what to do when something is stuck

Don't push it too hard, remember you are going to be even tighter in the mornings than you were before. Take it verrry slow and easy. -
Assisted Suicide/Interesting Reading
WASaBubbleButt posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
(small intro to article) >>I'm not afraid of dying - only of livingWhen he realised he could no longer read or write, 81-year-old Parkinson's sufferer Ernst-Karl Aschmoneit decided he no longer wanted to live. Two days ago, that wish was realised when he travelled to a Zurich euthanasia clinic. by Carol Midgley In a few hours Auschmoneit will have committed assisted suicide, lying on a single bed in a small suburban apartment. Tomorrow his body will be cremated and later his ashes will be scattered on Water, as he has instructed.<< This is an article from 2003 so it is not recent but I watched a documentary about this man a few years ago and I've never forgotten it. I'm interested in the opinions of others. Thoughts? Ideas? Remember, this is not euthanasia, this is assisted suicide. I'm not afraid of dying - only of living - Times Online -
what to do when something is stuck

I wouldn't push it much more tonight. If fluid is going through, albeit slowly, you might have swelling instead of something stuck. Give the swelling time to go down. -

What are you stuck on? I wouldn't push it, stop the apple juice and such. You might be making it worse. If you have swelling than the more you eat/drink the worse it is going to get. -
Big Ol' Hairy Religion vs. Athiest Debate
WASaBubbleButt replied to Titslereaux's topic in Rants & Raves
I remember as a kid none of it making sense to me. I recall asking my Dad about this and he essentially used Pascal's Wager on me. It worked for a bit but then the doubts kept creeping in. The more I began to study science the weaker my faith became so I went searching for a God I could buy into. I think I've been a half dozen religions! I even took all the classes and converted to Judaism but that didn't pan out either. I realized I couldn't force myself to believe. Then after a garden variety of Christianity beliefs as well as Jewish beliefs I became a full blown New Age Twinkie. It was during that time that I realized that the mind games I was playing on myself just weren't working and I finally acknowledged and admitted to myself that I am an atheist. Worked for me, best realization I have ever come to. I see the world with a completely different perspective and life is good. May I offer a bit of advice? It isn't ours to try and convince others their religion is wrong. It's one thing to ask questions and understand their perspectives but to prove their statements right or wrong really isn't wise. We each have to walk our own path. Fight like the dickens when laws are created that don't fit within the constitution or Bill of Rights. If your toes are stepped on, step back. But when it comes to personal belief that is individual and people have every right to believe or lack belief as they wish. I think sometimes people of all ages have the atheism realization (for lack of a better phrase I just made that one up) and they are excited to finally have our truth. The truth that is right for us. We all tend to want to share the atheist version of the Word and I'm not sure it is really necessary. It's a fine line that we all cross here and there when debating. I will stop and think about what I am writing and if I realize it is to prove someone wrong or change their beliefs, I stop. If it is to understand why they think as they do I keep writing. But that's just my opinion, yours may differ a great deal. -
Big Ol' Hairy Religion vs. Athiest Debate
WASaBubbleButt replied to Titslereaux's topic in Rants & Raves
Whoa... I'm not out to change anyone's beliefs. I'm looking to understand concepts. We all have a path in this life and each path is different. What's right for me is not right for you, etc. If a Christian is going through a period of doubt and they are looking for links to good atheism sites, the LAST thing I will do is give it to them. I know how atheism sites are and you can't talk you way out of a conversation with an atheist that knows the bible through and through. If they insist on links I'll give them links to other places where they have time to think it through such as Wicca sites, deist sites, etc. But never an atheist site. I'm not out to change the beliefs of anyone when it comes to religion. My thoughts are pretty clear on that one. You live your life, don't harm anyone, do whatever the heck you want. I'll do the same and we can live in harmony. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Big Ol' Hairy Religion vs. Athiest Debate

I was raised Catholic and it affected my life for a number of years. If I want to comment on a concept, I will. IOW, get over yourself. -
I need to seriously work on my Spanish. I don't want to take a community college class for time issues and other reasons. Any suggestions on learning basic conversation and medical Spanish in Phoenix? Thx

(Off Topic) Spanish Classes
WASaBubbleButt replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Careful what you ask you, you might just get it. There is a program in Mexico where you can live with a family and take intensive Spanish lessons four times daily with others. It's six weeks long and costs $2K. Wanna join me? HA! -

No, actually it was that damned Catholicism, not the Catholics that was the point of the post. -

I understand what you mean about Catholicism. I was born and raised Roman Catholic. I was floored when I learned what communion meant. Yikes. I wasn't really reminded of it until last year when I was a moderator for a Catholic forum. Heh... talk about trippy. However, I was a good mod, I really was. If I tended to favor anyone it was the Catholics because it was their forum. I tried not to favor anyone but I'm not sure I always did that one well. Sometimes I just wasn't sure what to do. Regardless, it reminded me of how many rules there are for Catholics! OMZ I couldn't believe the rules. Can one marry outside on the church lawn or must it be in a church, which prayer to say at which ritual, the long and drawn out explanations for the most basic matters... I had forgotten. Can't say I miss the rules and regulations. I think that is the Catholic church downfall. People can buy into a lot of material but they don't do politics and rules well. Give them a place to worship their God but don't tell them in specific detail how to worship that God and what to say. They don't buy it. A long time ago (5 years?) here in AZ the Catholic church was pushing hard with TV advertisements and such for Catholics to come back to the church. It failed badly when it came out that the same guy that was asking people to come back to the church was arrested for covering up for pedophiles. While he was waiting that one out he ran over a dead body. Apparently someone ran over him first and the bishop ran him over again and didn't even stop, he just went home... I don't quite recall the details. I might have that one wrong. Anyway, the Catholics did not come back to the church. They left the church completely or went to other lines of belief. Perhaps if they would let the drama and politics go and just get to the basics people could do that one better. Each person feels a bit differently about their God and how to communicate with him and when they are told what to pray for, who to vote for, how to pray, what to say, when to say it... it chases people away, pure and simple. -
Big Ol' Hairy Religion vs. Athiest Debate
WASaBubbleButt replied to Titslereaux's topic in Rants & Raves
Well, lots of people have this debate. It really does come down to the same thing. If a God knows all before it is even done then prayers are not going to help. If by asking him to do you a little favor then he didn't know everything before it happened and he isn't much of a God. Thus, prayers cannot help or this God is not as claimed. We can like to think lots of things, that doesn't make them true. -
According to Lizrbit I work for them all, even in the US. However, I'm not the one starting threads to advertise a doctor. I don't pretend only my doc is good. Funny how that works. Wanna start on Huacuz? I think that would be fun. We could bring up lots of posts that tell the story. Want to go there?

I have seen those studies and I was never impressed with the methods they used. So God might change his plan for those involved based on your request? -
Wow... your doc ignored red streaks? That's classic cellulitis. ALWAYS pay attention to these things.

Are you saying that when you pray for something, emotional healing, anything... you are already aware it won't change anything? -

Big Ol' Hairy Religion vs. Athiest Debate
WASaBubbleButt replied to Titslereaux's topic in Rants & Raves
Even moreso, if my friend is dying, and this is part of God's plan (assuming he knows what will happen before it happens), is he going to change his entire plan for my friend, her entire destiny, HIS great plan for everyone involved because I prayed and asked him to? Wouldn't that mean he doesn't know everything before it happens? If he would change his mind based on my request, then it wasn't his plan to begin with. -

Love you post! Great words, I agree with much of it. I believe the phrase you are looking for in the 3rd paragraph is "Pascal's Wager." -

I know what you mean. It's almost like they are boasting in a weird sort of way. Next time just say, "Well, you know 20 pounds isn't THAT hard to lose, I did it plus some. Want some tips?" Heh...

Who is angry and who is pushing views on anyone? Nobody here, religious or otherwise is pushing anything. Just because someone is not a theist doesn't mean they are anti Christian. Just because someone lacks belief does not mean they are hateful. Just because someone lacks belief that does not mean they are pushing their views on anyone. Everyone is sharing their opinions and beliefs (or lack of), that doesn't mean everyone is big, bad, mean, or hateful. -
