Day 2 pre op starving
TexasJeff replied to misscarrie36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aeromech, you should have gone to dr Cavasos in San Antonio. -
IF you are thinking about Lap Band in the San Antonio area I strongly recommend Dr. Ramiro "Sonny" Cavasos with the Texas Bariatric. The professionalism of his office is OUTSTANDING! The surgery went without a hitch. His staff isn't a staff, they are friends. When I call the office more times than not they know who I am before I tell them. The flexibility with my appointments is beyond words. Sometimes I forget I have the band. People have told me they love food to much to have the surgery. I tell them my appreciation for food has grown more. With having to eat slower and chew you develop a appreciaction for the food and actually taste the food more. I know some at work that just can't eat certain foods. I've not had this problem as long as I remember to go slow and chew, chew and chew. Living in San Antonio Mexican foodnis everywhere as you can imagine. I used to order 6-8 tacos, rice and Beans. Now, I only order 1 and savor the complex taste as I eat. I'm down 102 pounds from my highest weight and the next 30 will be a breeze. It was difficult to start the exercise program but once the first 50 pounds melted away, I'm now a gym rat. Thank you for reading, God Bless and keepmup the good work.

Hey Slim or Flaco, I too work a blue collar job where one day I work with Bubba and the next Billy Joe Jim Bob. At first it was my secret I wanted to keep to myself. Then the weight just started to melt off and the guys were telling me I must be sick and I need to see the doctor. I decided that for their sake, I had to tell them I e already seen the doctor. Long story short 5 guys and 2 wives have had the surgery and all have gotten off all their meds. I get questioned all the time by they guys at work.

My Doctor did not require the 2 week pre-op diet. Seems extreme to me. -
How do you prepare tuna?

Jalapeño, Dee!!!! Then that's a poor mans Ceciche. I know what I'm having tomorrow. Thanks for the idea. -
I use Pure Protein vanilla. 16 oz unsweetened Almond Milk 2 scoops and a handful of whatever berries are on sale a couple ice cubes and a blender. Good stuff. Also, adding a banana and a tablespoon of sugar free vanilla pudding. Mmmm filling.

If you have to do a "Hard Extraction" often, that's a sign that you are eating to fast or taking bites that are to big or your band is to tight.

When I get stuck and I take sips it hurts more and it comes back up. When I have that stuck feeling I excuse myself and go to the restroom and cough up what is stuck.

If the employees at Goodwill don't know you on a first name basis by the end if month 3, you are either, not working the program, a extreme introvert or have money to burn money. Lol lol.

Here in Texas. We have to wait a couple of weeks to get your license in the mail. I saw my picture and really didn't know they guy on the old license. What prompted me to get a new license was I was stopped by a policeman because he didn't see my registration sticker on my truck. (It was there). Anyways, I have the policeman my license and he couldn't believe that was me on my license. So, I had to show him my federal license from work to prove it was me.

Any citrus, no matter how much I chew, it comes back up. I hat that because I know I need the Vitamin C Daily I try to eat the "right and healthy" foods for health and nutrition. I can eat any meats as long as its small bites and I chew, chew, chew. However, if its meat that is re-heated, OH BOY, it gets stuck. I work a job when I leave I'm usually gone 48+ hours. Sometimes this is a real challenge when it comes to packing food for my trip. 18 months out of surgery I pack 2 yogurts, 2 Protein shakes, 2 cups of tuna, 2 cans of Progresso Light Soup, some raw veggies, 2-4 sticks of cheese, a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, some roasted chicken or grilled tilapia. I rarely eat all of this food but I would rather have it than not and have to rely on fast food.

Better yet, I want a brand new MEMBERS ONLY. Jacket. Now, where did I park me De Lorean?? I need to blow the jets out. It's been sometime since I've got it up to 88mph.

I was sitting in a hospital lobby this morning while my wife was resting in her room. (She had major back surgery Tuesday.) Anyways, knowing this hospital does WLS I was looking for patients that was about to go through their surgery. I just wanted to encourage them. I found a lady, a morbidly obese lady, whose daughter that was having difficulty swallowing after gastric by-pass. I told her I had a lap band. Now here is the sad part. That's when she told me that she had a lap band BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I wanted to scream at her, WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT DIDN'T WORK!!!! So, I start questioning her. Why it didn't work?? I asked her, did you exercise?? NO, my knees hurt to much Did you stop eating greasy, high carb foods??? NO Did you go to your doctor for follow ups/fills?? NO I told her the lapband worked, you didn't do the work. You didn't use the tool.

I guess I was very fortunate. Other than throwing up occasionally I've had no problems. I eat on a small plate, drink my Water and hit the gym 3-4 times a week. I wish I could hit the gym more but I'm home 1 day out of town 2 days with work.
-
Couldn't agree more with y'all.
-
It was her daughter that had the by pass. And believe me I was not mean spirited. I said it the same way all of our doctors told us. You have to do the work. I did not hurt her feelings but I did give her something's to think about.
-
She was nice, she said it was just to hard to do the work. My thoughts were, it's going to be hard work when you lose a foot to diabetes. Or go blind it have the heart attack. But I guess it's easy when you die and just lay in a coffin. A sad story.
