Kat... Ditto. I tried protein, Biotin, Vitamins x6 daily (childrens chewables), Calcium, VERRRRY expensive shampoo/conditioners ($35/5oz), the works. I tried brushing my hair less, washing it less, brushing/washing more, I am pretty sure I tried beating my head against a block wall a time or two as well! Nothing worked. The month I stopped losing weight it started to regrow. As soon as I started losing weight again it started falling out again. I now have a very cool haircut with the exception of the 4cm long wavy hairs floating over the top of my head from that one month of regrowth. I think it is as a Phoenix bariatric surgeon wrote in OH magazine, if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen and it usually happens between the months of 2-9. If you think about it, that's when we really kick butt losing weight. I also think lots of things cause hair loss from reading everyone's experiences. I think anesthesia can do it, childbirth, major traumatic event in your life, low carbing, massive weight loss, the fall season, and stubbing your right big toe. From the small and unscientific poll we have here and from the mega research a ton of us did it appears that about 50% of WLS patients experience this and if you are on the hair loss side of the 50% then there isn't a bloody thing you can do about it until it's done and wants to grow back.

Two days post op (banded 3rd Oct)

The only problem with stool softeners such as Docusate Sodium (aka Colace) is that they tend to work better to prevent a problem. They don't work as well for an active problem. -
So any opinions if Sandy will ever get her license back? From either state?

Was anyone banded in December of '06?
WASaBubbleButt replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I doubt I *could* keep it without Luvox. So yes, I know that as long as I want to keep my band I have to take the drug and I want to keep my band. Life is sooo much easier with it when it comes to food issues. The first six months was really horrible. My problem hadn't been diagnosed at that time and I was miserable. Everyone here had to hear about it. Daily. I just hated the band and hated everything about it. I just had to be really careful to make good food choices. Instead of milkshakes I drank Protein shakes made with Water (I still do that, I prefer it though). Instead of crunchy things like chips and Cookies I ate veggie chips. Vegetables that are baked until they are dry and crunchy. Here they are: J&D Fine Foods | Nuts By The Pound | Dried Fruit By The Pound | Candy By The Pound | Gift Baskets | Wholesale Bulk Nuts I couldn't eat any fresh fruit so instead of Mickey D's yogurt with fruit I ate dried fruit (see above link). But then the problem was diagnosed and finally we tried Luvox and now I'm very close to a normal banded person. I still can't tolerate normal person fills but I've learned to deal with it. It was easy to get the bad stuff down but the good stuff made me barf non stop. There were times I'd barf 30+ times weekly so I had to learn what I could eat and I made sure it wasn't crap food. I'm still shocked that my band didn't slip. I've told my doc that he had to have used glue, cement, epoxy, sutures, staples, and paper clips to keep it in place. I decided at the time that I wasn't going through all that to stay fat so I dropped my calories down to 600 and I've pretty much kept it there since I was banded. Not my doc's ideal diet but I wanted this chapter closed for good and I wanted it done quickly. He prefers 800 calories daily and with good restriction, it's totally doable. But I cut out all white carbs so with Protein intake, I honestly wasn't (and am not) hungry much. It's the white carbs that are a killer to us. It messes with your blood sugar and causes blood sugar spikes. That's part of the chain that causes hunger. No blood sugar spikes and you have very little hunger. Exercise... oh yeah! Tons of exercise. People used to laugh at me because if they called I'd jump on the treadmill and do power walking while chatting. It made the time fly by. If I wasn't on the phone I was watching DVDs with my head phones on and running. I was running about five miles daily. Now I walk and/or run for about a total of five+ miles daily. I'm just now getting the nerve to run outside in front of actual people but I wait until 11:30PM to do it. Of course then there was naked guy the other night but that's another story. For the most part I was doing 60-120 minutes of cardio daily, at least half of it was hard cardio. I did buy a Bowflex but I still don't quite know what to do with it so I haven't really started using that yet. Clearly my way isn't for everyone. Each person has to find what works for them and do that. If you are losing weight and it's not too fast and not too slow, if you are getting your nutrition in, if you are healthy, and if you and your doc are happy then whatever way you choose is the right way. The one thing that kept me going was that I created my infamous goal. I've talked to death about it here but my goal has always been to get banded, lose weight, and have plastic surgery within a year. My band was 12/6/06, I am at goal, and plastic surgery is scheduled for 12/3/07. All in a year. I'd try to find a goal that really seriously means something to you. Something that matters a great deal for you and work towards that goal. I also did things for myself at various milestones. I started out morbidly obese so when I was only "seriously" obese I think I bought a bunch of cool stuff for my computer. Then when I was just "obese" I went to see a banded friend out of state, when I was just "fat" I had my hair completely redone at a fancy salon. Come up with mini goals for yourself and do something that you honestly enjoy as a reward. Something you will sincerely look forward to and it is worth working a little harder so you can have that "thing" you want. Otherwise you end up feeling like every single day is a chore to lose weight. Instead of focusing on that, you can focus on the cool goal you have in mind. It made a huge difference for me. Sorry, this turned into a book, I didn't mean for that to happen but to be honest, it happens a lot. One thread many of us enjoyed was this one, lots of fun ideas for food variety: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/cheaper-than-bariatriceating-com-33990/?highlight=Cheaper+than+bariatriceating.com Hope this helps! -
You have to go with your comfort level. I felt just as you do but now that I cut it off, I regret not doing it sooner. It looks SOOO much better now. Long and straight hair is simply not in style. It's not a great style for our age, and it doesn't hide a bit of fat. But if you had a cute style people would be more focused on your hair than anything else. I have brown hair. I had it colored to a softer brown and to cover up a few stray grays. Then I had light caramel highlights. Now I'm thinking dark blonde, I want to do something drastic! I just haven't decided *how* drastic yet. I'm about as conservative as they come so this is big for me.

I never tried it myself, I had the other problem. Liquids in/liquids out. -
Most feel it is due to a fluid shift in your body and it makes sense to me. If I am really tight in the morning and go run for about 10-15 minutes, everything opens right up. Gravity messes with fluids and when you've been sleeping all night fluids settle. When you are up and moving things improve.

Are you aware she has posted the same post in 9 threads? I know one was deleted so that makes 10. I'm sorry she had this problem but spamming us isn't going to fix it. If there was something we could to do change the office policy I think most of us here would do so. But com'on, 10 threads? Same post? Can you imagine what it would be like if we ALL did that? -

I have a small fill. I asked him to fill me like he would a "normal" person because I wanted to know just how weird I am and it was 2.8, he quickly unfilled it and gave me a BubbleButt fill and I'm at 1.7. (4cc band) I seem to do okay if I have restriction on the nerve in my stomach that tells me I'm hungry. If there is pressure on that nerve it kills my hunger and I'm good to go. I doubt I'll ever tolerate a "normal person" fill. I couldn't tolerate the band at all (even unfilled) without Luvox. Luvox is band candy for me. -
My LBT is all smoofy now. I still can't edit without it being a pain in the butt, threads are not showing up, I still can't edit without it being a pain in the butt, new posts show on the page listing threads but not in the thread itself, I still can't edit wtihout it being a pain in the butt, when I click on UC to get a list of active threads I participate in 75% of the time it shows blank but if I keep clicking on it over and over again then my long list of threads shows up, and did I mention that I still can't edit without it being a pain in the butt? Any ideas how long glitches will last? When the ads went away I assumed changes were being made. Is this a long process or is these unexpected glitches? being jerked around by Dr. Meji.. Athens, GA

Well, as I wrote on another thread where you posted this. Quote: Originally Posted by pattychat I understand having to pay upfront. If he had told me that at the initial meeting... I paid off gall bladder surgery that I had on July 25th by Oct. 4th because they said I would have to before having my lapband. A friend of mine was upset because I was so upset and the office manager at Dr. Mejias office told her that I did not pay my bills. Isn't that slander? I paid off my ball bladder surgery within two months of getting the statement. To that the office manager said, yes, but we had to call her. ONE WEEK before surgery is not enough notice and I felt it was unfair. The only thing I knew to do was walk out. I had even had my preopt done. Dr Mejias (athens, Ga) said he would start telling patients that they had to pay this amount upfront at the initial seminar. I think I'll go to make sure he does... hand out flyers in front of the office. I understand your frustration because when you want a band you want it now, not in a few months. But I think it was equally your responsibility to ask the payment terms as it was the office to tell you up front. I don't enter into any financial agreement without knowing up front when the money is due, etc. That just does not make good business sense. As for the OM telling a friend that you don't pay your bills, that's a big mega no-no and quite unprofessional. The situation should not have been discussed with a friend unless you gave permission for that to happen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, with the new info on this thread that you have started (again) about the (same) topic you explain that your friend is an attorney. That would explain why the office manager told the person information, they obviously thought it was your attorney so they can give out financial information. Look, I realize you are frustrated beyond words and angry about what happened. But spamming the boards with it isn't going to help. *We* didn't do anything to you so writing the same thing over and over again isn't going to serve a purpose. Cheers. -
I mentioned this on another thread and had to tell my news!!! I bought some clothes at Dillards the other day and didn't have the guts to try them on until last night. I have boobs and a smallish waist! I put on this black shirt that is very fitted, buttons up, etc. and with a wonder bra it looks like I have my old boobs back again and I SAW my waist! I HAVE ONE NOW! Maybe things are getting better!!!! I might even take a photo and post it. Well, the shirt part anyway! HA!

I still don't know why this happened but when I cut my long hair to shoulder length, the hair loss came to a dead stop. I don't know if the weight of my hair was contributing or what. But I do wish I would have done it a long time ago. With that said nothing is really growing back in yet except for the 4 month old stuff that started to regrow the month I intentionally stopped losing weight. But the rest? Nothing yet. I suspect it will start in the next month or so since I won't be losing much anymore. However, it's worth repeating. The one month I stopped losing weight my hair started to come back in. When I started losing again regrowth stopped. I'm thrilled with my hair now, it's a lot more age appropriate, it looks sooo much better, it has more style, more color, more everything. Wish I would have done it ages ago.

WooHoo, side of page ads gone!
WASaBubbleButt replied to faithmd's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I have to admit I have not received any spam since I joined here. But I have gmail and they are great at blocking spam. However, I check my spam box and rarely get anything. I have a "fat" email address. Anything that has to do with fat issues goes to my gmail account. Stuff I KNOW will be crap goes to yahoo and I never check that, I let the mailbox fill and yahoo deletes it. Then I have another email for family.... I never get spam when I do it that way. All spam goes to Yahoo and I never even log on to see it. -

I thought I was just special and I was the only one that didn't see the ads. Lauren, you can get rid of that annoying girl: User CP >> Edit Options >> Misc. Options >> Forum Skin >> Tset Edit However, I am seeing glitches and am wondering if Alex is changing things. I can't see posts, threads show a post was made by "any user" and I click on that thread and the posts aren't showing up. Seems to be just since this AM. It keeps showing unread messages, the last poster's name is on the thread but when I open the thread there is no post. It shows 37 posts but when I open the thread there are only 35 posts. I'm guessing Alex is changing things around. -
It is if you ate first thing in the AM. Many can't eat solids until around noon or so.

Which Health O Meter scale do you have? Is it the dial kind or balance beam? -
I think I have cherry. If I do I'll send you some of that. You want strawberry, raspberry, and cherry? I'll look and make sure.

I just got that powdered peanutbutter today, PB2. That stuff is GREAT! I added 1/2 serving to my Chocolate Matrix and it was GREAT. Not sure I'd want a full serving in there but half was wonderful. I'll be sending you some via snail mail.

Congrats on being preggers!!!! You can get the band later, now it's time for the baby! That's wonderful. You know, I was just looking up your profile yesterday and wondering where you were. It said you hadn't logged on since the middle of last month. Where have you been?
