I Have Fallen Off The Wagon. I Need Help.
IsB replied to Julie76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unfortunately there is always going to be stress for all of us. It might be money or kids, relationships, work, even the news of the world for some people. What you need to focus on is your reaction to the stress in your life. You've already identified yourself as an emotional eater. Get some help with that. Go to a support group or see a mental health expert. Focus on how to deal with stress as opposed to trying to eliminate stressful situations because some new ones are always going pop up. -
Finished up month 4. 2 more appointments left to go. My NUT has been great but there isn't that much she can teach me at this point. Most of us have been on strict diets for years before we considered weight loss surgery. At least she's cool about it and focuses on some of the new ideas and thoughts about nutrition. I do feel there is a value to working with a NUT but 6 months is just overkill. I've been told it's not something most doctors are in favor of. This is strictly the logic and bureaucracy of insurance companies and not medicine.

Has Anyonen Ever Failed With The Sleeve?
IsB replied to Chills562's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing wrong with going to a support group for help. To succeed you need to develop good eating habits. No weight loss surgery can do that for you. What's smart is that you is that you understand the situation and are going to do what you need to do to make it work. -
I'm all for saving money but this isn't buying a car. You're not shopping for the same model at a different dealer. Maybe you can tell the surgeon that the price is high and you are considering other doctors just to see if he'll come down a little? That's about as far as I'd go unless you think you'll get better medical treatment elsewhere.

Remember the old joke - what's the best way to lose 10 pounds of ugly fat....Cut off your head! Seriously you can do it if you have enough time. Sign up for My Fitness Pal and plan a diet where you lose 1.5 pounds per week. Then stick to it. You want to get this procedure which is why you will be able to do this and succeed.

Haven't heard it but it sounds like an urban legend to me. Companies changes insurance providers all the time. In the past 10 years I've had 6 different ones and that's staying in the same job. We've had lots of employees with different issues and I've never heard on anyone being excluded from the insurance plan when we switched. Like anything else you just want to make sure there is no lapse in your insurance so you don't end up with a pre-existing condition that is excluded.

Stopped taking Metformin -- signs of low blood sugar
IsB replied to MsC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From what I have heard it's the removal from part of the intestine that eliminates diabetes. We don't have that with the sleeve so it isn't immediate but it sounds like it still can happen in a short period of time. -
40 Hours Til Surgery And I Am So Scared I Am Making The Wrong Decision
IsB replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know what Chub Rub is but I bet you're still tired of it and this is the best way to take care of it. -
Words Of Encouragement From A 1 Yr Out Aug Sleever
IsB replied to mamamckinzie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Very helpful mamamckinzie. It's great to hear long term results from someone coming at this from a different situation. There are many with a lower BMI who still face deadly weight related diseases. Glad to hear that 1 year later it worked out for you. Thanks for sharing. -
That's great. I've been in that situation in the past. It's one of those "I can't believe I can't fit and I'm eating stuff that will make me even fatter" moments. Great job one of the best NSVs that I've seen.

I don't know about the original one. On the current one you can hold down the button for a few seconds and it turns it into a stopwatch. You then push it again at the end of the activity and can log it on the website.

Sorry to see you go but if it isn't helping then you really should find something else that works better for you. Good luck

The Sleeve Is So Much Better Than Getting A Lap Band
IsB replied to 2muchbmi's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When I first considered weight loss surgery the lap band seemed to be the obvious choice. Then I kept on reading stories like these over and over. Not that there can't be problems with the sleeve, because we all know there can be, but the amount of issue just appears to be less. Thanks to everyone for sharing. More information on personal experiences is always helpful. -
Wow! That's tremendous. It's my major reason for getting this done. Hope to join you in being diabetes free.

Just finished my 3rd visit last week. It's annoying but since there is nothing you can do about it you might as well use it to learn how to eat properly.

6 Month Dietician Support Finally Over! Woohoo
IsB replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Insurance & Financing
I still have 3 more to go 6 months is way too long. I wonder who came up with that time frame? It's just so arbitrary. -
Congrats! That is something to be glad about

Feet should be at or bit wider than shoulder distance. Toes must be pointing forward, that could be your issue. Always look at your feet before you start your set. Go down slowly to the point where your butt just goes to where it would if you were sitting in a chair. The weight should be in the front of your thighs which at that point is on the top of your legs. You should not feel it in your back or knees. Lift up slowly so you come up straight and don't wobble forward. In Yoga there is a pose called chair pose where you hold that downward position without any weights for 30 seconds to a minute. That really helps to develop proper technique. If you feel strain in your knees something is wrong. Go through the above steps and if that doesn't do it make the trainer watch you do every squat and tell him exactly what you are feeling. The last thing he wants is for you to get hurt. Good luck

Worried About Psychologist
IsB replied to Chubarella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Given everything that's happened look at seeing the psychologist as a positive. Talking to an expert after those issues could really help. -
Pound a day sounds pretty good to me

5 Month Update. Holy Cow I Guess The Weight Is Coming Off!
IsB replied to Nikki_1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Not too bad is an understatement. Great job! -
Many of them are Google ads. They pick up on things that you have searched for in the past in an attempt to target you. They also track your location. Right now I have ads for a New York bariatric group and Amazon Mom which is where I order diapers for my 2 year old.

I'd be more ashamed if I didn't do everything possible to get healthy. Each and every one of us owes that to themselves.

A1C Level To High For Surgery
IsB replied to Mslnzee2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. The truth is your recovery will be easier with a lower A1C. I'd rather wait a little longer and have an easier recovery that get it quicker and have a greater risk for infection and heal slowly.
