Why are people afraid of atheism?

But I wasn't being sarcastic, I was dead serious. You brought it up, you wanted to discuss miracles, and then you bring a story of a guy that had a really bad accident, obtained medical care, and got better. That's not a miracle. Do you have a verifiable story of someone growing a new leg after a tractor accident? Honestly, no sarcasm intended. I'm looking for a true miracle.
  3. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Exactly. Show me a leg that grew back, or an arm that grew back. Show me something that cannot be explained by giving someone medical care and they got better. Some people are amazing fighters, the will to live is certainly there with some people. I mean, this guy that survived the fall, what about the person that falls off a chair, is barely hurt, and dies? They never had a will to live to begin with. I have yet to see a true miracle. It can always be explained.
  4. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

So the medical care he received had nothing to do with this? I'd have to see the medical records. I'm looking for not "stories" but things we can all study, right here on this thread.
  5. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Can you give me an example of a miracle that we can study and discuss?

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Until your last post, I meant what I wrote. You have been blaming me for everything written on this thread. So at the time I wrote it, I meant it.
  7. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

And then there are some (one) who picks a single poster and blames that person for every comment written in an entire thread. Where is the logic in that? Where is the ability to be civil, to handle an adult conversation? I have to tell you, I think Brandy is on to something with Maggie in your avatar.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

I most certainly am NOT saying that Christians are ignorant, irrational, or silly! Why in the world are you taking things others have written and attributing them to me? Not only are you taking some comments out of context, you are blaming ME for them and I didn't make the comments. I have not attacked you for your belief, no matter what anyone here writes you assume they are writing to you specifically. I have news for you, not only are you taking things out of context you are assuming you are the only poster here and every comment that is personal opinion is directly only at you. So no, you haven't been correct about anything since you started posting in this thread. You have managed to turn it into your own private pity pot while justifying 100 different ways why you should do that. People don't typically do any given behavior unless they are getting something out of it. What are you getting out of this? Is it the persecution complex? Sympathy? What the heck, you are targeting me for comments I never made. You know, we all throw a fit every now and again, that's how people are. I get that. I have let you blame me for every post written on this thread but now it comes to an end. I'm going to keep calling you on this each time you do it.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

No, that is not true. Christians are not being called overly sensitive YOU are being called overly sensitive and not because you are a Christian but because all we have to do is explain how WE feel about the belief and you take it as a personal slam. The rest... where would one even start?

Why are people afraid of atheism?

There is no way Gloucester is going to see what you are trying to convey. I'm telling you, it isn't going to ring true. Watch, you'll see. There is no forest there, the trees are in the way.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

You most certainly are being overly sensitive. If WE simply say we lack belief in your god you have turned that into something where we are insulting you personally. Get over it for goodness sakes. One does not choose to lack belief, one chooses to believe. There isn't a shred of proof your God exists yet you choose to believe in him anyway. I do not choose to believe in little blue fairies. It is what it is. If one does believe in little blue fairies against all science and logic, THEY choose to believe in little blue fairies. One does not "choose" to lack belief in something that does not have proof of existence, if there is no proof it exists and one believes anything, THAT is a choice. If we merely state our stance on this issue you have turned it into a huge pity party for yourself to the point that it is more of an insult for you to be called an idiot than us. You have tried to defend how childish name calling is more of an insult for you because you believe. Yet you have failed to accomplish this. You have managed to essentially say that it is more acceptable to call us idiots vs. yourself. You have put yourself above us when you do this and then you accuse us of putting ourselves above you. You have twisted, turned, and manipulated the entire conversation into a Christian persecution kind of issue and quite frankly, it isn't. We do not agree with you. So what? Who cares? Why is it a personal slam to you that we lack belief? Bottom line, there isn't a single bit of proof your God exists, if there was you wouldn't need faith, you'd have facts. Just because we do not believe the same as you does not mean we are insulting you. Taking things personally... again, it goes back to the post where you asked a general question. Does it make us angry when the insults start flying. I responded no, I'm used to it and I consider the source. You even took that as a slam against you. WTH? All in all, not too many people are buying your pity party here. I think this whole thing really does boil down to the fact that if we are honest about how WE feel about OUR lack of belief, YOU take that as a personal insult. People will continue to agree and disagree with you about a variety of topics in your life. If you choose to take it personally each and every time, you will find yourself battling the world for the rest of your days.

    I can't freak'en communicate! AAAHHH

Just a vent here, no real point. Last night I had a meeting with someone. His primary language is Spanish, not English however his English is better than most American born folks. Last night was the first time I have ever met the man. My speaking style is much different from my writing style. Writing has never been my forte. I accept that, no biggie. Most communication is in real time anyway. Kewl Beans. So I'm talking to this guy and trying to illustrate points and I was saying things such as: Kewl beans (yes, I use that in real time too and yes, I know) The point is beyond most (referring to obesity related issues that non fatties don't get) For Zog's sakes (hey, I'm not Christian) Not with the program (not keeping up with the latest) These aren't the best of examples, I can't think of details. But just visualize this conversation. Poor Mexican dude is looking at me knowing full well his English is primo yet he doesn't understand a word I am saying. He asked for clarification and I explain using a different colorful expression thinking that one explains what I am trying to say. He still doesn't get it. I explain again and suddenly my friend is laughing realizing I can't speak like a person. I realized, I speak in riddles. I am now remembering a time when I was speaking to our house physician at a care home I used to run. I was speaking to he and his student. Every bloody time I would open my mouth he would translate to the student. The student was born in the US and only speaks English, HE didn't even understand me. Okay, so there is always writing but if anyone knows my writing style that one is out too. DAMN COMMUNICATION! The hell with it.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Maybe a better way to say it is that I was looking for justification. Not that I need it really, but after the young earth thing I realized that too many times I read posts around here and hear the theme song to Twilight Zone running through my head and enough is enough. Personal opinion, but sometimes it is a waste of time to read posts that are kinda far out there. Time is limited in this life and reading bizarre posts means I never get those minutes back again. Unproductive minutes are wasted minutes. ;o)

Why are people afraid of atheism?

You know, Gidget, I've been looking for a reason to block you and this is as good as any. Would you be open to my comments if I wrote that we will welcome you with open arms if you want to join us in atheism? Tell you what, you pray for me, I'll think for you, then I'll block you because between the young earth routine, you lost all credibility with me. Today you lost my respect. I'll think for myself, thank you and good bye.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Idiot means the same regardless of personal belief. An insult is an insult, period. Your religion does not make you more feeling or caring about slams due to a belief or lack of belief. We have feelings too, this is a point many Christians forget when they start loving us.

    Extreme muscle weaknes, soreness, awful

Sorry you had to go through that. However, blood clots are a risk with any surgery. Did you receive Lovenox before surgery?

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Wait a minute.... It hits you harder BECAUSE you are a Christian when someone calls you an idiot? Yet it doesn't hit us as hard because we are atheist? Does the word have less meaning to one group vs. the other? I don't let it get to me because I'm used to it. People speak from a place of ignorance, for some that's all they have. And no, I am not referring to you.
  18. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

I think you are being overly sensitive. I was in no way referring to you. You asked if atheists are angry about the insults. I said I consider the source. How does that infer you?
  19. We agree. HIGH protein holds no value and can actually cause harm long term. I am not sure I could have had a protein shake in the beginning and been satisfied, not when I was dealing with head hunger issues, but I can do it now. It used to be I had to feel "full" and now I'm good to go at "not hungry". I don't disagree with low carb, to each his own and all that good stuff. Personally, I don't eat low carb, I eat no white carbs. But typically I have eaten all the veggie carbs I wanted within reason. Thing is, if you cut out all white carbs and eat unlimited veggie carbs, for the most part you are eating low carb in comparison to those that eat flour, rice, Pasta, etc.
  20. I just got the skinny on Lopez. When belite sells a surgery they are selling on behalf of the hospital, not Lopez. Belite contracts with the hospital and not the doctor so their client is the hospital. Lopez is the preferred doctor but if he is not available, if his schedule changes at the last minute, anything like that then the hospital will assign you a doctor. So you are in no way guaranteed to get Lopez if you go through that hospital. I called the hospital, they are the folks that explained this. There is no way I'd agree to go all the way to Mexico to have surgery by a surgeon I *thought* I scheduled with just so that I could be "assigned" a new doctor. Not a chance. Seriously, I'd keep looking if I were you.
  21. WASaBubbleButt

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Nope, not angry. I do get frustrated with ignorance sometimes (many believe if we don't worship a god we must eat babies or something) but overall I'm used to it. It doesn't bother me anymore like it used to. Now I just consider the source.
  22. I agree with the quantity of protein you list but protein shakes work quite well for some. If it doesn't work for you, kewl Beans. But I love them! It's easy to grab a Protein shake when I'm in a hurry. I don't always have the time to chew the bandster way and when I don't want to deal with it, I use a shake in place of a meal.
  23. What do you consider "massive" to mean in the number of grams of protein consumed daily?
  24. My personal opinion? I'd keep looking. At least don't send your deposit until the last minute. No doctor is going to cancel your appt because you didn't mail the deposit this early. If they do, they just don't want you having time to think it through some more. You'll feel locked in after paying your deposit. So sit tight and keep researching. It's not that Dr. Lopez is bad, it's that many are claiming he isn't the actual surgeon. He has residents do your surgery. I'm still working on verifying this claim. Thing is, I keep hearing that claim over and over again and so I want to try and verify it. There is a learning curve to banding and you don't want to be a part of the learning curve. It's a fact that newbie surgeons have more complications such as slips and erosion. He is not the most well respected surgeon in the world of bariatrics, there are some ethical issues at the very least.
  25. Not really, in one case it is voluntary payments to purchase health insurance and in the other it is taken from us without our approval so OTHERS are covered for the same procedures many of us are not covered. Not the same, not the same at all.
