I hate it when people post just to post.....

Pee first. Then you will have room for milk. With the band your whole body only holds so much milk. So go pee and then you can drink that much in milk. My friend who has a sister who babysits for this lady has a neighbor that has a band and she said so.

No, no kitties but I have mentally retarded Shih Tzu (brain damage at birth), a neurotic OCD Poodle (beaten, kicked, and abused in ways that are nothing short of a horror as a puppy), Pickles the bunny, and Mr. Fish. However, we do take care of the neighborhood cats. Does that count? Can I be a cat lady? Can I can I?? Oh PLEASE?

    I Want One!!!!

Okay, so I saw this cool piercing on the news yesterday and although I am about as conservative as they come, THIS one I could do. I am trying to find something fun to do to Celebrate my weight loss. Check it out: Sage's Urban Art Tattoo and Piercing Then go to "Piercing" then click "enter" then go down the page to "Dermal Anchors" and it's the 6th one from the left. I could buy the item and have a doc implant the anchor under my skin. I could have my jeweler make a real top part that is an actual gem stone. It would end up looking like a diamond or Tanzanite is glued to my wrist. It's like a pierced earring only the anchor is under my skin on top of my wrist. What do you think? I saw the tattoo guy doing it on the news, took about 3 minutes or less. I don't want a tattoo place doing it, I want a real doc doing it. I'm not doing anything without running it by "TheFox" (member) because I am wayyy out of my league on this one. Poor girl, I've sent her at least a gazillion PMs tonight with links asking questions. Thoughts?
  5. Yep, a lot of us are having a bit of kick back time and some fun. Instead of coming up with various IDs you should try have a little fun once in a while as well. But these IDs merely go to prove my point about Dr. G people coming up with a new ID more often than you change your underwear. If you think you are doing him any favors you are in error.
  6. Hey, I have an idea. You have dodged every single question I have asked you while I do believe I have answered all your questions. I have made one claim, a claim I'm pretty sure you verified and found was accurate. If you believe your docs stats are "poison" then why in the world didn't you check stats before having surgery? Poison is a pretty strong word, all things considered. And for posting the truth all you can do is hand out slams and insults. Is that the kind of "supportive" you want me to be too? Sorry, not gonna happen.

Oh my, then enlighten me. Just how many IDs are you posting under, Liz?

You are right, some of the questions are a little bizarre. If someone is constipated all they need to do is say, "I'm constipated, is this typical for others and what do you do about it?" Instead they have to go into complete detail about what their pooh looks like, what size balls it comes out in, how long it took to pooh, and details that honestly... we don't need to know. A little class can go a long way. Reminds me of something a friend (and poster here) was telling me recently. Her son hurt himself at a football game and she was taking him to ER for an xray. A pregnant female at the game had a vaginal discharge and in the middle of the game she decided she needed to go to ER that minute even though this wasn't a new problem. On the way to the hospital she took her underwear off and showed each person in the car her discharge. Including the 14 year old kid. Again... just a little class would go a long way. Sometimes the questions here are along that level. Or when someone flat out explains in their post, I don't chew well, bites are too big, I eat too fast, and eat all the wrong foods and I get stuck. Do I need an unfill? What the heck, how do you respond? They already know the problem so why are they asking? It's a reason to start a thread and post. Can't they think of anything they actually need to know or want to discuss?

    most ignorant reply

I think people just don't know what to say. I don't think they are trying to be stupid or unsupportive, I think sometimes when caught off guard there really is no right answer. Me: Hey, I got a lapband! Coworker: Great, you are really fat! I mean, if they are extra supportive in their mind isn't that the same as acknowledging we are fat? When caught off guard I can see how it would be an uncomfortable situation. Saying, "Oh, you don't need that!" I hear them saying, "You do need to lose weight but I'll be polite and say you don't need it." I mean, I don't think people are intentionally being rude but with everyone big on being PC I think some folks just don't know how to handle WLS. It's not one of those scenarios we typically practice going over in our minds so on the off chance it happens one day we'll be prepared. Another example, a couple of years ago one of the nurse managers was preggers. I mean, it was obvious. When I realized she was preggers I congratulated her. She looked like she was due to pop in a month. She didn't say anything, I wasn't even sure she heard me. My coworker got me off to the side and explained she wasn't preggers. The hell she wasn't, she was! Turns out I was right, she was preggers, she was due in two months, and she was annoyed that after all those months of being pregnant I was the only one that commented on it. Everyone else just thought she was gaining more weight and her feelings were hurt and by the time I came along and noticed, it was too late. She was angry that everyone was ignoring her pregnancy. Sometimes I don't know that there is a right answer. It's not like there is a script you can read. Kinda like how some people when they lose half their excess body weight a person might congratulate them on being "skinny" ... some fat folks will take offense to that and others will take it in the spirit intended. There IS no right answer. You can tell 10 fat people the SAME thing and get 10 different reactions. I think we need to give those around us a bit of a break.

    First plateau...

I've heard and read this a great deal too. It never worked for me but I seem to be the only one it did not work for. Dr. Mike suggests making at least a 50% change in calories. Today 500 calories, tomorrow 1000 calories, the day after 800 calories, the day after that 1300 calories, etc. Not sure if it makes a difference or not but just thought I'd throw it out there. I also agree about the intensity of workouts, especially hard cardio. After time power walking didn't do anything for me and I started running. That made a difference. I still hate running. But, I have to admit that it works.

    I Want One!!!!

I'm not a fan of tattoos. I would never get one but I don't think weird things about those that have them. I'm finding that I'm not a real fan of my piercing either! LOL I'm going to keep it for a few weeks and then probably have it removed. I've noticed that when my friends see it they just look, raise an eyebrow, and say, "Ohhhh, a piercing." HA! Yet when someone 20 or under sees it they say, "Ohhhhh WOW! I wish MY Mom would do something like that!" I actually liked the photo of the other person better than I like my own. But you know what? I'm glad I did it. I'm soooo conservative in too many ways and I wanted to do something I'd never do in a million years. Well, I did it. Next week I'll likely have it removed and I can then refer to my piercing days.
  14. Well, it is offensive because you read the posts and reposted them yet you declined to post my response. That does make it look as though you posted it with an agenda. Is that something to be respected? Seems a bit deceptive to me. POISON a thread? Are you serious? By posting a doc's stats that is poisoning a thread? The ONLY claim I have made about Dr. G is his stats. Nothing else. You consider that poisoning a thread??? I believe the majority of people posting on this board are adults and they can decide for themselves if posting a doc's stats is poison or not. It would only be poison to a patient coordinator. Can't let those pesky facts out, can we? I agree completely. That wasn't the brightest of things to say to a patient. But there is a difference between not being proactive in calling patients after surgery vs. declining to return phone calls when a patient has a question or problem. That was my issue. I don't agree with the lack of follow up care either, I agree with you. But there is still a big difference between not being proactive and ignoring phone messages. Posting a docs stats is not discrediting him. Posting incorrect info about another doc is discrediting him. How come you don't have a problem with discrediting other doctors? Um, I never made that claim. You did. I don't know, perhaps you folks could explain that to me. What negative "things" have I written about your doc? I've flat out claimed that I don't know if he is a bad doc or the best. Not a clue. I posted HIS stats. If you feel this is negative then perhaps you need to take it up with him. Honestly, with these wild claims you make it sound like I write a post to every person on this forum explaining that Dr. G is a horror for a doc and nobody should go to him. Show me such a post. I challenge you, show me such a post.
  15. Lizrbit/Hazel... When you stop using a play ID and start using your real ID we'll chat. In the meantime I have no use for you or your never ending slams and insults under this ID or the other. Cheers.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Oh lizrbit... If you don't like the thread then go back to your other ID where you have everyone blocked.
  17. Nope, I am not a patient coordinator. I have never made a penny from a patient or any physician regarding weight loss issues, surgery, etc. I am a nurse, not a patient coordinator. I encourage people to look at several physicians, not just one. I push researching your potential doc and verifying everything, something I note many of you posting in this thread do not do. I push not believing ANYONE on line and to verify for yourself EVERYTHING you are told, need links? You guys seem to push one doc and one doc only and you suggest *I* am the patient coordinator? Do you see how silly this looks? Keep in mind, this whole thing started when I defended Dr. Ortiz against NM's claims. Do I work for him too? I flat out tell people my personal preference in docs is Aceves and Rumbaut and why they are my choices. Do I work for all three of these docs? What about Zapata? I've defended him as well regarding bogus claims. Will you assume I work for him? We were able to demonstrate quite well that Dr. G's patient coordinators not only post here but come up with various IDs when they need additional support. Folks are still doing it, aren't they? One odd thing I have noticed, you copied the posts to me but you "forgot" to post my responses yet you suddenly feel the need to ask again vs. reading and posting my replies. Considering these issues have already been addressed, why wouldn't you post it all? Any reason for that? You wouldn't be attempting to make this appear different than reality, would you? It would appear that I am the only one pushing for facts, neutrality, and being objective. I am the only one explaining that my doc isn't a good fit for everyone just as your doc is not a good fit for everyone. I am the only one suggesting more than one doctor yet you feel the need to ask me (again) if I am a patient coordinator? There are lots of good doctors out there. Choosing one depends a great deal on personal preference (such as close to the border, not close to the border, clinic vs. hospital, etc.) and not just who is "nice" vs. not. Why is it that Dr. Gonzales patients are free to post bogus claims about other docs but if someone dares to post facts about your doc, the world comes to an end? Sounds fishy to me. I have posted facts, you guys have posted slams, insults, as well as inferences that I am a patient coordinator. Funny how that works. Are YOU a patient coordinator? Do you make money from pushing people to go to your doc? Do you recruit patients? Do you realize how this whole thing has come to be? Someone slammed Dr. Ortiz. I defended Dr. Ortiz. I posted Dr. G's 4% erosion stats. Two people were going to confirm with his office what the stats are. Instead of coming back and being honest (which quite frankly, I can't begin to understand why someone wouldn't know their docs stats before surgery regardless of which doc) instead after my claim was verified I suddenly become a target, am slammed and insulted and now the inference that I am a patient coordinator. Do you honestly think you are making your doc look good this way? You know what? Even if I was a patient coordinator, and I'm not, how would that change Dr. Gonzales' erosion stats? Are you under the impression that insulting me will change his numbers? Or is this just an attempt to redirect the topic? I don't mind discussing stats, redirection, bogus claims, patient coordinators. I'll talk about it all week if you want. Your choice.
  18. LOL! Well that is certainly a lot easier than admitting I didn't make a mistake about stats, answering the many questions I have posed to you, or refuting the facts. If that is your best shot.... so be it. When all else fails (such as an inability to defend your claims) then slam and insult. Right? No, I think I'll hang out here for a bit. Considering I have only presented one fact that came from the doc's office and you feel the need to defend him, that pretty well says it all, eh?

    Anyone else have low potassium?

I had seriously low potassium and I had no idea. No symptoms except I was really tired all the time. I chalked it up to going to bed too late and getting up too early. I started getting more sleep and it still didn't go away. Found out by accident. If your doc didn't give you supplements to take then it is probably just slightly low and a change in diet might be in order. Another issue, are you taking high blood pressure meds? Diuretics? Anything? That was a huge part of my problem. A HBP drug I was taking. What is your doc suggesting?

Specific Supplements for Temp Hair Loss?

We already did that on multiple threads and nothing works. If you feel Nioxin works for you I'd keep doing that. I only tried Nioxin once and I didn't care for it, it burned my head. I do still use Bumble & Bumble brand Density Therapy. I can't say it is working but it isn't hurting either. At least I feel like I am doing something. My hair loss stopped but I'm waiting for regrowth. Everyone here told me it would stop, and it did. Then they told me it would come back, I'm trusting them that it will. We all tried so many different things, Vitamins, added Protein, Iron, various minerals, tonics, shakes, shampoos, conditioners, etc. Nothing worked. Your hair will quit falling out when it quits falling out.

    Alli diet pills

I personally disagree with the use of drugs such as that after one has restriction. The whole idea of having a lapband is to change your whole world regarding food and food issues. Making right choices is easier said than done, it comes with a lot of head work and it's no easy task. But it's something you kinda have to do unless you want to take Alli for the rest of your days. Same holds true with amphetamines to suppress hunger, starch blockers, etc. Xenical was on the market for a long time, still is to the best of my knowledge. Thing is, the drug was a huge flop. The drug co thought it would be a huge hit and it was until people started taking it and leaking orange goo. The word spread and it didn't do nearly as well as predicted. It is still used but not nearly as much as expected. I suspect the same will hold true for Alli. When enough people pooh their pants in public they aren't going to want to chance that one again. Alli is the same as Xenical just a much lower strength.

    which is best?

Nooo, not based on weight. Usually your doc will give you a number. If he didn't or you don't recall, ask him. My doc suggests 800 daily, some suggest 1000. It varies. I have no idea what your doc suggests for you.

    slippage and erosion

No, they haven't changed their policy. Don was just giving out wrong information. I suspect that he gets calls on a daily basis requesting info on getting certified to do fills. Too many people that want to do their own fills or a gazillion others that want to start a "fill" career. So he just doesn't tell about the class. To be honest, I can't blame him yet when there is a legit person they will be given wrong info. I don't agree with a lot of policies of Inamed. While I think they have a good product I believe the company is run with the morality of a stray alley cat. I just don't like them, far too much dishonesty for my tastes. That's why I'm thrilled there is now another FDA approved band, J&J. Perhaps Inamed will be forced to clean up their act a bit.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

You know, in the post she was responding to ALL I suggested was stocking up on adult diapers. I never said she should or shouldn't do that, it's her choice if she wants to leak orange goo. Someone else said the same thing. Maybe the "other" thread on R&R has made me a bit touchy. Could be.
