I'm just starting the process, anyone near Santa Cruz or Santa Clara? I will be going through Kaiser Santa Clara and would appreciate some local support. Kate

So here I sit in a hotel room in South San Francisco. I have to be at Kaiser South San Francisco tomorrow morning at 6:15am with my surgery at 8am. Can you tell how many thoughts are racing through my head right now? I just want it to be done.

Apprehensive . . . Sorry, Long And Rambling
Cholula posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm being sleeved the day after tomorrow ( the day before Thanksgiving). I started out between 255 and 260, woke up today to 194.9, so I'm wondering why I need surgery? That said, I'm thinking long term. I've lost before only to put it all back on again. Since I started this journey back in June, I've felt strong and committed to the process of regaining my health, and I still feel very capable. But that long term thing hangs in my mind. I can't begin to count the number of times I've felt sure I had this food thing down, only to go back to mindless eating. That is what keeps me wanting the surgery. Now, though, it's a mere two days away and my mind is spinning out of control. All opinions welcome, I'm feeling conflicted. -

I'm being sleeved the day after tomorrow ( the day before Thanksgiving) and boy can I relate to the roller coaster. I started out between 255 and 260, woke up today to 194.9, so I'm wondering why I need surgery? That said, I'm thinking long term. I've lost before only to put it all back on again. -

Any South San Francisco Kaiser Sleevers
Cholula replied to cher's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yesterday was my last meeting with my surgeon (Dr. Robert Li, head of bariatrics, yippee!). I also had the last of my tests and the pre-op class. Lots of info, the best news being that Kaiser will pay for a hotel for us for the night before the surgery! This will be so much better than having to drive over an hour to be there in the morning! They also gave me two bags full of sample Vitamins and a 4 time a day one week pill keeper/reminder. Hopefully by this time next week, I will be sleeved! -
Any South San Francisco Kaiser Sleevers

I'll be going in to Kaiser in South San Francisco on November 21 with Dr Robert Li. Excited, scared, lots of emotions. I go in for my final pre-ops next Tuesday. -
I'm scheduled and ready to go, but can't seem to get back on track. I started at 255.1 now 199.7 (just barely in Onderland) and I seem to want to graze. All day. This hasn't been a problem till I got my surgery date. I'm holding on by eating tons of yogurt, but still, I know I'm eating too much. Is it nerves? I wonder. I'm just trying to stay under 200 for my surgery. I wish it was tomorrow! Katekakk

I'm with Kaiser in South San Francisco. They didn't require that I lose that much weight, I just figured it was better to get a head start on the whole thing. My very first orientation was on June 13, 2012. After going to all the classes and such, it went pretty quick. I had an appointment with the psychologist and one surgeon on Aug 17 and could have booked then but I just wasn't crazy about the surgeon, so I asked for another one. I had that appointment on Oct 16 and his first opening was November 21, so that's when I'll be sleeved!

Poll: Talkin 'bout Your Generation!
Cholula replied to OneManWolfpack's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Another baby boomer, 1948. Grew up in the Bay Area, Mickey Mouse Club, Bonanza, Ed Sullivan. Music was definitely the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane and all the San Francisco sound. Lived in the Haight and Big Sur, then settled down, still in the Bay Area. Happily retired at 55 when my husband and I took off for 5 years in a motor home. Loved New Mexico, Utah, the whole southwest. Now back in the Bay Area, readying the house for sale and readying my body for the remainder of my great life with surgery scheduled for November 21. Looking forward to going on the road again as a healthier person, able to do so many things I couldn't last time. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Kate -
Hooray. I started exploring the VS on June 13, 2012, starting weight 255.1 I'm with Kaiser and have been attending classes and doing all my pre-op at the South San Francisco facility. As soon as I realized how much my contribution would mean to my success, I started exercising and using Lose It! to track my food. I was unsure for a while but am now committed to the VS process and will have the surgery on November 21. I'm working hard to get ready, and this morning I finally hit 198.6 I've been hoping to get under 200 for my surgery, so I'm a happy camper! Excited, scared, and can hardly wait for the surgery. I've lost weight before (never this much) but I'm confident the sleeve is exactly what I need to finally succeed. Kate

I belong to a gym also, where I swim for an hour a couple times a week, walk the treadmill for 35-45 minutes then weight train for 30 minutes also a couple of times a week. I also ride my bike for 5-10 miles a few days a week, then usually take one day off. I think the exercise has really helped with my weight loss.

I would love to be 130, but will be happy at 145-150. I'm 5"4' and 64 years old. Kate

Syntrax Nectar Question!

I love the fuzzy nectar in unflavored yogurt. It takes a minute to mix up, but comes out nice and smooth. The strawberry mousse is also really good -

Any Bay Area California Sleevers?
Cholula replied to Cholula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Gosh, I started this thread some time ago, then have been going back and forth about the surgery. I started my whole journey with the sleeve on June 13 at 255.1, today, 199.6 with a surgery date of November 21 with Dr Robert Li in South San Francisco. I'm in Santa Cruz and would love to talk to other local sleevers, so please get in touch. Nana in Watsonville, I can't see to private message you, but please let's get together, as well as anyone else on this side of the hill Kate -
I'd like to be below 195 for my surgery Kate

Talked with my GP this week and we both agreed this is the way to go. I'm with Kaiser in Santa Clara and will attend the first orientation/class this Tues (June 12). I'm excited, nervous, will I be accepted in to the program, will this finally be the answer to my weight problems? I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has gone through the process at Kaiser Santa Clara. I'm 64 years old, retired and presently 255 pounds, 5 feet five. My husband is very supportive of the decision. I guess I just need a little input from those who have already gone through the procedure. Kate
