Is it a bad idea to color your hair post surgery?

Coloring Your Hair
buckeyefan1985 replied to buckeyefan1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks to everyone who responded. I felt like I was in no mans land about getting my hair colored. I'm not getting sleeved until the end of this month and I do need to get my hair cut and colored. I will try to wait another week or so before I have both done. I usually get it done about every 6-7 weeks. Waiting will put me at 8 weeks. I am extremely happy to know that coloring my hair won't be problem post op. -

Thanks for the suggestion about alternating with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I'll keep that in mind. -

Thanks DonRodolfo and Isereno. I guess I'm going to buy it since it is about $60 for a 4.5 pound tub which I thought was a good deal. I'm going to be on a 2 week pre-op diet and then 4 weeks liquid post-op diet. I figure if I get tired of it when I first start out I can move it to the back of the shelf for a while and try something different for a bit. I know many people say their likes/dislikes change post surgery, so it won't hurt to have a rarity in the house. -

Dr Trace Curry- Cincinnati, OH
buckeyefan1985 replied to ambervsg2013's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I met Dr Curry at his seminar and then again at my initial appointment to get things rolling. I thought I was going to do the band with him. He told me I could do that or the sleeve. I didn't t feel like I was anything more to him than just another pay day. He left me feeling cold. That was about a year ago. I am now scheduled for my sleeve surgery on July 31 with Dr Brad Watkins. He is so different from Dr Curry. I felt like he cared about me as a person and a patient. If you haven't gone to Dr Watkins seminar or for that matter any other seminar, you should. There is a difference. Good luck with whichever doctor you choose. -

July sleevers! Are we ready!
buckeyefan1985 replied to shannyd4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope I get to join the July sleevers.. Insurance approval confirmed, just waiting for the surgeon to call with my surgery date. I still need to buy all my stuff...vitamins, protein drinks and powder. I didn't want to buy anything before I got the insurance company's approval. I was afraid I would jinx myself. I'm sure my surgery won't be until at least the end of the month since I will be on a 2 week pre-surgery diet. I'm excited, but nervous. I just want to get going on this new stage of my life. -
Ok, I sure hope I can eat it early in this new new me.

What stage is watermelon in? Liquid or puréed? My doctor has his patients at each stage for a month at a time. I'm hoping it will be ok in the liquid stage if I put in my vitamix. I just got my approval for surgery, now waiting for the doctor's office to call with my date.

What to look for in protein drinks?
buckeyefan1985 posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There are so many protein drink choices how do I know which ones to buy. Everyone talks about Isopur and Unjury, but are there less expensive choices? What should I look for when I go to buy? Obviously the protein amount is one thing I should look at, but what else? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. -

How much more do I need to do before surgery is scheduled?
buckeyefan1985 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just trying to figure out how much more I will need to do before my surgery can be scheduled. I have had my 3 months of doctor supervised diet. I met with both the nutritionist and psychologist. I think I will need to have a consult with the exercise person. Other than having a pre-surgery physical, are there any other types of doctor appointments I will need? Thanks in advance. -

Thanks Shoopaie and Swimmom. I already have a cpap machine since I was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago. I have been reading these forums, read many articles about the vsg, and talked with multiple people about their wls. I have tracked my calories for the past 2 months to prepare for both the pre-op diet and life after wls. In addition, I have started not drinking before, during, and after meals to practice how I need to work with my sleeve. I also have been tracking my exercise. I know this will be a marathon not a sprint regarding my weight loss. I feel very fortunate that my mother, who lives with me, is very supportive. In fact, my mother who is not a candidate for wls,is going to start her own weight loss journey at the same time. We will be each other's cheerleader. -
Hi, I've looked but didn't see anything on this topic. Actually this is embarrassing,, but here goes. I expect to have thinning hair and/or hair loss. I unfortunately have facial hair (you know, the extra hair above the lip). Will I also have thinning and/or hair loss here? What about re growth? Thanks in advance. Beth

Anyone have their sleeve done in Cincinnati
buckeyefan1985 replied to buckeyefan1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Jenn, What made you decide on Dr Watkin? Are you on your pre-op diet? What does Dr Watkin want you to have for food during this time? Is his pre-op diet 2 weeks? I still have 1 more supervised consult with my family doctor. I met with Tonya for my psych visit and go for my NUT counseling first week of June. Good luck with your surgery. You must be really excited.
