Why are people afraid of atheism?

That is kind of a bizarre response. Perhaps you would care to respond to what I actually did write? I never claimed you scared me. So far you are pretty good at throwing around accusations such as children are not permitted to pray in school or that I claimed to fear you. What you don't seem to be as good at is responding to issues that actually are written. Cheers.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Your response is completely out of context. The issue is the ACLU and how they are persecuting xtians. They aren't. They are making sure everyone is playing by the same rules. THAT was the issue I was responding to. Agreed. Again, the issue was what have xtians typically been able to get away with that others have not. THAT is what *I* was responding to. Not sure what you are responding to. ??? Non xtians don't necessarily get better perks because xtian holidays are recognized by the US gov't. If I am scheduled to be off on a given day I am suddenly scheduled since I am not a xtian. With that said, I don't mind much. If I do get the day off I offer to trade with someone who is xtian so they can have the holiday off. I'd rather the gov't stop promoting xtian holidays but that's me.
  3. Someone posted here a month or two ago that if you go through Barbara and not Belite she will give you a price break but I do not recall what it was. A few hundred dollars? I don't remember. The person was claiming that is what they did. I'm not going by personal experience here.
  4. DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE.. And don't wanna do it again! DONE!!!!!!!!!! Not that I am happy about that or anything...
  5. Contact Barbara, his asst. If you go through her she can schedule you for surgery in Acuna and then Belite is apparently out of the picture. Something about if he does surgery in Acuna Belite is out of the picture. If he does surgery in Juarez then Belite is in the picture. Just contact Barbara, she can fix all of this.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

You'd have to give me more information on the ACLU case you refer to. Christian perks: National holidays such as Christmas and Easter, You are not excluded from running for public office in some states such as TX because you believe in a God and yes, that one is still on the books as of today, Your religion pushed for "In God We Trust" on our money, Your religion has been in our schools for many years until recently... matter of fact, it was forced upon children in schools through the 60s, In a court of law you do not have to affirm, thus letting the world know your religious (or lack of) views, The law supported your rights to force children from Indian Reservations and force them into "assimilation" schools so they too, could find God (can you imagine if the Atheists would have attempted that one?), People are still paroled today for "finding God" and you have to admit, not finding God is not appealing to the parole board and considering that the current estimates are that 13%+ of the US is atheist, less than 1% of the prison populations are atheist, You were permitted to change our pledge of allegiance in the 50s, You were permitted to own slaves based on biblical doctrines, Tax dollars were previously used to decorate federal buildings and land with Christian symbols, The worship of your God is tax deductable, Your churches pay no property taxes thus not contributing to the same funds as the rest of us, The costs you have to promote your religion and recruit new followers are tax deductable, For many years non Christians were not permitted to adopt children, and they prevented people that did not agree with your religion from adopting. Such as two same sex couples who are Christian. They still try, but they lost that battle in San Francisco recently, Your religion has prevented same sex couples from marrying and let's face it, the discrimination of gay folks isn't coming from the atheists, that one is to the credit of the Christians, In CO just a few years ago it was the Christians who pushed for, and obtained laws (that would later be overturned by higher courts) that prevented gay people from renting/buying homes and being protected in their employment settings (did I mention my sis is gay and lives in Denver?), Abortions were against the law due to Christian beliefs and not any other, And the list goes on. Those are just off the top of my head. Can you imagine if ANY atheist were to attempt any of the above what would happen? Nobody is saying your child can't pray in school, what they are saying is that it can't be led by a teacher and it cannot disrupt the learning process of other students. Is that really asking so much? Schools are free to provide space for children to pray their little hearts out if that is what they wish, they just can't force it on those children who do not want to participate. What in the world is wrong with that? Yet many Christians are in an uproar over this. And why, for goodness sakes? The only thing that is left is to force it on those children who do not share your religion. Can you imagine how atheists feel watching this one play out? Funny thing, I know several Christians. I can usually categorize them into 2 broad groups: 1) The Christian that does believe in God and does not belittle me for not doing so, or 2) The angry Christian that jeers me because I do not beleive in God (I've gotten comments that my lack of religion make me a devil worshiper, evil, without morality, and how can I take proven science over superstition). Atheists afraid of Christians? Damn right many are. We have traditionally lost jobs, we have even been murdered because we don't believe the right way. How many Christians do you suppose would vote for an atheist president even if they share the same views on politics as the atheist running for office? I'll bet you they'd vote for a democrat over an atheist they agree with. So when I hear this nonsense about Christians being persecuted, it makes me giggle. Christians have NO clue what they are talking about when they spout that stuff. Now that they are having to follow the same rules as they have forced us to do historically, they believe this is persecution. They have NO clue what persecution even means.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Nothing, that is why it is permitted. I don't agree. They are merely making Christians follow all the same rules as everyone else. Historically, this has not been the case.

    Research Diligence

The #1 most important issue to avoid costs and heartache down the road are to find a really good, skilled, and experienced surgeon. If you get a crappy surgeon you can go broke paying off medical bills that result from a botched surgery. #2) Do absolutely everything he tells you. Don't cheat on the pre op diet and don't justify why it is okay to cheat on the post op diet. #3) If you are really on board for this your chances are good, if your attitude is such that you are looking for a quick fix or if you think the band absorbs calories, I'd hold off completely. ;o) #4) Get it done. One concern I have is that it appears you are looking for cheap. You can certainly find cheap, no doubts there. Just remember, those that are the cheapest are cheap for a reason. If they could charge for skill and repuation, they would. I'm not saying expensive is better than average, but just remember, people who are cheap are cutting corners and banking on finding newbies that don't do their research and they are looking for cheap over skill. The cheapest will end up costing you a fortune down the road.

Help finding new doctor in Mexico

If you don't find anything from that list I have more lists I can check. Just PM me. Many doctors are getting much better about filling Mexican banded folks and the list grows daily.

Dr Daniel Huacuz He Is Inamed Certified

Right, and people right here, (DawnaT) told you that Huacuz sat there and said he has never had a complication with a patient when he was doing a FL seminar. According to you (and I agree) we should all cross Huacuz off any list for potential doctors. However, your doctor DOES disclose names. It was Catz that said she called about Adrienne and Dr. H told her what happened. Good thing for he and his coordinators that HIPAA laws do not apply to Mexico. However, the coordinators in the US posting her private info ... that might be a different story.

Dr Daniel Huacuz He Is Inamed Certified

People right on this very thread that have done exactly as you suggest have posted their experiences and after they post their experiences with Huacuz and how they almost died you come back and say Huacuz is the best doctor in the whole world. ???? You are correct, this patient cannot speak for himself, he is busy trying to survive what Huacuz did to him, as he has done to others. Agreed. However, if that was the case this time with Huacuz, he did the most difficult procedure out there for WLS. Duodenal Switch. If someone is high risk there are reasons for other procedures, one does not take a high risk patient and do a high risk procedure when other, less invasive procedures are available. Bypass is an example, if bypass is too risky due to patient complications, BMI, etc., they do it in two parts. First the sleeve portion and then after the patient has had time to lose weight and be far less risky then they go back in and complete the bypass portion. They don't jump in and do DS first. I agree with you that many times people are very high risk and if you don't do surgery they will eat themselves to death and surgery is their only shot at saving their life. But DS is not the safest procedure out there to begin with and certainly not for a high risk patient. So if this guy was high risk he should have never had DS and he probably shouldn't have gone to Huacuz, he should have gone to someone that can handle the difficult cases. Grace, this is *exactly* what your doctor has done in the past and you defend him by essentially saying that his business practices might be shady but his skills are up to par. Now you are suggesting they run the other way?

Huacuz strikes again... Update to Tijuana DS surgeon Needless to say, this one won't be his fault either. Three stomach leaks, spleen removal, and throw a little gangrene in there for good measure. Sad thing is, this guy may not survive to tell his story. It's all very sad. Naww.. never his fault.

    Arrogant Doctors

I've always thought it would be productive to give doctors the same tests they give their patients without batting an eye. Sometimes the tests are very necessary, but when they are only covering their butt for medical malpractice reasons and they know full well the patient doesn't need the torture, it's just wrong. They should be subjected to the very same things they do to their patients. Maybe we need to start intubating them and laughing at their bald shiny heads... think they'd get a clue?
  16. Wow... just think of what it would have been like had you gotten your surgery there and had some sort of problem. Spooky.

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...

I blame band advertising for a lot of that. I have seen the band infomercials on TV and it really does make it seem as though you just get a band, eat smaller portions and before you know it, you are thin again. That's just not realistic.

    Some people, I swear...

You know, Plain... this whole thread has gotten out of hand. It was out of hand in the very beginning. Your question has already been answered and I don't think I have the communication skills to explain it differently so perhaps it's time to drop this.

    Some people, I swear...

Nahhh, Pix... that's not going to work with me. I most certainly did not mock you. You do not have the education to make the determinations that you were and you were using your EMT experience to bolster your opinions. Not cool, and you know it. That is not mocking. You messed up, instead of taking responsibility for messing up and correcting your errors you try to redirect to make me the one that was in the wrong. I absolutely did not mock you, you do not have the education needed for this scenario as an EMT. Like it or not, it's true. This is not a matter of PC, this is a matter of facts. Unless you are claiming that you do have the education to make the diagnoses that you were of perforations, etc, then you are practicing medicine out of the scope of your practice. Instead of pulling the sympathy card (because you were called on incorrect information) why not respond to the issues that are at hand? Why not answer my questions? I'm really not interested in playing this game anymore. If you want to continue I'll really dig into your post and go into detail of how you are wrong or check the laws in your state to see what qualifications you have to make the determinations that the OP of that thread was lying (when he wasn't, not about the medical issues anyway). But is it really necessary? Your choice. Personally, I think the issue should be dropped.

    Some people, I swear...

The tubing did not come loose, that isn't what happened. The port was removed, the tubing should have been buried in the peritoneum, it does not appear that it was. The stoma is an enclosed system, the tubing did not find it's way to the stoma. It was the intestine. I don't know if there was bleeding or bruising before the port popped out or not, I didn't see it. Most likely it was merely oozing pus. I do have an unfill. It's completely unfilled. That's all I will say about it at this point. I most certainly did not mock anyone's EMT knowledge. I stated a fact. In this case the issues need more than EMT knowledge, that's all. There are times when issues need more than LPN knowledge, or RN, or BSN. The rest of my post needs no further discussion on my part, I stand behind what I have written.

bmi of 30 - will any surgeon help me?

Well, you did kinda say "healthy size" for a 30BMI. I think that when others of us are a larger BMI 30 doesn't seem all that bad anymore! ;o) But it is still considered obese and obese isn't healthy.

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...

Nope, I never really had reflux symptoms. It always shows up in some way or another on fluoro. Only time I really had symptoms is when I was barfing up acid but I had the flu and thought it was from coughing too much. I've been unfilled since then. Blooming onions... yummmmmmmmmmmm they are soooo good.
