They attempted to pass a law in Tombstone, AZ a few years ago that you had to have a diaper on your horse while riding down public streets. Not sure if it ever passed or not. A few years ago folks, not 100 years ago.

Hey, they have mixed veggies (I can't do celery or carrots) for 80 calories. It's food for a day. Okay, it was but today it's not. I'm HUNGRY! I'm sitting here looking at these nukable chocolate things from Duncan Hines.

I don't consume much in the way of white carbs, I lose a LOT faster that way. There are lots of changes you need to make in your food habits when you want to lose weight. If sugar got you heavy to begin with, continuing to eat it isn't going to help you lose.

It's a nerve that is in your diaphragm and it's irritated right now. Walking, a heating pad, and a rocking chair. That's about all you can do. Just wait it out, it will get better.

Obesity is a major cause of hernias. I'd venture a guess most of us had them.

Hey Faith... Have you seen those new Burger King straws for their Oreo Cookie shake? They are like a garden hose. Pieces of steak would fit through it! HA! Darn, wish I would have known about those puppies during my liquid phase. I'm KIDDING people, use a regular skinny straw....

Prices on band WOW
WASaBubbleButt replied to prettygirl1's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, follow up care is free for life and fills are free BUT the hospital charges for the radiologist/xray equipment. But my doc never charges me for anything he does at this point. However, I live in AZ, easy driving distance to Mexico. That makes a huge difference. You really can't shop by price, you have to shop by skill and your own comfort level. I think going to a clinic is a bad idea in Mexico vs. a hospital but in the US? I think it's totally doable. In that particular case Mexico and the US... well, you can't compare the two. Hospitals compare but not clinics. An out patient surgi-center in the US is totally doable. -
How long is the hospital stay?

My doc is standard for everyone, two nights and three days inpatient. -
Prices on band WOW
WASaBubbleButt replied to prettygirl1's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Wow, mine was last December, $7800. That was including everything; the band, surgeon, anesthesiologist, internal medicine doc, asst. surgeon, chest xray, labs, EKG, barium swallow, surgery, two full nights in the hospital, the works. I can't imagine spending more. -
Meat, Fish, Chicken, Carbs....what can I expect with the band?
WASaBubbleButt replied to Fish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The thing about the band is that after a few months of banding you really don't care about food. It no longer matters what you are eating vs. what others are eating. Look at the new threads of newbies, they are all about what can I eat, how much can I eat, when can I eat it? After you have been banded the obsession with foods dies down and you begin eating to live, or when you remember. That would have been impossible for me to comprehend in the beginning. I would have thought that would never happen. But it has. I do admit to being a little annoyed this week because I am on a seriously strict diet until Saturday but then I'm back to my usual foods. Today the only thing I'm bored with is people commenting on my portion size. I cover it up a bit and move food around my plate so it looks like I ate more than I did, but I do get sick of people questioning why I eat such small amounts but I suspect that will happen for the rest of my life. I guess my point is that my focus has shifted from what I will eat to how I explain portion sizes to others who are nosey. No way to tell what you will be able to eat or how much of it. You won't know that until you get there. Seems as though food choices expand a bit after you have a lot of practice with the band but in the end you'll find that you just don't care. -
I'm hungry. Off to Panda Express to get more Zucchini and Broccoli. Oh yum.

There is a lie about starvation+
WASaBubbleButt replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, I have some but I've never tried it. If you want me to send you a few samples I will. I only have a couple but you are welcome to them so you don't have to spend money to discover it's gross. There is a trick to using whey Protein for cooking. If it gets HOT it gets gross and clumpy. Consider... clumpy pond scum. BWAHAHAHA!!! It's not an issue of brand but an issue of whey. You have to stir, dissolve, THEN heat. Then it's not clumpy. But I don't use any of that crap, I use Matrix 5.0 or now Laurend has me hooked on Whey Gourmet. Never thought anyone could make me reconsider Matrix but Laurend did find some stuff that is amazing. For clears most docs are fine with Unjury and the nice part about the unflavored is that you can use it during clears, fulls, soft foods, and solids. You just mix it with whatever you want. Honestly, I didn't do my research on protein products before surgery. I tried Isopuke and decided that protein is just too damned over rated and who needs it??? While you DO have enough protein stores to go weeks wtihout protein the thing is, protein will kill your hunger during the liquid phase so you are only dealing with head hunger and not stomach hunger both. That's a killer and makes many fail. So you do have to suck it up and get protein in for hunger purposes. Heh... so glad I'm not you! -

WASaBubbleButt replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HAHAHA!!! Many refer to Isopure as IsopuKe for a reason. Pond scum... I swear that's what they use for texture is Isopuke. It takes some time to find a whey Protein you like but honest... one is out there. But the bullets, shots, and shooters? OMG! They are SOOOO bad for you, it's a GOOD thing that you don't like them. Sounds like you are an unjury kinda guy! It's unflavored. Put it in juice, milk, mix it in whatever you want. Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage -

I take it the ones experimenting with fills and unfills don't value their band? -
Tofu is still sounding better. I just need to practice with the stuff. I can't chew meat to a paste/liquid, it's just gross. By the time it's ready to go down I'm gagging.

Thanks, Chimboree. I still have ONE pound! One pound before Saturday. The scale didn't budge today so maybe tomorrow. :clap2:

You aren't in Mexico are you? My insurance doesn't cover Mexican nurses giving me advice on line! HA!
-
You'd be a fool to do that for a gazillion reasons. The biggest is risk of infection. Sterile technique does NOT mean alcohol and a sterile needle. You are risking losing your band for doing your own fills. See the link I posted and read ALL of it. Not just the last few posts.

Be Honest....
WASaBubbleButt replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why would this thread anger you? I can see why it would scare you, but why would it anger you? There isn't a single medical professional that is advocating a patient fill or unfill themselves. Just the opposite, quite frankly. I started this thread because the Sr. VP of Allergan told me that there is such a thing as fill parties and I thought with the poll being anonymous people would fess up if they had ever attended one. I had my fill in Mexico and I've never been overfilled by my Mexican doc, but I've been overfilled by a US fill nurse. -
Thanks, Faith! Yep, I think I can do it. I'm running and eating green things. If that doesn't do it nothing will~

Stuff happens, Wheetsin. We can recreate it if folks wish. There are plenty of examples we can use! HA! Thanks for explaining! You are the best!
