Woohoo! Gastric sleeve surgery 5-18-12. From a size 30 jeans and size 30/32 top to a size 8 jeans & size MD top. From 338 to 181. When I put the 8's on, and they fastened , I seriously sat in the fitting room floor and cried! The sleeve is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I would beg anyone who is struggling with their weight, do not wait, do it for YOU! Kristie

It's been pretty bad. I had 2 c sections & I would say the pain was 10 times worse. But I stopped the pain meds a week after surgery. I was feeling a lot better but then I seem to have had a minor setback. Not feeling as good as I was but I've had a complication with one of my incisions. The skin is dying & now it's infected. I'm sure it will get better but I think that's why I am feeling run down.

Thanks y'all. I think we can all get here. I have struggled & stalled multiple times and I made it. It is strange tho, I never had a goal size. Only a goal weight (160). I probably would be happier now if I'd have picked the size first. Lol.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
KristieAtkinson replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi y'all. I've been lurking for a while & I am joining the 5:2. I am 13 months out. Approximately 22 pounds from goal. I was stuck from January to May when I had my corset trunkplasty. I dropped almost 20 pounds after surgery (he removed 12 pounds) & I am still holding probably 3-4 pounds of swelling. The last week I am back to not losing weight so I want to try this & see if it keeps things moving. I will be doing fast days on Mondays and Wednesdays. I really want to get to goal. Kristie -

Thank you! Yes I am still healing. If I had to guess I'm holding 3-4 pounds of swelling still.

I had a corset trunkplasty which is all of the skin from below the breasts down to the hips. It also includes tummy tuck muscle tightening. I had a lot of skin (12 pounds on my belly alone!) Since I've been big for over 15 years. At my highest weight I was 358 pounds.

I use the phone app too. I'm 5'7.

Thanks so much! I'm starting to feel even better about my progress.

How Long After Surgery Did You Take Pain Meds For?
KristieAtkinson replied to OilSooner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home with liquid lortab after my surgery. I took it for one day & weaned myself off. I had two c sections so the pain from the sleeve was minimal compared to those. I think this is a personal decision based on your personal pain tolerance. But don't be a hero. If you need it, ask for it. Hope you feel better soon. -
Thank you! It was rough but I am starting to get better.

I had a corset trunkplasty 2 weeks ago because I lost over 150 pounds & needed skin removed from the upper, middle & lower stomach. Its a more extensive scar than the tummy tuck scar. (It goes under both breasts, straight down my belly & hip to hip) However the super tiny scars from my sleeve and 1/2 my stretch marks are now gone. Lol.

Mine lasted from about month 4 to between 9 and 10. I was getting all of my Protein, taking all my Vitamins, and was taking Biotin from my pre op diet on. I tried nioxin, fight fall shampoo & everything else that has been suggested. Nothing worked. And my hair was thin to start with. It just stopped on it's own. I now have tons of little baby hairs at the roots. I wish I had better advice. I can tell you the 155 pounds I've lost is well worth the hair loss.

Compression gear
KristieAtkinson replied to Huntingnurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Not that I'm aware of & I'm quite sure Under Armour would have mentioned that to me. I trained their product for 13 years. But I love it & I'm so glad I can wear it now. -
Compression gear
KristieAtkinson replied to Huntingnurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I used to sell Under Armour. Its purpose is to wick moisture and compression. The benefit of compression is that it compresses the muscles & restricts blood flow to the muscle covered by the garment. This helps reduce muscle fatigue. I don't know that compression garments help with excess skin other than it holds it all in. -
Mayday mayday mayday! :-)

Thank you! I am getting a little bit better every day. Since I had the surgery I'm down 15 pounds (he removed 12 pounds of skin). I had my surgery in Lexington Ky. I'm just not comfortable going to Mexico for something so major. Kristie -
A whale of a tale...
KristieAtkinson replied to khorne's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on making this decision. What would you like to know? -
5-18-13 & it had been exactly one year since I had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy. At my highest weight, I was 358, at the start of my pre-op diet, I was 338, on the day of surgery, I was 288. Today, I'm 193 pounds. (I'm 5'7) From a size 30 jeans, 30/32 tops to a MD top, & size 12 jeans. May 28th I will have my corset Trunkplasty to remove my excess stomach skin. My surgeon estimated 15-18 pounds of skin & from a 12 to an 8. Mentally, I struggle everyday because I feel like I should be smaller. But I've been exercising HARD since my 6 month pre-op diet, following my surgeons plan to a T. Not much else I could've done. I just have to love myself & where I am, but I'm going to keep on pushing towards my goal! Kristie
