interesting: http://www.vsgfaq.com/hairloss.php

For what you describe the standard of care is Lovenox the AM of surgery. But if someone has extensive surgery they may give a Heparin drip titrated to a specific number of units per hour. Even that is being changed to Lovenox in many cases. That's why I was questioning the two weeks of Heparin routine others are having to endure. That's just a lot of anticoagulants for banding. I personally wouldn't do it. As expensive as a single dose of Lovenox is it is still cheaper than two weeks of Heparin. I completely support the Lovenox concept, but not 2 weeks of Heparin for your average banded person. Just kinda thinking outloud here, it *seems* that there is another kind of risk with two weeks of Heparin. What if the person is in an auto accident? A little bump on the head could mean a serious bleed. I can think of a hundred scenarios where this could have potential for concern. But them I am the one running into walls and such (walking!) and I am just not the most graceful person on this planet. My guess is that some idiot doctor didn't use Lovenox pre-op for some high risk patient and they threw a clot. So now everyone else has to mess with two weeks of Heparin to cover their doc's back side because of a stupid journal article.

You know what is spooky? I've been thinking about another surgical procedure in a few months. I have already lost at least 50% of my hair. Makes me wonder if another surgery would make the other 50% go away. :paranoid :paranoid :paranoid :paranoid

It would be interesting to see the number of lurkers. LOTS of people lurk, not everyone posts. That goes for all threads, the whole forum, and all forums.
-
We got it the first time you wrote this. And the 2nd.
-
Awww, com'on... I've seen you defending and it's just not as you say. And no, I won't be putting you on ignore. Not a chance.
-
But, if it is a "hot" topic that *is* what people are interested in.
-
You are kidding, right? Of the thousands of threads on this forum regarding bands and the few regarding off topic issues, you can honestly suggest the above? :straight

Ditto. This is a fantastic board and the range of topics and opnions is why I love it so much. If you want a format where nobody can discuss anything even a little controversial, I would encourage you to read through OH. They are sure to cover up, hide, and delete anything that isn't according to their standards. Here, OTOH, people are assumed to be thinking people, not people that need to be protected from the world. We fatties encounter much much worse just walking out the front door on a daily basis. This is simply mild.
-
Hmmm... I find this post interesting. You appear quite offended yet you are here daily participating in the very same thing you are complaining about. I'm not sure I understand your point.
-
Who are these "many" folks you refer to?
-
That really isn't true. Heparin doesn't have to hurt. It can itch, but technique is everything with Heparin.
