    Unfill or ride it out?

Thanks mbanja and faithmd, I got an unfill of .5 today and it made all the difference. I don't think i realised how tight i was until he took that little bit out. Gee it felt so nice to actually drink!!!
  4. Hey there guys, just had another fill today and he decided to be a little agressive as I still havent lost any weight after 9 months. Put another 1ml in making total of 6.5ml, got home and cant even drink Water. Tried to drink warm tea and had really bad pains like something was stuck then it came back up again. He said to come back if I needed adjustment (he is only in town today and tomorrow) but I know from experience that my last fill (which was not this tight) wore off after a couple of weeks. Do you think I should go back or will it settle down as the hours go on? Thanks
  5. Hi there, I was banded in Feb 07 and have had a total of 5 fills so far up to 6.5ml now and have not lost a single bloody thing (except for my patience!!). The thing is I know that my band is tight because i have trouble eating most food. I spend almost the whole day starving trying to eat something and make it go down (which most of the time I am unsuccessful at!). I am very discouraged and sick of being hungry all the time BUT, I am still not losing any weight. I am definately eating alot less than I used to. I get really sad at mealtimes as when i cook for my family i can't eat any of it, most of the time i just mash up some vegies for my tea so i havent been eating much meat (in fact probably none). I am really struggling not having food as my crutch and I would probably be able to cope with it a bit more if i was losing but it has now been 8 months without even a kilo! ARRGGHH, please give me some encourgement, I am not coping with this anymore :pout::pout::pout:
  6. Hi there, I had my 4th fill on Friday and finally have got restriction. BUT, I cannot eat in the morning (can drink but that is it), maybe eat less than half a cup at lunch and at tea can probably manage the same. I am not snacking between meals as i just don't feel hungry. 1. If I overeat will I vomit it back up again? 2. Is the above food intake normal for a band at restriction? (I can still have liqueds). 3. Will the restriction ease off at all with time or weight loss? Thanks everyone, i suppose i just want to know that what i am experiencing is normal. I didnt have much restriction at all before the fill so it has been a bit of a shock  (and i am sooooo missing food). I have had a bit of a hard time finding out the the things i was eating before my fill just won't go down anymore, but i suppose that it something that every bandster goes through? Thanks again.
  7. Hi there, I was banded in Feb 2007, have had 3 fills so far up to 5.5ml (and have lost absolutely NOTHING!!!!). Last time Dr put 2 mls in, he had to take 1ml out because Water wasn't going through. BUT, it stills seems to have made no difference at all. In fact I reckon that I have actually put more weight on!! I have noticed some difference in portion sizes but can still easily eat a dinner plate full of food. I have another appt for a fill this Friday and am just wondering if I should ask for the 1ml back? Dr seemed to think that when he took that 1ml out at last fill it would mean that I had got to "sweet spot" of restriction but I have been sorely disappointed. Can 1ml really mean make/break of restriction?
  8. Had my third fill on Saturday, at first doc put in 2ml as I have lost absolutely nothing (in fact gained 2 kg!!). Drank some Water but did no go through, just sat there so he took out 1ml, water went through OK. Rest of the day was spent trying to eat something without it geting stuck, was really bad. Anway, that night had mashed potatoe and mince and amount that I could eat was reduced but after 2 hours was hungry again and ate 2 pieces of toast. I am starting to think that the lapband is just not right for me, could 1ml in fill really make that much of a difference. People on here keep talking about their "sweet spot" but I am not really sure what this actually means. I am just sick of it not working for me and everything getting stuck all the time. Banded on the 26th February 2007 (and have lost nothing!!!!!!)
  9. Hi there, banded in late Feb 07, first fill in early April of 1.5 (and I think this is ml in Aussie not sure, he just said 1.5). Lost no weight and feel no restriction whatsoever, eat anything, anytime. Went and had another fill today and he said that since I havent lost any he would be a bit aggressive and put in 2ml, which he said is quite alot but not to worry if i had any trouble eating as it would settle down but only to call him if i couldnt drink liqued. WELL, thing is, I get home from fill, drink a bit of Water, yeah and then have tea which my hubby had so thoughtfully cooked and scoffed the lot Mashed potato, carrots, peas and yes, crumbed chicken snitzel. Felt no restriction at all so I am just wondering, am I looking for the amount of food I eat to be restricted or am i looking for the type of food i eat to be restricted?? Some other people having their fill today have only ever had like 1 or 2 and only went back cause the restriction wore off but one lady said that she can't eat hardly anything and lives off chocolate and liqueds. But another lady said that she eats just about anything as long as it isnt fatty as she just spews that back up? I am a bit confused and disappointed at the same time that I may have to go back for another fill YET AGAIN!! It has been nearly 3 months after having my op and i have not lost a single kilo!!:pout::pout::pout:

    Shoulder pain ! HELP !!

Hey there Mark, Congrats on getting banded. I was banded in Tassie in Feb 07 and the shoulder pain was absolutely excruitiating, like PaulaD my shoulder pain was worse than the banding pain. Mine lasted quite a long time, 4 -5 weeks i think but it did get better. Walking, heat packs and plenty of panadeine helped me get through it. Good Luck anyway!!

    Newly banded

Thanks guys, i was getting really depressed over the whole, "what have i done???", now onto day 7 and things are feeling a little better . Still struggling with the Soup thing but has some mashed spud with heaps of gravy so am hanging in there. Thanks so much for all your support, very much appreciated! :clap2:
  12. Hi there, i am an aussie, just banded on Monday so only onto day 4 at moment. Very suprised by the amount of pain that i have been in and the shoulder pain has been absolutely excruiating :think . Have spent most of my time feeling sorry for myself and wondering what the hell i have done to myself (and paid money for it!!). Sick of Soups already and really wondering if this is all going to be worth it, i am so looking forward to eating normally!!! How did you all feel in your first few weeks of banding??????
