We disagree. We most certainly do not know that pre op is harder than post op. Perhaps that was your experience but it is not the experience of everyone. Pre op is usually 10 days, post op is MUCH longer for most. If the post op diet can't be followed then plans need to be made now with her doc for something she can handle. Not when she gets there and she realizes she can't do it. Nobody is more sympathetic to post op diets and the frustrations they cause then me. I am the one that my personal opinion is that I think it is silly to have someone restrict caloric intake during the post op diet. As long as the person sticks to the stage of the diet they are in, I personally don't care how many calories they consume. If that means 40 cans of soup, so be it. That's my opinion only, I'm not suggesting people not follow their doc's advice. I am saying I don't think many docs realize that if we could restrict calories without restriction, we wouldn't have needed a band. I'd rather she talk to her doc now and make plans for post op than to risk a slip later.

What are you going to do when you get banded and are on the post op diet? Solids too soon can damage your band placement and/or cause a slip. You have to want thin and healthy bad enough to follow through with everything.

Yeah, he wasn't too happy with what has happened. He knows nothing of this "Vicky" person but said he has about 10 lawyers he uses in the US for various things and he's going to deal with it. He asked that I send him a link to the thread. I think I believe him that he'll deal with it.

I can't even post, I just can't. I get so annoyed. Not sure why it makes me so mad when people do this, it's their stomach, their band, their weight loss. But this is the one that gets me going each and every single time. I just wanna go smack people like this.

I just received a call back from Dr. Ortiz. Considering he had no idea why I was calling and I'm not even his patient and he returned my phone call this fast on a Sunday evening, I'd say he's paying attention to his messages. He obviously does not know off the top of his head if he operated on a "Vicky" 10/1 but he is going to look into this and let us know.

I noticed the same thing. I just put in a call to Dr. Ortiz. He's not even on call tonight so no clue if he'll get the message I left for him. If this is another patient coordinator this needs to come to a freak'en stop once and for all. This is supposed to be a support board, not one to use for freebie advertising by patient coordinators. Patient coordinators need to go back under their rocks where they belong and leave this board to banded folks or folks researching WLS options.

I would suggest looking for a doctor that has done at least 250 bands. But, that is merely my opinion.

I'd be very interested to see if there was even a "Vicky" that Ortiz operated on 10/1. I have a hunch there is no such person. Hopefully, we'll soon find out. If the story is true, it needs to be information that is known to others. If it is a load, it needs to be pointed out that this is how patient coordinators operate. They down other docs because their own docs don't have enough positive info to use in sales.

Dr. Ortiz is not a bad surgeon, he isn't. I'd bet money that was a patient coordinator that wrote that post and spreading it around. Dr. Ortiz has great stats, not all docs do. Do they NM Sunshine?

I am the volunteer nurse on a police forum. When the guys are sick, injured, their wives are in the hospital... I am the one they call/email for info and support. I get what you are saying, I am the SAME way. I'll defend them to the end. I see THEIR side. I'll defend them blindly, not so great... I know. But I do take their side over the bad guy. I often times see both sides of the story unlike the media. Point taken? With all that said, there are a verrrrry few minority that aren't like the norm, the regulars, those that went into the profession for a reason. Just try messing with their stats, they will make your life a living hell. Especially if you are a female rape victim screwing with their stats. My guys on my forum... I adore them. They are like my big brothers. I take what they say to heart because I trust them. And they trust me. No easy task for a non-LE type person. True? They get the dark humor, they understand me and my job. I understand their job as best I can for non-LE. We get along very well and I trust them with everything I have. It's a relationship I can't explain, it just is. I'll bet you a dollar if I PM you the forum you'll know exactly where I speak of.

YES YES YES!!!!!!!! The cheaper they are the more they care about their patients. It makes NO difference that they have to pay $2K for the band, if they will band you for $100 they care about you MORE. GO THERE! Some docs make their own bands in their garage. They are superior to the other bands, go there fer sure!

And, see, these are situations where you could have taken the bull by the horn, so to speak. You should have complained to the applicable internal affairs unit. If you got nowhere there, you should have gone to the chief of police, then the city manager and then the mayor and if all those venues failed you then, given the severity of what they did to you or what they didn't do for you, these would have made juicy stories for the news media. I have to step in at this point. What you say is MUCH easier said than done. I'm not going into details tonight. It's not the right place or time. But what you suggest can be absolutely impossible in certain circumstances. It's not just this easy, there are times it is MUCH more difficult than you make it sound. I like you a great deal, we agree on ALL animal issues. We disagree completely on the above issue. We could not disagree more. I think you have to walk in those shoes before you know how it feels. Be in a small town where your rape increases rape stats by 50% because the year prior there were only two rapes. You are suggesting something and in reality one would think it is easy. I'm telling you, it isn't. You are wrong on more than one level here and I'm not backing down on this one.

I don't. That is why she is going along with my story of how I know Dr. A. She knows the truth. She is keeping my secret. She's cool... I like her a great deal. I've been posting there for years. So has she. She's good people. However, that board is farrrr more accepting of fatties or those that are not typical people. They are about as accepting as they can get. If I told them the truth, they wouldn't care one way or another. They accept me for what and who I am. That's what is great about THAT board.

Deb is playing along with my story. She is the ONLY person that knows I am banded and that is how I know Dr. A. That explains my TT, etc. She isn't telling anyone I am banded. I am AzA. I'm a Rev, don'cha know! Deb is cool, she's really a neat person. First on that forum to admit she's banded. She is a more brave soul than me!
