    Newbie here

They do. I wore a size 24 but I bought a 26 for PJs before banding. I was told to get a size bigger for that enjoyable "bloated" feeling after surgery. I don't know how high they go but I know they at least have 26s.

    Newbie here

I think the very best thing about losing weight was telling Lane Giant to kiss my back side (under my breath, of course) when I went there to buy PJs for banding at the hospital. That's the last time I bought anything there. I never did like that store.

    Irritated stoma/esophagus

That suggests to me that it might be a food problem or chewing type problem. What if you go on liquids just until you are better and then really start slow and easy. Chew at least 30 times per bite, take pea sized bites, eat slowly, really get back to the basics.

Need help with a realistic goal!

Why not set an exercise goal instead? You can have two tickers on your sig, one for weight loss and one for exercise. To set a weight goal during Bandster Hell might be setting you up for failure and that wouldn't be a great way to start your banding journey. You might lose or you might gain, you really don't know. This time frame isn't designed for weight loss but healing instead.

    just some questions

Most folks who get banded are quite busy. You'll have to make the time to chew. You'll pay if you don't. No drinking fluids after solids and yes, you can drink water while exercising. I do.

First fill during surgery - NO NO NO

The manufacturer is suggesting it is okay to put a small fill in the (I think) AP band but NO other band. Do you have a 10cc band? I see no reason to put anything in any band until after someone has healed. And I have to tell you, there is NO excuse for not doing a barium swallow after surgery. None. I hope you are feeling better. Take it very easy, stick to liquids until you heal. Rest and feel better!!

I'm Not As Think As You Drunk I Am

Oh, that was the other day. No extra calories for me for a few days. However, it's sure true. We do make cheap dates, eh?

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

I'll have you know that so far today I've eaten 2 slices of a zuchinni and a bottle of S/F Hawaiian Punch. It didn't hurt that "sister" issues have come up again today and I was so angry I was too tight to even drink Water for most of the day. So I'm catching up on water as I type.

What happens when you go on full liquids for a few days, do you feel better?

    How'd THIS happen...my fickle band?

It's nice to see someone else say the same thing about carbs. If I eat them I feel slow, I feel like a big fat slug on my couch for the rest of the day, I just don't have any energy. I really don't eat white carbs much at all anymore. Oh... then the next day I crave them. Even though I know I'll feel like crap I still crave them.

    Realized Im Failing FAST!!!

Wow... what a skank! Try this, just try cutting out ALL white carbs, potatoes, Pasta, rice, sugar, flour, all that stuff. Drink lots of Water throughout the day and those two things are what does it for me.

    family

Your family is in serious need of an education on morbid obesity issues. I would start looking at the following link daily and having them read the studies that are of interest to you. Obesity News & Weight Loss News & Fitness News from Medical News Today

Have you had an upper endoscopy lately? If not it sure sounds like it's time to take a look.

    Supplements, Calcium, minerals, et al

I take 1 Flinstones chewable 6x daily (when I remember, not often though), one chewable calcium chocolate thingy (when I remember, not often though), and B Complex when I'm tired and need a kick. What I *do* remember and LOVE is Radox. Three mega capsules x1 daily and wait for them to dissolve. (Ouch)

    special k protein water

The Special K Protein Water has verrrry low quantities of protein. You should be looking for something with 22-25gms protein per serving and no more than 170 calories. Boost and Ensure are the LAST things you want after surgery. Those are products used to help patients in hospitals and nursing homes gain weight. After banding you want to lose weight. If you are looking for a quickie grocery store type product you might look at Carb Control Slim Fast (I think that's the name) or Atkins. That will buy you some time to find a really good quality product. Try Welcome to the unjury Homepage or another one is Matrix 5.0 at Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore!. Some like Isopure from GNC but most don't care for it and compare the texture to pond scum. (gahh)

    nutritional values

YES! I have a great site that I use. You entire your entire recipe, calculate the number of actual portions, and it creates a food label for that recipe. It's quite involved and detailed and tells you more than you knew you wanted to know about your recipe. It will also offer alternatives to make it more "diet" friendly, "low fat" friendly, etc. It is: NutritionData.com NutritionData's Nutrition Facts Calorie Counter Good luck!

    Liquid diet and weight loss

The one thing that pops into my mind is breast feeding and a limited calorie diet? That is a bit concerning. Are you drinking a ton of water as well? There are lots of reasons things aren't showing up on the scale just yet. Keep in mind, none of us are patient people and I know for me I'll go days without losing anything then I'll lose a pound a day for three days. Weight loss isn't something you can bank on from day to day, just know it will happen. Honest!

    From a 28 to a 20 -- BEFORE SURGERY!!

That's FANTASTIC! That is something I was never able to do without the band so I'm always in awe of people that can get it off. Good job on getting banded, it's a little insurance those pounds don't find their way back to your hips.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

An overfill is absolutely miserable, eh? You don't really lose all that well with an overfill either. When you are just right you lose well. Congrats on the exercise too!!

    Is hair loss a given?

I hear a lot of people say they have hair loss during Atkins but that it does grow back. I quit losing weight for one month (plastic surgeon requirement) and it did start growing back yet it was also falling out. Now I have hairs all over my head about 1" long. It's tricky to do anything with it at this point.

    Is hair loss a given?

It's different for everyone. Most seem to say between months 4-8 but one baritric surgeon wrote an article recently and he said 2-11 months. Mine started at 4 months and JUST ended the day I cut my hair. It couldn't be coincidental, that would be too much of a coincidence. But I used to have really long hair and a ton of it. I lost about 50% of it and it was still falling out by the day. It clogged my shower drain every single day. It was horrible. Finally I got it cut to just below my shoulders and the hair loss came to a dead stop. I don't know why, I just know that it did. That was less than a month ago.
