Lets Talk Coffee
IsB replied to PerfectlyImperfect's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm dying for a cup of coffee. I'm still waiting until I get doctors approval before I try it. -
Good luck. A lot of people here have had success with peer to peer so you should stay positive.

I felt that way but wish I didn't. I just made me feel sicker going into the pre-op liquid diet.

If you go to the unjury website they have a bunch of ideas for how to use the unflavored protein powder. Check out this link http://www.unjury.com/download/UNJURY-unflavored-recipes.pdf

Not a bad problem to have

I started with the elliptical 4 days after surgery and have been able to build back up to 3 miles a day. Exercising in the early morning is great for keeping energy for the rest of the day. The other key is sleep. Make sure you get enough sleep every day.

I asked the same question to some friends who had WLS a couple of years ago. Both told me that rice is very difficult. They do eat bread, pasta and even pizza in real moderation. However it all depends on what your body can handle. I wouldn't expect to be eating much of those things if any at all for the first year.

It all depends where you start from. I'm 8 pounds in a week and perfectly fine with that.

I'm still waiting to find out what the total amount I owe and it's been a week and a half since the operation. I have 20% co-insurance and a $2,500 deductible but there is a max out of pocket of $6,750. The original amount the hospital told me was over that max out of pocket number so I told them they are wrong. Once the insurance company tells what I actually owe I'll pay it. I did put $1,000 down right before the surgery as a compromise since I knew it would be more than that. They'll bill the rest once we see what the insurance company says.

You did the right thing. It's important to seek treatment. Hopefully it's nothing. With your body weakened it's easier to catch bugs. Good luck

It's the same concept but the leak test is a lot easier. They don't move you all around like the do in the upper GI. They didn't even tilt the table. You just stand there, take a tiny swallow and hold for the picture. Then they turn your body the other way and do the same thing. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. The ride on the bed to the x-ray department was more uncomfortable than the actual test.

I started pureed foods day 2 after the operation. My doctor only has 1 day on liquids. I wish he felt that way in the the pre-op since I was on partial liquid for a week and then full liquid for another.

I've done it in the past. Nothing helps but time. The good news is it will be back to normal in a couple days.

Just keep walking when you can and that pain will go away. Warm, room temp or cold really doesn't matter. Keeping hydrated does so warm it up if that's what it takes. Sounds like you're doing great. Your positive attitude on this site always cheers me up. Glad to hear that all went well.

How Long Was Your Process Getting To The Approval And Surgery Date?
IsB replied to MissBJones's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on your insurance. I also had a 6 month supervised diet requirement so it took 7 months total. -
I Feel Hungry All The Time
IsB replied to Rho310nomore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery the same day and feel the same way. I've been on soft food since day 2 but that hunger just doesn't seem to go away. Ignoring it isn't hard though. I'm sticking to the plan that I was given hungry or not. -
Post Op Day Two, Looking For Guidance
IsB replied to irish1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my 7th day out and getting liquids down has been pretty easy so far. No you can't gulp but I have no problem swallowing pills and taking normal sized swallows. Keep up the walking. I've been using an elliptical since my 3rd day out and can now go 25 minutes with a little resistance, level 5 out of 20. That seems to help everything. -
I'm out a week and 96% lean ground beef has been on the menu given to me by my NUT.

It's like everything else in life. You have to want it with all your heart. You've come to far to lose motivation now. You don't want to quit the race when the finish line is so close. Keep fighting.

Just follow through with everything they tell you and it will be a breeze. Good luck

Good luck and a speedy recovery. Losing 35 pounds before surgery proves your commitment. Keep it up and you're going to do great!

Congrats. I had mine on November 1. It was supposed to be Oct 30 but Sandy cancelled everything and knocked out power at my home for a week. When it was cancelled we weren't even sure it could be rescheduled in time enough not to have to redo some of the tests. Even getting to the hospital under hanging trees and down powerlines was more stress than I needed. Despite all that it worked out. They were able to fit me in just 2 days later. We did find a way to get to the hospital. The procedure went great and having some heat and lights was a nice bonus. Recovering in the cold and dark wasn't so fun but even under those conditions it was okay. The bottom line is no matter what happens it's not going to be as difficult as you think. You can do this and will be okay. Take a couple of deep breaths and do what you have to do. Saturday will get here soon enough.
