    My Favourite Lunch

Laura... What brand of canned chicken do you use? The stuff I have tried is nasty! It's like weird little twigs, gross.

    Stomach/Mid Back pain/Hiccups/ PLEASE HELP!

I was assuming you were right out of surgery due to your symptoms. I'd stick to clears and call your doc to see what he suggests. Sorry you are going through this!

    Giving Up

If you want it bad enough, you'll do anything it takes. I should probably be nicer and pat your head but you know what? I'm not going to do that. Being banded is hard, it's much harder than what you are dealing with today. I think there is a difference between sheer frustration and giving up. You need to sit down and seriously think about which you really are. I have a hunch you are frustrated vs. feeling as though it's time to give up. Then you need to seriously consider how bad you want healthy. No support system? Sorry, such is life for some of us. I didn't even tell my HUSBAND when I was banded. Obviously, he figured it out. I wasn't about to let anything get in my way and I knew he'd try to stop me so I just didn't tell him. When he went out of town so did I. I went to Mexico and got banded. You don't HAVE to have a support system. It's nice and it's wonderful and it makes life easier but it is not impossible to accomplish without friends and family behind you. You know what my biggest support system has been? The people right here on this very forum. The newbies and oldtimers alike, they have all been my support system. They are the reason for my success. Get out there and get it done! You can do this because you clearly want it bad enough to start the process, research the band so now get out there and fight for what you want!

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

Already did the salon diet. Cut my hair off but it's as short as it's going. The nek'ed guy was creepy, but I have to admit he added speed to my running when I decided enough was enough and went home. I have ONE pound to go and I'll meet goal #1, banded and at goal in 10 months. One pound by Saturday. I think I can do this. I'm living on Chinese veggies and Water and running a LOT. Thanks for the kind words, MsDad. I'm anxious to have the whole fat thing become a part of my history.

    Countdown to goal.....

Ditto, best money I ever spent! So far it's $72.23/pound. I'd do it again without a 2nd thought.

    Nausea question

Could you have over eaten since you were so hungry?
  8. I've read a couple of people mention that their doc opened them up, saw their liver size and closed them up again. Told them to go on a diet and come back when they finished the diet. A lot of it depends on how strict the surgeon is.

    SOOOOOOO Bloated!

I'd venture a guess that everyone felt that way. Congrats, you're a bandster!

There is a great deal of information right here on this site. If you do a search on both names you'll see quite a bit.

    Supplements, Calcium, minerals, et al

I'd have to look at Centrum Silver to see if there is anything you shouldn't take too much of, I don't remember. But most Vitamins... well, ALL vitamins the bioavailability of them is not good meaning, you don't absorb much of them. Radox is something I get from Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore! or AllStarHealth.com - Vitamins and Nutritional supplements at Discounted Prices. It's supposed to get rid of free radicals or something. I'm not really sure why it works I just know that if I take them I lose weight faster. When I stop taking them I stop losing quickly. As many times as I've started/stopped/started/stopped I see the difference each time so I keep taking them. I really should open the capsules and put them in juice or something but I just wait for them to dissolve in my pouch. Sometimes a part of the capsule gets stuck for a few minutes bit it dissolves fast enough. They are horsepills and you have to take three daily. I can't say I notice a difference in how I feel, I don't have more energy or anything. I just notice I lose weight. But I don't know they are supposed to work that way. I don't care why or how they work I just know they are. HA!

    How'd THIS happen...my fickle band?

I kinda miss pasta and alfredo sauce but I like approaching "thin" a WHOLE lot more than pasta.

What do you think about this?

    Yes yes!!! What Catz wrote!!!
  15. HA! I do the same thing. Zip Lock Gallon Size baggies... I have tons of them.

What do you think about this?

eggs are evil. Some can do eggs well and some can't. Many oldtimers can't, so do you think your healing phase is a good time to find out if you can do eggs or not?

    I feel lonely.....

The first month is awful, at least it was for me. The emotional ups and downs and the mega emotional roller coaster is horrible. But it will pass. When you start considering having your band removed just know that you are progressing normally! HA! It's true, lots of people reconsider their band AFTER they have it. What you are feeling is normal. Replace food with an activity. Go walking, you need to exercise anyway and walking is GREAT after surgery. Instead of exercising by moving your hand from your plate to your mouth, move your legs and walk around the block. It will do wonders for weight loss and then you can do all the things you've been wanting to do. Just keep remembering, what you are feeling is normal and it WILL pass!!! Good luck to you and your new journey!

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

Okay, so I finally get brave and go outside to go running (seemed dark enough at 11:30PM) and who do I see? Some nek'ed guy peering in the windows of an apt complex. I hid behind a fence and called 911. The police guys come out and they want to know if I can identify him if they caught him. How many nek'ed guys are running around that neighborhood peering in windows at 11:30PM tonight? Am I missing something? I just explained that I could identify his butt. Would that help? I think they thought I was kidding. I still had two miles to go, I did 1.5 and it was just too creepy outside so I'm back in my house.

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

I can't. I still have to go for another run. But then a hot bath does sound kinda nice. Ahhhh, I think I will. Thank you!
  21. If you remind me in a week or so I'll send you samples of the stuff I ordered. I doubt it will be here before a week from tomorrow.

    Creative Vegetables ` Veggies

I personally prefer to save up my calories for my evening meal, that way I can pretty much have anything I want. So I usually stick to 1-2 protein shakes during the day and anything I want in the evening.

First fill during surgery - NO NO NO

Congrats on the 30lbs!!!! You went to Dr. Z... I've heard lots of good things about him. Glad to hear he does the barium test after surgery, more good stuff about him.

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

Nope, I'm doing this the right way. Three more pounds. Today I was 152.5 so I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be TWO pounds from goal. I did go shopping earlier and bought a whole bunch of fun stuff. My "every three weeks new clothes" routine. Hmmmm... I wonder how to make an Alfredo shake. It would probably be a mega calorie but I'll bet it would be GOOD! Glad about your restriction, I know you have been frustrated a lot lately, hopefully this will do the trick for you.

First fill during surgery - NO NO NO

The OPs post is a great reason for doing a barium swallow after surgery. I got a barium swallow the day after surgery and at each fill.
