    13 Days Post Op

I'm 5 days out. My Breakfast Protein shake is 160 calories. 2 chopped eggs 155 calories 3 oz of salmon 90 calories 3 oz non-fat plain greek yogurt 53 calories That's 458 calories according to MFP. Interesting that mine is so much more. I realize my doctor is more aggressive when it comes to eating mushy food earlier than others. I was only on liquids for the day of the operation. I'm not even looking at the scale until I see him 2 weeks out so we'll see how this works.
  2. Recovery is going well but I really miss yoga.

  3. Exercise was a key for me. I ran 3 miles a day, biked as often as I could and did daily yoga. I had my procedure last week and my recovery has been fairly easy. My surgery was at 11;30 and by 4 I was walking laps around the nurses station. I really feel that regular exercise more than anything has helped me through this. I also had those better eat it now food cravings a week before the liquid diet. It lasted a couple of days and I felt sick after doing it. If I had to do it again I wouldn't have eaten those farewell potato chips.
  4. If he's not going to sign off you're going to need to find a different doctor who will. My surgeon spends and awful lot of time educating other doctors about the benefits of weight loss surgery. Many just don't want to hear or believe it. They don't look at all the latest data that proves just how beneficial this can be. If you run into one of those you are pretty much stuck and need to find someone else

    1 Week Before Surgery

Stevia is your friend. It's the only 0 calorie sweetener that's natural. It's come way down in price too. Works great in everything from herbal tea to plain greek yogurt. I also hate artificial sweeteners and am so glad to finally have a real alternative.
  6. Thanks to everyone. I left the hospital on Friday hoping that power would be back but no such luck. Lucky i have family in the area with power. A nice couch with heat and light seems like heaven compared with those dark nights.
  7. It all seems to depend on the doctor. Mine only wanted full liquids for 1 day post-op. Too bad he didn't feel the same way with the per-op diet.
  8. You can get rid out those aches and pains even while you are still fat. I started yoga years ago and those pains go away if you practice for just a half hour s day. Your body needs to be stretched out no matter what weight you are. Don't wait for the operation to start getting in shape.
  9. I was sleeved on 11/1 and right from the start liquids have been easy. Day 2 they started me on mushy food and that's been a lot more challenging. It takes me an hour to go through 3 oz of tuna or 4 oz of cottage cheese. I'd rather that be slower than the liquids since staying hydrated is job 1.
  10. I was supposed to be Oct 31 but Sandy pushed it back to 11/1. I stayed one night in the hospital and left the next evening. It's been okay. The pain isn't bad. Liquids were easy. My surgeon has me on puréed foods already which is a little tougher. The hospital meal was a meat, vegi and potato. I really just ate the meat and liquids and skipped the rest. That fits in with what my NUT told me and honestly it's all I can do.
  11. How would she even know the term 'stalling'? Has she had WLS?
  12. Thanks all. Sitting in my hospital bed enjoying light, electricity and heat for the first time since Monday. Great to be sleeved
  13. I've been a complete pest throughout this whole process. I'm the customer. I'm paying them and have a right to get their butts moving. As long as you are nice about it no one minds you being a little pushy. They know this is a big deal and will help you out.
  14. Hurricane Pushed me back to 11/1 Surgery Date

  15. Looks like the hurricane beat me in the end. My surgery is officially cancelled
  16. I'm due to be sleeved October 30th and I see the headline that a new perfect storm is going to hit the East Coast at the same time. I beat the doctors and their tests, I beat the insurance company and now I have to beat Mother Nature herself to get this done. No problem, just another obstacle to climb right over
  17. Sorry to hear that Yamz28. I spoke my surgeons office at 8 am and was told that it's up to the hospital. They might not even decide until tomorrow even though the surgery is supposed to be at 9 am. My gut is telling me that it won't happen but we'll just have to wait and see

    Sandy !

I'm in CT and my surgery is supposed to be Tuesday at 9 am. Really hoping for the best but the news is dreadful. The thought of trying to recover with no electricity is also making me sick with worry. Cold and dark without working toilets is not how I envisioned this.
  19. Looking real dicey. Mandatory evacuation south of the hospital. Not so sure I want to recover in a house without power for a week. This is going to be miserable no matter what.
  20. The risks of having a serious complication from staying 370 pounds are a lot greater than the risks of surgery.

    Pre Op Diet Tips

I have 4 days left on mine and I won't lie to you, it's not a fun experience. My advice is to stay busy and just take it as the final challenge before the surgery. It's late in the 4th quarter and you need to dig deep and find that little extra to get through no matter how much it hurts and how bad you feel. It will all be worth it in the end.
  22. The hospital doesn't worry me. Babies are born every day no matter the weather. That part will be fine. What worries me is being without power for a week when I go home. Last year we lost power for 9 days from a hurricane and then a week during Halloween from a freak snow storm. The power utilities in CT are terrible. Recovering from surgery in a cold, dark house is not going to be fun. Hope it doesn't come to that.
  23. Why not go back to your nutritionist? You know you need help. You don't know how to start. The good news is there is someone who probably still has records on you and who is an expert. That's a better way to get back in control than trying to do it on your own.
