Exercise frequency
WASaBubbleButt replied to susannah's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know what you mean about things getting to you. Mine are: OMG! I can eat three teaspoons of food, I need a fill!!! Those people know they don't need a fill, they just like to read their own words on a computer screen. I only lost 10 pounds last week, I need a fill!! They know full well they don't need a fill and they merely want recognition for losing 10 lbs. I'm not saying recognition is a bad thing, it's the way they go about doing it. I had surgery yesterday and today I ate a steak and two chicken breasts on my clear liquid diet, is that okay? This one makes something in my head pop. I just want to smack those people. Not sure why this one gets to me so much, but it does. If they want to ruin their chance for success, so be it. It's their life and no skin off my nose but for whatever reason it really gets to me. I'm having severe chest pain and difficulty breathing, what should I do? How about quit posting on message boards and go to a hospital? The thought never crosses their minds. I don't chew well, I take big bites, and I eat way more than I should. Food gets stuck and I throw up, why is that? Should I get an unfill? I don't know, Sparky, I have no idea. That one is a stumper. I throw up 467 times a week, is this a problem? Oye veh.... I have to do a pre op diet starting today. It's 10AM and I am STARVING! I can't do this!! Yikes. Yep, I know what you mean. -
Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
WASaBubbleButt replied to violeteyes37's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I prefer to stay at home. I don't think I'd be as loyal to exercise at a gym but everyone is different. I have a treadmill and I just bought a bowflex so I'll start using that soon. -
Do you have any equipment at all? A home gym, treadmill, anything?

Matrix 5.0 chocolate flavor. 120 calories, 23gms Protein, 2gms carbs. Matrix and unjury are the two best quality Proteins from my research. I'm not talking flavor, but quality of protein.

My doc requires it for a BMI of 40 or more. I was 41 and the office staff told me to skip it, so I gladly did. If you are a higher BMI person you really should do it. It does make surgery easier.

I didn't read the other post that way, I read it as a test of sorts. The idea I got from the article was to do this ONCE and ONCE only for the mere purpose of feeling actual hunger, not something to be done on a regular basis.

What are you eating? Could you need a fill? Is it quantity that you are eating or more along the lines of liquid Chocolate? -
Have you had your thyroid tested? That happens a lot when people start forming nodules or a goiter. It's an annoying feeling and sometimes people feel like if they swallow something huge it will fix it. It won't, but it feels like it would. Sometimes people get a change in their voice and they sound like Mr. T eventually. It happens a lot with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. A thyroid ultrasound would diagnose it if that is the problem.

What is this weird spot near my port scar?
WASaBubbleButt replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If it is a port leak you'd only need a new port, not a new band. But some docs are using extra thick stuff (like Fix A Flat) to fix a leak. -
It IS good! Of course, the kids at Quizno's tell me it's gross (I asked them, they were being honest! HA) but it's not, it's really good. I love their Italian cheese blend. A layer of various lettuce types, a HUGE layer of Tuna salad, a layer of tomatoes, a layer of Italian cheese blend, and dressing. Yum. Lasts me two days easily and I eat it twice daily.

Nope, I am not hungry in the least after drinking a shake. What are you adding to it? Milk? Fruit? Anything? Just because your stomach is growling does not mean you are hungry, it could mean that you swallowed air and the air is making noises. I'm NO expert on exercise, I'll let the others answer those questions. -
JLB... Would you describe the pain? Is it like a sore throat when you have a cold? Is it a sharp pain like someone is stabbing you? Is it an ache like a headache type pain? If it was esophageal I would think the pain would be worse with a fill, not better. I'm really stumped on this one.

Hey Faithmd.. are you reading? Any thoughts?

What is this weird spot near my port scar?
WASaBubbleButt replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HA! I might have said the same thing in the beginning but I have since learned that when you lose weight everything inside appears to "condense" and it MOVES. Otherwise, that would be a heck of an idea! -
Have you had a fill yet? If so, was it done (or will it be done) under fluoro?

I could be wrong because I've only seen Omnipaque once and it was through a vial, but isn't that stuff a bit thicker than Water? If so, couldn't a leak be slower to show up? If she had to hit twice to get the port, do you know if she injected anything the first time? Do you know if she attempted to withdraw any Fluid to make sure she was in the port? Some do withdraw and some don't, some want to verify the fluid went IN the port and others don't want to cause additional trauma and swelling by opening/closing the band. I wish I had a better answer for you but all I can do is throw out thoughts. -
You don't have xray vision and we don't have psychic abilities. Sorry you don't like my response.

How do you know how well you tolerated chicken? Can you tell us what the adhesions on your stomach look like now?

Good exercise day!!!!! I went shopping yesterday and am trying my 6th pair of running shoes, I think these might do the trick unlike the others that are made to create blisters. I consumed 570 calories and burned 661 calories!! -

I read the link you supplied since I'm not super familiar with the product and it does have a form of iodine in it so I can see how it could stain your skin. But why would you have it there? Do you have a leak that you are aware of? Could your doc have missed the port? Did you see a leak on the fluoro? -
Jaqui... >>Help me out! Vote for my grandbaby, the one with the tongue sticking out http://maurytoday.com/pages/photoscontests Thanks!<!-- google_ad_section_end --><< I voted for the little one with a pointy tongue!!! Com'on everyone... You'll binge once or twice and then you won't want to do it again. It's hard to binge when you are so full you are throwing up.

I think I solved part of my problem, I bought a Bowflex today. I don't know anything about it, don't know how to put it together, don't know what to do with it when it is put together, but I have a Bowflex! HA! I'm not impulsive, I just make decisions quickly. -
Banded 3 days ago and still feeling uncomfortable
WASaBubbleButt replied to JangliBilli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It usually just takes a few days for the gas to leave your body but the EFFECTS of the gas can take longer. When you are in surgery one of the incisions is for a "thing" that maintains the gas in your belly at a constant pressure so the doc can see what he's doing. It pushes and pulls on things and if you can imagine things being kind of bruised and irritated, that is probably what you are feeling a few days out. Also, if you had a wide hiatus that would have been repaired as well as a hiatal hernia. If you had either of those it can cause extra shoulder pain. The shoulder pain is referred pain from a nerve down a little lower. The GasX won't likely work beyond a few days, then it is going to be Tylenol or whatever your doc gave you. It's better to prevent pain than it is to deal with it once it has hit full force. It's much easier for the pain meds to work if you don't wait until you are in tears. Take it before that point and the drugs seem to work better. -
Was anyone banded in December of '06?
WASaBubbleButt replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been known to sit down with a jar of salsa and a spoon. Tomatoes are soooo good!
