    Would You Do It Again?

I wish I had done it when I was 35 instead of 45. The "dieting" part really doesn't bother me at all. I like eating healthy so I don't consider it a diet. A good rule I follow is, if what I'm eating comes out of a wrapper that makes a crinkle sound I don't eat it, ie, little debbie's, Cheeto-o's, Taco Bell. I don't worry about sugars and carbs in fruit. I figure I need the Vitamins. I'm on a plateau now and it's frustrating at times not seeing the scale move but I know I'm doing good because the clothes are getting looser and looser.

    Texas Support??? Banded 6-12-12

I'm in San Antonio. The gas post op pain is akin to feeling like you just woke up and you did 100 sit ups the day before. If you have a lap dog, apologize before surgery because Fido won't have his spot for a few days. (me, my lap dog weighs 80lbs, she looked so sad). After day 3 it started to get better. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went to work Sunday. I'm a engineer on the railroad so the rocking back and forth on the train 4 days post op wasn't bad. 9 months has passed and I forget I have the band.

    When To Introduce Fruits?

I eat any and all fruits. However, I've doin some fruits go down easier than others. I have to make sure they are very well chewed before swallowing though. Pineapple I have to literally nibble on. If I try to eat a regular bite and chew well it still doesn't want to go down.
  4. I was banded 9-20-11. For the first couple Of months I was very well aware that I've been banded. Just the idea of it there was my drive to succeed at this. Now, most of the time I forget I even have it. When I go Out to eat it is just natural to order healthier foods and foods of smaller portions. Like everything else this is a roller coaster. Some days it's a uphill struggle and other days it's a down hill breeze. You've made the decision to change your life and everyday achieve your goal for the day.

    Calorie Intake

I eat round 1,000 a day. 80 grams of Protein, 60 grams of carbs and 20 grams of fat. Some days I'll splurge and eat a avocado and that'll kick the calorie count to about 1300.

    Im Scared

You will look back and say why didn't I do this years ago. When you go to Italy you'll be able to eat whatever, just not as much. LB is a life changer that's for sure. You'll have all the energy and drive to do what you've been wanting to do your whole life. Make a bucket list of all the activities you've wanted to do and guess what??? Within a year or even less you can physically do them All.

    Favorite Exercise? :)

P90X is a combo of weights and cardio. I'm sure you've seen the infomercials. There are a ton of videos on YouTube you could check out. Spin, is a class I do at the gym. It's a stationary bike that you simulate a bike ride usually on a mountain. You use resistance to increase your heart rate. I wear a heart monitor/calorie counter. I've burned as much as 1900 calories in that hour long class. P90X I usually burn about 1200. Both are intense but you do what you can and forget the rest. As you lose weight you'll notice your abilities will increase and that's alwaysba rush.

    Favorite Exercise? :)

I'm a P90X and a Spin Class guy. They are both designed to "do what you can do" and with consistency you'll do more.
  9. 1. The Tough Mudder event. That's in October 2. Hang out at a beach/pool without peoplwnwishingnidnput a shirt on. 3. Go on a elk hunt in the Rockies 4. Run a marathon, well at least a half marathon. 5. Be a mentor to those that need help in this journey. None of these in any particularmordernexcept #1. That date is set.

    San Antonio

I'm in San Antonio. Banded 9-20-11. 80lbs down
  11. 100 pounds in 6 months is a lofty goal. I lost 70 in 6 months and that time just flew by. Like the other poster wrote 800 calories isn't enough to maintain. 1,000-1,200 is realistic. You need to eat the good foods to provide energy for exercise. A good neutrino plan with a work out plan and everything will fall into place.

    Motivation

This is a good start, you are reaching out. It's good to find other people that have been banded. Also, a good exercise routine is vital. It's best to have a workout buddy. When working out, don't do what others do in the gym, lift a set of weights and then wait around. Keeping a high heart rate while working out is vital to your goals. I use P90X mostly because I travel with my job and a gym isn't always available.

    ? For Spinners

There is a spin class video on YouTube you can use to get you started. It's I hour long but it's the cheapest way to go. As a friend posted on my facebook. Spin class is a hour long masochist hell but you burn calories. I've burned as many as 1800 calories in a hour in a Spin Class.

    Anyone Doing Or Did Insanity....

I'm doing P90X right now. I'm in my 7th week of it. I can't say I've lost weight but I've altered my eating and lost 4 pounds last week. I can tell you my wife thinks my legs are toned and show muscle definition. If you tell people you are doin insanity they'll be very impressed at your dedication to excersise. Knock it out an do the work and the results will AMAZE you.

    Couch To 5K

You can do it!!!!! This is you WOW!!! Moment in your journey to weight loss. Who cares if you don't "run" the 5k is the determination of you getting out there and doing it in the first place. I applaud you in you ambition to try. I signed up for a tough Mudder event in October. This is a 12 mile 29 obstacle event. I don't care if I run all 12 miles, I just want to finish. Keep up the work and everything else will take care of itself.
  16. By the way, they charged my insurance $63,000.
  17. Gee, we are on the same boat. I'm thinking about goin over to the Lido deck for a little R&R. Seriously, I've given up on the scale for the time being. I'm doing my P90X and go to the gym for additional work too. The clothes I buy are smaller each time I buy and tighter fitting too. So, it's all good.
  18. Try mixing your protein with milk. Allow it to sit in fridge for 30 minutes to a hour. It'll thicken up and taste better.

    Scheduled 6/12/12

Just hang in there. It kinda feels like you've done 1,000 sit-ups. As each day goes by it eases up. If you have a lap dog, say, I'm sorry before the surgery. Lol lol.
