I havn't traveled on a plane but I have traveled long distances on the road with my hubby. I pack my food....yogurts; protein bars; several different organic snacks. Altho we do make pit stops at fast food places, I may take a bite or two of his meal or I order a kids meals but have never been able to finish one.

Did You Name Your Sleeve?
samsmom replied to LawDiva312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby & I were just discussing this....we came up with "Dino" (deee-no) for the dinosaur noises that my stomach seems to make at the most inopportune times! LoL!! -

First Day Back To Work.
samsmom replied to brookeco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in hospital for a week, then home for a week before I went back to work. I have a sedentary desk job where I sit throughout much of the day. But even with my job, I felt that I went back too soon. I was exhausted halfway thru my day. I know everyone is different tho, and im glad you made it thru your day ok. -
After surgery, I went thru a phase of trying every bottled water out there. Even the flavored ones had an after-taste. Then my daughter had me try SmartWater....the best water ever! Clear, crisp tasting water. The only other water I can tolerate is WholeFoods 365 brand of Electrolyte Enhanced Water (same as SmartWater). Give one/both of those a try!

I agree with isajck...search this site for blurry vision. I am one who suffers from it and have made several posts about my vision. When I asked my NUT about it, she never really gave me an explanation, just that it does happen to some people. My eyesight is def worse than before surgery....ugh!

Photo Update 1 Month Post Op!
samsmom replied to jessfharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, there's def a difference Jess! You are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your pics. Good Luck on your continued journey. -
Congrats! Good Job!! I was same size...26 before surgery, then after a month or so....down to 22! I had to go get new pants cuz mine kept falling down. I have since learned to buy pants with tie-string waists since i keep losing inches on my waist. Also shopped at "vintage" stores (aka...Goodwill) because my budget didn't/doesn't allow me to keep shopping for new clothes everytime I drop a size...almost became addicted to shopping just bcuz of the excitement of wearing a smaller size. Im 9 mo's out now (size 18-20)...imma a slow loser...but still losing! Best of luck on your continued journey!

I was told to Stop taking my b/p pill the day I left the hospital. Doctor said she was afraid it would dehydrate me and besides, my b/p was good the whole week i was in hospital. Im 9 mo's out and doing ok without the b/p med! Woot Woot!!

Feeling Hungary More Often
samsmom replied to katrina81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember being hungry every 2-3 hours beginning when I was about 1 month out. I asked my NUT about it and she said it was ok to eat smaller meals every 2-3 hours; I wouldn't be hurting anything cause my stomach can only hold so much before i felt extremely full anyways. Seemed like that was a phase that lasted about a month or so for me...it does pass. -
Constipated What Do You Take
samsmom replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took Senokot (stool softener), after 1 week out, with as much Water as I could tolerate (which wasn't much post op). Doctor approved me taking it. I still find the need to take it every so often, even though I am 9 months out I am interested in this Chia Seed plan. Could someone please elaborate more about them (what they are & what they do) and also let me know where I can purchase them. Many thanks! -
Getting Drainage Tube Removed
samsmom replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on your pain threshold! Keep a positive outlook. Good luck to ya! Mine hurt so bad when it was in that I felt the removal had got to be 100+ times better. Nurse told me to take a deep breath and hold as long as i could...removal lasted less than a minute. Did feel like something crawling across my belly but.....oh, what a relief! Hallelujah!!! This was a huge source of a lot of my pain and why I had to stay several extra days in the hospital! -
Has Anyone Had A Bad Experiece After Surgery
samsmom replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My complications were from the gas and extreme pain/problems with the drainage tube. I stayed in the hospital for a week. I was supposed to be confined to bed but was determined to do the walking and get myself home. I have no regrets....never did...I knew that the pain and minor complications would subside and I would be on the path to better health! Good Luck to you....my hubby was very concerned as well....so tell your spouse that's a normal feeling. -
Tommorrow Is My 2 Week Follow Up
samsmom replied to LessofKelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a followup appt until 1 mo post surgery. They weighed me then I met with the NUT first, got to ask any questions re: food/drink (and I had many questions!) & she loaded me up with samples. I then met with my surgeon...she looked at incisions, answered several questions and discussed surgery; she also had to remove several stitches that were still hanging around. That was about it for me! Good luck...how much have you lost? -
I would guess that she may have some underlying jealousy issues with your surgery? If this person had your best interest in mind, then she would have been supportive to you at this point. This is what this site is all about. We are all here for each other and there is always someone on this forum who can answer any question(s) you ask. Don't even bother yourself with trying to get advice from that person. Just laugh it off that you know a secret about them that they don't know you know...lol!

Are Any Of You Stii Using Your Cpap?
samsmom replied to beefalogal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used my cpap in the hospital immediately after surgery and during my weeklong stay. I've continued to use it at home as well (im 9 mo's out). My family doctor mentioned to me that I can get retested and may be able to get off it or at least have my settings lowered, but really....im attached to my machine.... not interested in giving it or the settings up yet! For restless nites, I take a sip of Nyquil or its generic equivalent to help me sleep. -
