    Control Release

The problem with these types of drugs (usually has XR, ER, etc.) after the name on the prescription bottle) is that you can't crush or break them. They HAVE to be swallowed whole. If they are too large to be swallowed whole then you need to talk to your doc or your RPh about changing it to a form that you can take.

    OMG, How Crazy Am I????

Thanks. I finally reached goal this morning. Got my band 12/6/06, lost 102lbs, having my TT 12/3/07 so that means everything done in under a year! YEEHAWWWW! The head stuff... I'm hoping that plastic surgery and aluminum foil will fix it. If not, I think I'm a lost cause!

    Rice/Pasta on mushies?

Nope, those are two foods that many experienced bandsters can't eat. I wouldn't ever suggest a newbie try them.

    What a scam!

They can charge anything they want, that doesn't mean that's what they will collect. It's a predetermined contractual amount that they get. It will likely be around $15K. That's my guess. The last hospital I worked for broke it down for us and showed us the costs, etc. I believe it was 75% of their income went for employee costs. The cost of employees is amazing. With the nursing shortage they usually offer amazing benefits just to get nurses to go and work there.

What is a Good Bathroom Scale ?

Thanks, it's good to hear that from someone who has one. I keep going back and forth if I want to spend $200 on a scale. I'm already obsessed with losing weight and I'm not sure that will help me overcome that little issue. If I do get a balance beam scale that is the brand I'll get.

    What an exaggerated load.

UPS is a pain in the ass.

I believe you can go on line and have the 3rd attempt go to a different address. If you do it now you might catch it in time for them in the AM.

What is a Good Bathroom Scale ?

A friend's husband sells scales to hospitals and he swears digital scales are the least accurate and most likely to break. I plan on getting a balance beam scale and he said to get a Health O Meter brand. I don't think he's pushing me into a brand that isn't good because he doesn't sell that brand. It's like the scale in an MD office. The big tall kind. For a regular bathroom scale I honestly don't know. I just know what I wrote above.

    Be Honest....

It can happen for a variety of reasons. What if you have a tight restriction and you have swelling for some reason? If you don't have much room to spare and your stoma swells (maybe you get stuck, something like that) and then you might not be able to keep fluids down until swelling goes down. Saliva is a Fluid. That's not something that is common by any stretch where you are swollen to that degree. Or, what if you have a tight restriction and you get food poisoning? If you have a lot of violent barfing with a tight restriction you risk a slip. A gallbladder attack with violent barfing, something like that. In my case I can't count the number of fills and unfills I've had but I have different issues. I have stomach spasms that I didn't know about before banding. So I can't have a tight restriction but I didn't know that in the beginning and neither did my doc, nobody had any possible way of knowing before I was banded. This is also very rare, I'm the only person like this of my docs 1600 banded patients. There is another surgeon in Mexico that has done 3000 bands and he has two of us. So it's rare. I just didn't want you to think my issues are common, they are not. Not everyone needs a lot of restriction, I don't. Under fluoro I should be getting another 3/4 cc but I do fine without it so there is no reason to do it. I'd just have to have it unfilled later so this works for me.

Oh yeah, I remember the politics of staff members and family. Never again... I never want to teach again. It's not your fault she skipped a page of questions. Is she typically a good student? Does she usually do well?

    Another student rant.

Some folks just can't take tests. They get nervous, stressed, and they do stupid things. Of course, most of the time it is a hangover, no sleep, or no studying.

Why do I do it to myself?

She's writing a band booklet for him. The same thing she gives away to others and he's paying for it! HA!!!!

Why do I do it to myself?

Yeah, she's been caught on OH and her own doc's board. She was banned from the Kuri board for a while, they caught her coming up with new IDs to support her stance in any given topic when others would disagree with her. She's back now, but moderated. Heh... They are back to watching her IP address and that of the newbies.

Why do I do it to myself?

I remember that, it was pretty horrible. THAT is the kind of stuff that really doesn't happen over here. If people disagree they are adult enough to say they disagree and move on. There is no absolute hate and anger here the way there is on OH. People here are different. I mean... people here would help ANYONE that needed it. ANY fat person can come here and everyone will jump in and do anything they can for them. There are a couple of folks on LBT that aren't my favorite people in life but I'd do pretty much anything in my power to help them if there was something they needed. And they'd do the same for me. That doesn't happen on OH, not unless you are one of the cheerleaders. I was moderated for my "Cheerleader" theory on OH but I stand behind it. That IS what they are like. It's often said that nurses eat their young (they are mean to new grads) but the meanest old hags I have met in nursing don't compare to OH folks. There is simply no excuse for their behavior. When I was moderated I came back with a new ID. Instead of KabukiCoyote I was Kabuki_Coyote. Not exactly trying to hide who I was. I never lied about any ID, never came on as a sock puppet, I even point blank explained ON THE BOARDS why I changed my ID and yet the grief for changing IDs and the accusations of sock puppets... just more OH drama. It just gets so old after time. OH = Drama, hate, pack mentality, and cheerleaders. LBT = Support, sincere caring about others, sharing ideas, and forming REAL friendships. No drama, no cheerleaders, just sanity. I love it here.

Why do I do it to myself?

That's a great point. And JFTR, I've been following your posts for months and you have busted your butt and worked for every bloody pound you have lost. You have earned where you are now, it certainly wasn't given to you by any means. You have every reason to post about running and hard work, you've done it. I agree with you, there are lots of excuses for people not losing weight. There are some legit issues, some slow losers that really are trying with everything they have. But many times people just don't have it in them to do what it takes. I think for most it happens eventually, but there are lots of excuses in the meantime by some with the fat mentality. I honestly see more of them on OH than I do LBT. I like the attitude here, I like the support, I like the information, I like the people. I like the fact that when it's 2AM and I'm in a panic over something I can come here and someone will be here that understands and gets it and can talk me through it. This board has been a huge support for me and I can't imagine not having LBT. It's been a huge part of my ability to lose weight. I tell people here ... I tell them things I don't tell my real time friends. I do it because I can and it's a safe place to do so. What more can you ask from a board than that?

Why do I do it to myself?

I think Wendell hit the nail on the head when he voiced his opinion about the Sandy mentality. People have been soooo duped and manipulated, they have attacked anyone that wasn't falling all over Sandy in agreement with every word she types... now that it's been proven she's a nurse who had her license revoked for dishonest behavior and a LOT of other issues, how embarrassing is that? To admit they were manipulated and duped and for such a long time? It takes a certain amount of integrity to be an adult and admit you were fooled. Some have that integrity, some don't.

Thanks, Cindy. Thank you so much for the kind words. ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND® System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. But, be careful. The format is horrible, there are no sections like on LBT. There are many forums for each type of WLS, there is a forum for each state, etc. Check it out, sometimes there is good info there.

Why do I do it to myself?

Nope, not a spanking at all. Just the truth. I don't see any difference in OH today vs. six months ago. I think it is the same, if not worse in many ways. To each his own. No single forum will please everyone, you have to go where it serves you best.
